Warning! The dark side of HomeExchange! One week before my arrival date, my host cancelled my reservation for no valid reason. I had purposely booked something within the city limits of Stockholm, because all my engagements were in the city limits. HomeExchange then sent out inquiries (after I had written to them 5 times) to other properties around Stockholm and got 1 possible answer. The only problem was that this property was over 30 km (19 miles) outside of the city limits, where I would have to travel by public transportation more than 1 hour to get there. I would also have to travel through some very unsafe neighborhoods to arrive at this location. Travelling through these neighborhoods at night is very unsafe, especially if you are a single woman, so naturally I could not accept this arrangement. HomeExchange then informed me that they had offered me a place and I did not accept, and therefore they were not going to reimburse me for hotel expenses. This is the truth and people need to know the truth. HomeExchange hides behind their corporate fine print, saying they have the right to find another exchange location that is within 50 km (31 miles) from the original reservation. It is all fine and dandy until your host cancels, then you are on your own, this the dark side of HomeExchange. I had been a loyal member of HomeExchange for at least 5 years, where I have paid my membership fees on time and had done several successful exchanges, but I am now going to cancel my membership. I have not been treated well.
Many in the USA, can claim Irish citizenship (you need at least one Irish grandparent). Once you have an Irish passport you can move to the UK (work, vote, free NHS health care, etc. via "Common Travel Area" agreement of 1922) and, of course, travel and work anywhere in the EU .
I want to move to ireland with my small family of 2. But im worried that others like me (americans) will unfortunately turn ireland into america which NOT what I want. I want to assimilate into irish culutre and be a true irish woman. I want to keep the kindness and history and traditions. I dont want ireland to be another NYC or 'Merica. I am a city person, but will totally work someones farm just to get my small family of 2 into ireland. I will scrub toilets with a toothbrush. I just want to make my.childs dream come.true. ❤❤❤
I am currently trying to make the decision if I should move abroad to Japan to be with my boyfriend who I met studying abroad and eventually did long distance with. I‘m from Germany and I would like to travel to Asia with 90 days no visa, can I work remotely as a part time while traveling ? My employer is aware of it and has no problem with that.
I am an experienced and well-versed English teacher with international qualifications. I want to move from Pakistan to Spain along with my family. How can I easily move there? Does Spain offer permanent residence to foreign teachers? In which other European countries there is demand for English teachers? Please guide me, grateful❤.
There is another way to move to and work in Germany as an American. The US Government has many jobs available here. From grocery store worker to heads of departments. You don't need a Visa or German work permit to work for the US in Germany. Regular jobs are available. Check USAJOBS dot gov. Yes it's a process, but if you're serious about moving here like I was, it is possible to do so without all of the quirky job titles like freelancer. Some jobs even have relocation and housing allowances.
And also I would like to point out, I went to the Spanish consulate in Chicago and they said the path thru former Spanish colonization descent is not true. I have a email from them saying it
Hi! That information from the Consulate is incorrect. People are still getting approved for Spanish citizenship through this path. It is Spain who processes the citizenship not a consulate in the US. The process is as follows: 1) Get a visa to live in Spain (non-lucrative, digital nomad, golden visa, freelance visa, entrepreneur, etc.) 2) Live in Spain for two years 3) Apply for Spanish citizenship in Spain (given that you have citizenship from one of the qualifying countries) I hope that helps!
