5 years later and my Yamatai Castle build by using your clever glitch is still standing in my single player game 😁 Went with a different location and a bit bigger with outside walls, gates and guardhouses. Although I'm a shitty builder I like how it ended up with these nice overhanging roofs. And yea there were some problems, sweat and tears during the whole building process 😅 With the Yamatai tower set I was finally able to update the whole build. Adding sliding doors and changing stable floors for the Yamatai tower floors. New rooftop pieces also came in handy 😁

At 2:12 how did you attact the fence pieces to the roof mine only wants to build on the wall below (Edit) NVM I figured it out he used walls instead of fences like I thought
I made your castle on PS4 2 years ago and it works find but now i switch on PC and it doesnt work at all especialy with the awning overlapping piece... do you have any solution because i really like to recreate it on PC... thank you for you're time and your castle is amazing
You make too many mistakes in the video, and that causes confusion. In some places, you cut the video stupidly. We always need to rewind the video to understand. Video this way cancer.
Dude. The video is 13 min. I did cut away some mistakes. The things you see are problems that can pop up when you are building. It’s not intended to build on half tiles and sometimes you just can’t place blocks. But all the floors are made the same way so if you manage to make one, you can make the rest. Note that this is on PC with listed mods. You can’t mqke this without mods.
I love the idea of this but the resources required to build this in survival are RIDICULOUS...My girl and I play on a PVE server and we are grinding out shit like crazy with tier 4 smelters and improved furnaces. We grind out the Dead Mounds for Steel and still dont have enough to make even 1 floor with roofing all around.
Thanks :) The interior is not a problem. All the beams and supoort inside can be changed into walls and you can place them pretty much how ever you want. But if you want one big open area, wel then it's not gonna work.

Yes. You need mods in order to overlap. Last time i confirmed that this still works 100% was before christmas. There might have been some updates that make the mods not working correctly. I will try to look into this when i have time. (Since mods are needed you can't make this build on ps4)

Yes.You snap the roof to the temorary walls so they overlap the main walls. once you have a roof edge around the building you delete the temporariy walls and then you can continue on the main walls. Those wall parts will be inside the roof edge. That edge is where i then place the fence

Andrew McGrath Thanks! At 38:23 it starts. I use the water material assets pack. I use 4 parts that are linked together. You can change the tiling of the stream and speed with the sliders. I also removed collision because for some reason the waterfall had that by default. Hope that will help you :)
Thanks for the guide!. I had used your method to build a beautiful roof before the official patch to fix the overlaps. I don't remember do you need to have the overlap mod before, since I cannot build the overlapped roof now.
WH Leung Hi! No you can add the mod and then fill in the blank spots on your building. This video was made before the patch and i added the mod like 2 weeks ago to fill in the holes.
Trieu Cam yea it would have been nice! Are you having problems with the roofs? Remember, you need the Less Building Restrictions - overlaps edition to make it work. They made an update like 2 months ago that fixed the overlaping :/
Fallenius Gaming i am playing in a unoffcial with overlap mod, so I can use your trick perfectly, the mess is ceilling overlap, cause the motion. Haizz I try to rebuild Osaka castle but it’s seen no hope. Sr if my english too hard to understand because I fail at(?) 5.5 IELTS
Carlos Contreras yea i got into a flow after a while. But full wall support around is the best way to go. As long as you have the first layer with roof you can build wall supports from that layer. Let me know if you get into more problems and i will do my best to help you out 👍
Thanks for this! Its awesome! I ended up rebuilding on my own but bigger (5x5 base) without any mods on official PVE so it was a struggle XD. Funcom did not take staying true to Japanese architecture into account when they came out with the DLC. For anyone looking to rebuild w/o mods: Be prepared with 4x the building materials for walls as you build 2 temporary walls to place the roof before building the actual wall and placing the fence. Also stabilization is a big issue with the corner pieces once you remove temporary walls and it took me FOREVER to realize that. A repair hammer is clutch. As a fix I put in pillars inside every corner (inside the building) up to the top, then each corner roof piece should read 60 and be strong enough without temporary walls.
@stinarrr Thanks! Yes i know the Yamatai roofs are a bit disapointing. So far i made 2 japanese buildings and my other was 9x9. I used pillars there for support temporary and after that i made the interior. That build have overlapping anwings though and Funcom patched that a cuple of weeks ago. stinarrr yeah it’s seem funcom didn’t study about Japanese architecture enough. Shame, I think they must add more piece of building like half roof, some decoration for rooftop emd like Koi fish, more roofs curved
