Oh my lord please never ever ever farm for blood vials. Kill enemies. Buy blood vials early every chance you get while they’re cheaper. Just level vigor for a while here and there as needed. Your damage will primarily come from weapon upgrades for such a large portion of the game that you can absolutely spend echoes that you THINK you need in damage stats… on blood vials. Vibe it out. But never farm for vials. It’s completely unnecessary.
11:20 ER kinda has a balance issue, lol. You are NOT wrong. FS made the game for as many ppl as possible which is what imo killed it for me. Gave way too many cheesy options to make the game easy so ppl would not have to actually L2P.
Its better than Sims 4 and the Forza Horizon 5 too if you more into the boss fights and horror theme. Bloodborne is all about this Lovecraftian nightmare world and fight in a classic souls set but ER is a bigger pie and the reason its more liked by many because it's focus less on one aspect. You can play and win the gmae in so many other way. Both really good in its own turf and I am so glad they don't try to be the other .

Been playing Elden Ring for a while, even got the DLC, but it still doesn't rival Bloodborne. Even with it's game of the year award. Bloodborne is still the best Souls game IMO.
Why are there so many dislikes? im halfway and this is a good vid. subbed man. edit I think it was the criticism of the controls. I like the trilogy controls way better than gamecube, but i can respectfully disagree. I thought the same of magmoor btw. every other area is very complex and magmoor is a refreshing departure.
I really don’t understand ppl who farm for blood vials. Maybe pre-cathedral ward. But once you reach cathedral ward start buying them. Have echoes left after leveling up? Buy vials. Never leave the Hub with souls. By the time you head to bergenworth enemies drop so much cash that vials and bullets shouldn’t be a second thought. I’ve heard ppl tell me they hated farming vials and they were in the Nightmare of Mensis 😂 The only serious problem with Bloodborne is the pvp/co-op using a weird bell system instead of summon signs.
@@causality.mp3 honestly, I actually completely agree. If Bloodborne came to PC at 30fps I’d still buy it for $60. Just because I know my PC can process faster than my PS4 and would maintain 30fps where the PS4 would chug and dip to 10fps.
Fantastic review. I love all souls titles and BB is no exception. My biggest critique is Blood Vial farming as well. I stumbled upon a tough boss that I dont think im supposed to fight till later or higher level as i was taking only tiny tiny amounts of hp off him but i thought it would be fun to take em out anyway through practice and perseverence until i remembeted arfter a bunch of failed attempts i would need to farm up hundreds of blood vials again and I said nah F that. Thats bad. Thats the vial system actively discouraging me from taking on tough bosses out of order. Still afantastic game though. Probably best game on ps4 imo
Looks like prime beyond will have a sort of fix for the super missile thing by having missiles (and maybe beams) ties to the d pad so you can easily switch between super and regular without having to do the charge shot (like in the a few of the 2d games)
i think bloodborne shines the most for players that have never touched a souls game. that was me about 9 years back. i fell in love with the game despite absolutely sucking at it. the world its set in, the horror aspect and the fast combat are the reason why i loved this game but hated dark souls. the only bosses i really didnt struggle with on my first playthrough were the final 3 bosses because at that point i learned the rules of the game and was fairly powerful. but then the dlc released and raw dogged me. its my favorite game after all these years and i curse sony every day for not bringing it to pc where it can be preserved for years to come.
Elden ring is a strange hybrid and something new with previous elements from their catalog. Bloodborne is one of my favorites and I had a great time with my friend playing it. However elden ring was not fun in ways and I think the elements in it was not as good as it was in previous games like the unlockable attacks in sekiro. Choices are great but too many is a bad thing. The repeat bosses wasn't my complaint in elden ring, I love the chalice dungeons. I hated how the build I used in every game was no longer viable. I was forced to use meta stuff like comet azure and dual welding great swords and jumping cheesing shit, it wasn't fun. When I rather two hand a great sword sacrificing defense for evasion and raw power. I felt a lot of elden ring bosses were just straight bullshit with some of the moves. It was like they made some bosses so cheap and unfair having to switch to a meta weapon or stat grind. Some of the design were awful to me like the elden beast and ideas that were already better executed like one reborn made up of body parts. The insight in bloodborne was awesome like having zero the doll would sit there and no longer talk. I felt bloodborne was better with environmental story telling like gascoine's dead wife and daughter giving you the music box. Being more vague made you think more. True elden ring had great environment story telling like with Godfrey and the bodies scattered around the castle. I remember bosses like Margo's wet nurse being one of my favorites to fight and the dancer of the boreal valley being one of my all time favorites. It felt like I was dancing with her in the battle. I don't have fond memories of any elden ring boss like that. In ways I feel elden ring bosses were extremely cheap and unfair
The last thing I wanted to mention before I accidentally posted my comment was I spent a entire week getting beat down by genichiro in the top of the castle spending hours every day fighting him. I took many beatings in sekiro and when I finally had enough practice and the game clicked, it was one of the greatest games, I remember the fight with the samurai on horseback and how it felt to defeat him. Sekiro there was no changing armor or weapons. It was solely on myself to master what I had and use the few tools I had effectively. I never felt that while playing elden ring. It didn't feel like a skill issue but my build wasn't meta enough and my choices of how I wanted to play was the problem.
I guess they selected the way of getting hp different from dark souls is because Bloodborne has the rally mechanic. So you'll less likely to die if you keep hitting bac whwn farming for blood vials. You would beat the game a lot faster if you have the option to get max potions and rally mechanic after resting and might be a different review of the game then.
I guess your feeling less frustrated in the difficulty level of the gamd because of the appreciation of the level design and the beauty of the world overcomes it. Like I actually find it hard already but I always keep coming back to it.
pretty disppointing how bad the pcvr version looks. if you can get it to look that good on quest, you could get it to look pretty damn good on pc. but i guess its just not worth their time. i hate what quest has done to high quality vr/ pcvr.
Just finished my first playthrough, and i was expecting more. The main game bosses were almost all average or below in fight quality. There were a lot of average or even annoying base game areas as well. The base game is a 6/10 for me. The dlc is an 8.5 though. Definetly far from a masterpiece. Id say Sekiro is the closest souls has ever come to being perfect, despite it not being my personal favorite.
Buying a steam deck and taking back to Australia will be ok? The steam deck hasn’t been purposefully modified to be charged at 100v ? In Aus our outlets run at 240v. I’m planning to go to Japan soon so any feed back would be much appreciated.
1 - This is the OG , it cannot fail at being a Soulslike. I can get into the history and the miracle of the gaming world having this game and its kin at all, but I am sure you know it. I really don't like this statement. Almost insulting. Almost earns a How Dare You response. Also, grass farming is optional So is grass use. Just don't use it if it trivializes the game. Impose a limit on yourself. I can only use 5 grasses per boss battle. Demon's Souls was the first of its kind so Miya allowed grass to give people who lacked the skill but had the determination to at least finish it. It ensures accessibility for all. This is not strictly a skill based game, that's taking your knowledge of the Soulsborne series as a whole and applying it to the first of the series when you missed the birth of the genre in 2009. It may have been the first you played, but you certainly had knowledge. When this dropped in 2009 we knew nothing. Skill wasn't the big thing, it was willpower. The will to keep going back, death after death. Learning through death. The games have become progressively more skill based with faster combat, learning boss tells etc. Personally can't stand the evolution, but it is what it is, and appeals to a broader base. Less cerebral, more twitch. Honestly, this is the trouble with reviewing a series that has evolved so much. Unless you were there at launch you can't help but have missed "IT"
Late as post! My bro and I played through the OG master system version the other night from our vintage collection, so good. Only down side was that our D-pads sucked so so much.
Believe me my friend, you're not the only one with certain tastes in keyboards. I've tried out and changed keyboards like clothes and had different tastes over time. It can get addicting to try new peripherals. Thank you for the review.
