I am touring Europe - solo - on the Royal Enfield interceptor 650.
This will be a documentation in the run up to, during and post trip - the preparations for (or lack of) the things I learn and the shoulda's, woulda's and cudda's. The biggest question I have right now is, will the inty survive Europe? Join me to find out.
Thanks for review on the interceptor, I was going to ask your thoughts on taking it abroad and you have answered my questions, well done and keep the excellent videos coming 😎😎
Open and true comments to this motorcycle - i like to confirm 100% (I have now ridden 47K on the same model in 3 years, which cannot be replicated with every motorcycle) Have a good trip, I'm looking forward to more videos 😀🤜🤛
Being an owner of Classic 350 of Royal enfield for 8 years now I totally endorse your feelings and comments about this piece of machine. Definitely want to have one interceptor in my garage.
People travel the world on 125s .. It's how and where you want to ride. Marvelous bike overall .. One advice for a future dirt orientated bike... The weight and suspension travel are kings there, don't overdue it with big heavy adv bike.
This is true, I have had trips with my humble vespa px 150, 1000 km and more with camping gears, bags etc. But some time you need something else to enjoy more the ride.
I am between interceptor , which is a beautiful bike (but now it's not so cheap, here in Greece 7.5k euros new one) and himalayan 450(5.8k euros). My main concern is that I am 6.02, I tried Himalayan and it was just the right height, but I couldn't find a test drive for interceptor. What is your height? I want a second bike for touring maybe some off-road, I've already have a vepsa px! for city commuting and small trips too. Ride safe, enjoy!! Great content by the way!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I'm 6ft1 - and can honestly say I find the interceptor comfy despite it being a smaller bike. However IF you are set on an RE and want to go off road, why not get the Himalayan... I've not actually test ridden one so I cant comment but Ive heard good things. Not sure how it does on highways etc but... it seems like a good go between.
They are an incredible bike for the money. I’ve been in the market for one since coming across your trip videos, but have just bought a 2022 Triumph Street Twin. I had my heart set on the RE, but the Triumph came at a price I couldn’t pass by. Safe travels 🏍️
Perhaps also consider the Triumph 400X. Good on road and off road, check out the latest videos by Nathan Millward where he took one to Iceland. The engine is so good with less vibrations than the Royal Enfield.
Still enjoying your Europe bike tour videos. It would be really helpful if you could include captions of place names or the road number that you’re on in the video. That little town with the church bells looked really interesting to visit, but other than Northern Italy I don’t have a reference to look it up. Just a thought and one I’ve seen other motorcycle travellers insert into their videos which is useful for to look at where they are. Cheers buddy, ride safe!
Great idea mate - Ill be honest, there have been times when I've not even know where I am myself haha. But this is absolutely a great idea for certain locations. When do you leave for your trip mate?
@@Papanchasonline getting the ferry to France next Saturday, then 3 days down to just outside of Monaco, a couple days rest/local riding, and then riding back north through France. Vercors region and Verdon Gorge await!!
Roughly, I came via Tolmezzo dipped down toward Udine to camp for the evening - from there Chiusaforte up and over Mangart. Almost the very North East of both countries
We did the same. We had a "rough" plan. But no real plan. Other than visiting the Moto Guzzi factory for a tour. Grimsel, Furka, Susteen passes etc. Everything else I between was fluid
great road, well found mate. i will put a link up on my community page. i have been looking at doing a series on great roads and it would be good if i could use some footage? i do always credit people of course. we are just back from tour, i will have a look through your other vids 🙂 happy trails
Hey man, thanks for this! Really appreciate it. I’ve got so many more to put up so happy to share… had a few issues today, but back on the road. Will get em up over the coming weeks. I’ll come by and check you out!
@@Papanchasonline happy to help mate, the aim is to create a network of real biker creators to try and fight back against all the autogenerated content that is drowning everything else out, together we are stronger 🙂 ride free brother
Best one yet brother!! Thanks for the shoutout, I am starting to have FOMO now. Do you manage to get on with photos as well? I know we found it hard during the rally
That's a great idea. Maybe post once or twice a week at most, give yourself time to enjoy the moment and it will fire up your creative energy. They say that the plans of sailors are written in the sand at low water mark, whichever way the wind blows my friend just set your sails right and you will get there. Cheers.
I totally relate to this video..after the Covid I started riding solo and had a couple of holidays on my own. It's not always joy and sunshine, you could find really bad weather, you can have mechanical issues and everyday is different...Wednesday you feel like a lion and on Thursday you feel a bit sick, maybe you haven't slept well and a wonderful ride turns to a slow fatiguing trip with lots of yawns. And even though I thought I had a solid plan it always turned a bit into shit, lol 😁 Not knowing where to sleep is a bit stressful too, I agree. You could find a beautiful road to ride but hey, it's 7pm and you don't even know wether you'll be able to find a roof for tonight. Not the best sensation in the world. Nice vlogging Jacob, you are doing a really great vacation....but I would't venture on dirt roads alone with that bike/tyres for all the money in the world 😇😄
ahaha, you're welcome mate! I thought a hot coffee would save your cold ass up there on the mountains but hey it's summer!! An ice cream is always welcome!! Take care!
If this is your first bike trip abroad it’s great to take your time and use it like a recon mission to see where you like and where you want to return to and spend more time in a specific location or area. There’s so much to see in Europe it’s hard to even get a glimpse of it, especially whilst also thinking about recording it and producing the footage into a video. Enjoy and savour the experience before thinking ahead to what’s next. Plenty of motorcycle vloggers record trips and edit the footage once back home, releasing it as episodes whilst they are planning or even starting their next adventure.
Oh for sure man. The plans have chopped and changed a plenty this week… heading somewhere very special. This is the thing with solo and having time, there are endless possibility’s. Updates to come. And the vlogging, totally. For me, I do an edit every few days, and yes they could be higher end and perfect but I also love the on the go approach, it allows me to remember the day far better, to cut with how it felt… and not worry too much about perfection. At home I can often over analyse it and not actually end up finishing it, so it’s better to say yeah, rough cut, great, and what a way to be learning. The page is new too, it’s just been good to get some content up without overthinking it, just doing the vlog itself was a big step to overcome for me! Thanks bro, can’t be long before you leave?!
@@Papanchasonline totally get what you mean..analysis paralysis! I’m the same and it just results in me procrastinating instead of getting on with things. I’ve recently been watching an Aussie guy called Joe Ryan (channel is the same name), he’s a great example of editing video, cutting footage, and choosing and lining up the shot with backing music. If you get chance you should check him out, his latest series is a tour of New Zealand. Look forward to the video this afternoon.
Being present and enjoying the moment should be your number one priority (least that’s what I think ha), rather than vlogging. Also if you reduce the frequency of the vloggs it gives the chance to increase the quality of the content through editing (not that they haven’t been great, but hopefully you know what I mean), picking the very best bits! Keep up the great work 😊
Glad you are slowing down and enjoying more! I live in France and never go away in family holidays! Loving watching your trip enjoy! If you’re up Saint Marlo way give me a shout! I’ve got three bikes 😳😂
I completely agree, you don't have to post every single day, it has to be a vacation not a vlogging job. Breathe, absord the scenery, ride, have fun. Vlogging comes next. Thanks so much for your videos, this year no vacations (or very minor ones I should say) for me so following your trip is cool. Glad you're enjoying my country (Italy), I'll gladly buy you another cup of coffee soon!
@@Papanchasonline thanks!! I Guess initially i'll travel from Spain to Europe alone ;). I am also preparing a travel across Spain in a Honda Dax (monkey). Enjoy your travel!!
hi dude, really enjoying this video series. I have done maybe a couple of dozen european tours. the first four or so with a riding buddy, the rest solo, which is now by far my preferred option. your videos are really capturing that wide eyed wonder of doing a motorbike tour for the first time. you're doing great and learning what you like and don't like quickly, so with the caveat that all these things are subjective, these are the main things that I ended up with re approach to touring. early on I did way too much saddle time per day and not enough days off and would get cumulative fatigue that risked spoiling the trip, so now the general rule is approx 3hrs actual riding/saddle time per day, obvs not including stops. get to destination early and enjoy the evening. max 4 consecutive days before taking a day completely off the bike to relex and rest. this way I can pretty much tour indifinitely and remain fresh and alert and thoroughly enjoying it. never tour europe in july and august. may june september october are superb and massive difference in prices, traffic, tourists. also those extreme temps in south are much milder. personally I prefer to have booked accomodation before I set off every morning, that way I find i can relax and enjoy the day more knowing where I'll be that night. trying to find accomodation late in the day when fatigue is setting in just stressed me out. onwards!
@@Papanchasonline I'm in Bulgaria.. too much east, your plan was for the Adriatic countries. If you return home trough more northern countries will be cooler but it flattens out the terrain. p.s. Return trip trough Czechia, Slovakia and southern Germany looks fine to me.
I promise i'm not going to spam comments across your videos, but i'm new and i'm catching up ;) I completely accept what you're saying about the approach to a 'thing' and the way the tiniest of variations (like the Kawasaki and it not really being the bikes fault, it's just that it wasn't the RE and you were worried about all that being ready for the trip) can change the whole dynamic. The only thing that i know for sure is that two wheels is therapy <3 Two questions though; what gloves are you using and what was the outcome of the oil on the forks?
Spam away dude!!! I’m currently taking a day off so I’ve got time haha. Gloves I’ll check when I’m back with the bike, they are 4 years old! And the forks got fixed in the service, just needed a little tightening and were good to go
It's a long time since i've owned a brand new bike, but when you mentioned oil it made me think - does your bike have that oil in that needs to be changed after a few hundred miles for running in?
Only just found your channel but loving your content! Its been a wonderful journey and its wncouraging to see you overcoming the hiccups along the way. Good luck with the journey!
@@Papanchasonline you are most kind sir, thank you! I have to admit i am very sporadic with what i produce onto the channel, but i will get better. Ride safe and enjoy those European roads man!
We love Italy. Been to Venice, Rome, Sorrento, and the Adriatic side as well. Going back at the of September, hiring a camper van or motorhome, and exploring more of the Amalfi Coast. Can’t wait for that, but only 2 weeks to go until I’m on the motorcycle trip to Monte Carlo which I’m sure will be amazing!
Another great video. You'll settle into your style and the length of the videos will reflect the pace of your trip. Thanks for taking the time produce to post these videos. Cheers.
