I am a hobby musician, based in the west of Germany. I love music, guitars and guitar gear. I have no other agenda here but having fun with music, guitars, pedals, amps and video and sharing that fun with you. My musical tastes ranges from jazz (Gypsy & Swing) to blues, rock and sometimes even hard rock or pop music. My favorite guitar players are Django Reinhard, Joscho Stephan, Wes Montgomery, Robben Ford, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray, Carlos Santana (in doses), Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour among many others.

I am a huge fan of this era Schecter. The original PTs and Dream Machines were so far superior to Fender at the time, they were really the competition. I own a late 70s PT Telecaster style and I keep hunting for an original one piece body, hard tail Dream Machine that hasn't been butchered. Great build! Thank you for this video.

@franknguitars7671
@franknguitars7671 6 месяцев назад
I use dual cabs consisting of the Hiwatt 4x12 and the Greenback 25 4x12. These mix well in my experience. It is all stock settings except for a high cut at 10kz. For the Hiwatt, I believe I used a 112 Ribbon emulation and for the Greenback a SM57, both at cab edge. For the Greenback it is closed mic‘ed and the Hiwatt 3 inches away. If memory serves well, then the cabs were not panned left or right. Then there is the LA2A compressor, set very subtlety. Stock settings with compression dialed back to 5 or so. Finally the stereo dynamic ambience reverb at stock settings to emulate the cab reverb and that is it.

Thanks! the bridge is the Callaham Vintage S Tremolo. It is fantastic. I have since put it on two more guitars and it is about the best money can buy in my opinion. The ABM offering is also great. The body is a modern Stratocaster, not chambered and routed for a vintage 6 hole tremolo.

Thanks! It is a very nice sounding pedal! Perhaps less trebly and aggressive than other Silicon fuzz faces, rather fat and smooth. To me, it sounds great at any volume but one has to dial the amp in carefully and/put some EQ afterwards to finetune the sound since there is no EQ on the pedal.

Hey there! Great video! Hope all is well, just added a strymon timeline to my g2, Am struggling with midi generally but My immediate problem for this weekend gigs is - When Im In a patch that already has timeline delay on it and then hit stomp box mode to add a phaser etc it changes the timeline settings and triggers midi craziness! My stomp modes are on 10,11,12,13 Do I just turn midi off (ring button) off on those patches? Many thanks in advance for any help!

I can't get my G2 to go into MIDI setup mode. The manual says you just press and hold FS7 then phase. That doesn't work. Then I tried powering up while holding FS7 down. That didn't work. I did get all the red lights above the foot switches to flash, but they were slow and steady, not rapid. I have no clue what's going on. Just wondering if you could help.

Thanks! I agree with general statements of course. Most aficionados seem to think that it is the Civil war on this solo (zychal.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10883&highlight=pompeii) where kit gives us the signal chain: Sovtek Big Muff > EQ #3 Source Audio Toolbox > Volume Pedal > Flight Time B > Flight Time A. Whatever it was - it is lovely music that he made! Cheers and thanks for checking in. Of the three reissues I also like the Ram's head the best.

You must use neck pickup and Butler Tube Driver for the right sound!
@franknguitars7671
@franknguitars7671 3 года назад
That is, unfortunately, not correct. He plays the bridge pickup for this tune. Perhaps check the video from the Gdansk performance. It clearly is the bridge (and also sounds like it) It is true that he mostly used the Tube Driver during that tour (and later). I just wanted to give a flavor of the three high gain pedals that were on his pedalboard during this tour.
@davidgilmour3173
@davidgilmour3173 2 года назад
@@franknguitars7671 he uses the neck pickup for almost all of the song. He switched to the bridge pickup for one lick at like the 2 : 35 mark on the top result video on RU-vid that is 10 minutes long and shows both Castellorizon and On an Island. Also check out the making of On an Island album where he’s playing along to the track and he is using the neck pickup. Either way, for me at least I can tell despite these videos that it’s the neck pickup due to the muddy, thicker, mellower tone
@franknguitars7671
@franknguitars7671 2 года назад
@@davidgilmour3173 just rewatched Gdańsk and Remember that night carefully and you are both right. It is the neck pickup except for that small part with the pinch harmonics towards the end. Thanks for uploading this guide! One question - I see that on some of your G2 presets not all 3 of the Strymons have a patch name on their screens. Does the G2 send a bypass signal to them on those presets to bypass them or have they been configured somehow else?
@franknguitars7671
@franknguitars7671 3 года назад
Sorry for the late answer. I have been away for a while. The MIDI was done here in a rather simple way. Each preset in the G2 corresponds to one PC message. This PC slot in the Strymon pedals is manually configured meaning that if I want chorus with a certain setting on presets 3, 9 and 13 I need to dial it in three times (which is not very convenient). With better programmability and MIDI mapping one has one chorus patch on the Strymon and the switcher just triggers that preset. The G3 is able to do that. On the patches without a name, I had just deleted the NAME field but they still had the pedal on with some setting, just the loop was off. With a more advance switcher, you can send a bypass signal to the Strymons, but this is not how it was done here.

Seems like the body can be just a hunk of wood, I'll concede the neck is worth it, everything else is just distribution and can be bought other places. However, they come off as a company I wouldn't mind doing business with and I watch Craig's list for the cheap body. Put the neck on that, assess, and then see about a chambered body from Warmoth.

Fret leveling is easy, though a bit time consuming and the tools are a bit pricy. However, if you have a collection of guitars, and who doesn't....its an investment, fun, and rewarding to know you have the skills to do that. Recommend it, personally.
