Rapid Rehousing is not for everyone. Seniors for example who are retired, on a fixed income and experiencing homelessness. Our options are limited Wait lists, public housing, etc. The way this program is setup, you are assisted for 12-24 months, then expected to find work at some point . Who’s going to hire someone in their 60s or 70s who may not be in the best of health?
Mostly you are discussing how to get more money. But why should you be trusted with any money when not a single one of you has any actual success ending homelessness. On your watch the problem only gets worse. You don't mention the suffering and trauma that encampment evictions are causing; or the horrible condition of most temporary homeless shelters; and you don't mention successful grassroots solutions, like the self-governing tiny home eco-villages on West Oakland, such as the Wood Street Commons and Cob on Wood.
Personally my current experience aswell as the entire time I've been on the families and friends rapid rehousing program , I've had nothing but complete and ongoing triggered PTSD , recently end of 2023 the worker had done little to no documentation , was going to discharge me knowing my situation also multiple advocates treat me like I'm invisible or entertainment while I been standing in the middle of a football field of people NOBODY BLINKS AN EYE AS I SCREAM FOR HELP! to be heard without the tone of look as they pretend to listen. Six months extended because advocate clearly didn't advocate plus giving me a different worker specifically whom was absolutely CONFLICT OF INTEREST.listen this is just a tiny bit of what this has been for my personal experience. . Honestly I would be shocked if anyone bothered to respond here or elsewhere advocate for myself and others similar experiences. Corrupt landlords , and quite frankly the contracts made with them on this program STILL knowing everything happening because I reported it as this has again , more than this by far. Sincerely I know NOBODY DESERVES TO BE A TOOL SIMPLY FOR Y'ALL TO GET PAID ADVOCATES landlords etc. however it's an assembly line tracking down homeless signing them up ONLY to be offered corruption and unsafe excessive experiences. .. but NOBODY CARES. . As far as I'm concerned nothing said in this video ,HAS NEVER BEEN OFFERED PERIOD THEY LEFT ME WITHOUT CONTACT COMMUNICATION RESPONSE FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. JANUARY 2024. . Yes I have a question about the rapid refunding and when the case closest again we are going to be homeless while my daughter is going to be homeless so what do I do what does she do in that case cuz I just listened to the the video and it's saying and it's saying that they don't have a specific time to close the case so you're going to close the case and there's no way my daughter can make it on one income there's just no way for $1,500 you have to have I see I understand about the program about the help families well that's people that maybe have two incomes not going to make it I don't understand meeting with the cancer today I'm just overwhelmed with it but thank you for listening to me I'm going to reach out to the Dover area social services thank you

I was surprised at how many workers who make $75K. 79%? Maybe in California, but not in the midwest. I'm from Ohio, with a Masters and make less than $47K. Just barely enough to make it with some pennies left over.

Right all the places giving them aid and support just make the problem worse. It’s the communities that give them tough love that keep people off the streets. It’s almost like places like California are enablers to these people’s drug addictions. I’m from South Texas, most of our drug addicts are hardworking oilfield men. I have problems with the ways your going about what you're calling raids on homeless. It's uncalled for, A complete violation of the 8th amendment. Knowing they have no resources or place for your to go which by law if they move you they need to have a place for your to go to and if course they do not. But there doing a public service, RIGHT.. NO THERE NOT! WHEN YOU HAVE TO GO LOOKING FOR US WE'RE NOT IN SITE HAVE CAUSE NO ONE ANY PROBLEM TRYING TO MAKE IT. When ASKED about resources you get nothing. I've been in the list over 2.5 yrs. There not going to help me i was TOLD by dune director. WHY I'll never know i was in this city net hope team I'm Corona i left one week to go visit my boys my Son had just made me a Grandma i had no money to go to out of state , a ticket was purchased for me. The twins were 7 mos. The first time i ever saw them I've seen them once more at 5 my other sun hits baby is going on 2 I've not seen her. Back to my story. I thought i was doing the tricky thing when i told them a month before the dates and so they wouldn't pay for a room i wouldn't be in i was going for 9 days everything was fine so i thought I've day before i was to return i get a call telling me i had to wait 30 days for reentry ... WHAT !! I TOLD THEM A MONTH BEFORE I LEFT WHAT AND WHEN DID WHAT WAS DAYS HAPPEN AND WHY ONE DAY BEFORE I RETURN. SO BACK TO MY CAR I WAITED ONE WEEK BEFORE THE 30 DAYS WAS OVER I BEGIN TO CALL TO SEE WHAT I NEEDED TO DO IN CASE ANY MORE SURPRISES. WELL I DIDN'T EXPECT WHAT HAPPEN TO HAPPEN BUT NO ONE WOULD RETURN MY CALLS IT TAKE MY calls. I didn't understand why i sent emails called and finally one of the workers Sam she called me. She apologized and told me Pammay was getting my messages she didn't know why she wasn't returning my calls. She then told me she was not the manger no longer a case worker. She apologize and that was it. I continued to call and that's when dune director in Anaheim i don't recall the name let me know i could be an honorary silent helper blah blah blah. You see what i did was write what you all are using and doing now i told Pam and Sam. I saw waisted money not being used correctly a program without a name it any structure to help those in it have success. I began taking to people in the program and outside and what i found was it was high turn over and without so much as a name or what it was about. U can't you with the ideal of purchasing a hotel and turning it into a place where people without homes could live. The way i had it structured i never wrote to them i kept it to myself because it was something i wanted to do it be part of to see cube to life. I was not even giving one credit everyone jumped on this ideal( yes i can prove it was my ideal this ideal guess back before pandemic.. I even posted it in my Twitter and Newsome tried taking it you see his big mess. I'm the one who took the time and wrote a program that generate revenue and was community based help. That is the only reason i can think why i wouldn't be allowed back At the end of this bill crap talk that DIRECTOR said oh, at won't be able to help you. And hung up. And every since I've tried to get help and to date I'm still waiting it's been almost 3 yrs if i was in a list i know by now i should have been pulled over seen people get kicked out go back and out and in again and I'm still waiting all I'm told is sunshine will call me or when i get in the area call. I haven't seen one thing good with the treatment given to those who are homeless( by the way if you don't own your home you are homeless it can be thought more than one way) The treatment is uncalled for to take everything and they it away leaving a reason without even a blanket. You've removed all outlets , restrooms, water shade places to sit, you've harassed owners to a point if they don't give you permission to come in private property to do what they do best cause crap then they come after then. But.... Your getting all this MONEY if the backs of those who are in need. You change the bases of what the grant had said and made certain very free if any will be able to take advantage of it. So in the streets they remain and here you come acting like your doing something good when truth be told it's a merry go round that will never stop.
