All the Best Alexander von Westenholz (aka Holzhammer!)
It's now 2024 and it actually has gotten exponentially worse to be an American. I'm going to start to do some research to figure out how to get out of this country.
Hi there I have been watching your video's on RU-vid and I think they are fabulous. I'm wondering if it possible you could share your audio settings as I have bought the same machine as your one and can't seem to get it to sound that great..yours sound fantastic kind regards
Thanks Rodney - I don't make many adjustments - full tones always and no discrimination - I lower the audio response as I don't want everyhting to sound like its on the surface! And I keep Reactivity on 2.5 - Good luck with it and All the Best, Alexander
Just realized your e-bay ID is above please disregard my request Thanks I am interested for my 10year old Grandson who has recently started to collect coins . I have passed onto him my finds with my Whites Classic 111 from the 80's and early 90's.
Thats Brilliant Nigel - let me know if you'd like some roman ones - I could put a few together for you ( with a special price) and all the info on them too... my email is in my bio - All the Best, Alexander
It’s all about value. Not always about the initial value. But also the value YOU can add. Like the story’s of the emperors you add to each Roman coins. Very satisfying to see. If you want the most out of your added value you could also try to auction the coins you find. Find a coin > tell a great story about it > put is on auction starting with initial value. And see what it brings you. It could give you more then some random coin on the internet. People watch your channel because of you, not always about the coins. Your passion, your story, your wanderers. This value you could probably also “sell” (what is not in a bad way). And people are willing to pay to support you and have a coin with a great story. In contrast artwork does not always has a value, pain a blanked, it’s made by the story. A tomato can of andy, it’s all about the story. Make a great story of your finds, wrap the coin in a nice coin holder ?with your holz saga logo?, and sell it trough auction. And put the link in your DESCRIPTION of the videos. You’ll be amazed how many people are interested. Mabel upsell the story book from the kings with it. There is a market you already created and its potential is huge. Just follow your passion and be creative. You already have the audience. And the are willing to support / pay you, they all love what you do.
Great video very informative. I have just purchased the days lite. Taking on it's first dig Sunday. Found this video explaining the program s very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to produce it
Those flies are ridiculous!!! So glad we don't get them that bad here. The half crown is amazing! What a yummy coin to hold in your hand. That field just gave up all manner of treasures. All those tiny Romans! We have had a nasty heat wave, and now waiting to see how bad that hurricane is going to be. I have not been hit in a few years in the Hills, but my sister lives near the coast. She was going to come up for the holiday weekend, but needs to be home preparing instead. I guess tomorrow we see how much is left of Jamaica.
Hi Alexander, great video as always. That piece you found just before the Nero looks like a wreath holder. You normally would have 3 down each side of a coffin lid to hide the screws/nails that close the lid. There would usually be a screw with a plume on top that goes through the middle hole and the fleur ends would be pinned to the lid. I’m speaking in my capacity as a funeral director. 😊 Either way, I would guess it is Victorian. What an amazing coin! 🪙 top 5 on my bucket list Alexander! The shear size is mesmerising they knew how to make stunning coins way back when hope the crown is next for you☺️
Awesome vid with jealous moment after jealous moment 😂 I personally LOVE the cut halves and quarters. What beautiful geometry and I just love the idea of snipping money into pieces as a solution to lower denominations! That Charles I - what a beast of a coin! Stunning!!! Brilliant vid and your knowledge of the Roman coins is so cool!
I'd rather have 20 flies buzzing around that don't bite, than just the one that does. I remember being fortunate enough to live on a stunningly beautiful, unspoilt island, that very few tourists knew about, no electricity at night etc, and sitting down having one of many long conversations with an excellent local artist. He was explaining that visitors complain bitterly about the sandflies, which were bloody ruthless and in abundance, and said they want all of this beauty that nature provides, but despise, and complain about, other parts of the nature that surrounds them. They expect to go somewhere where only the beautiful parts of nature exist, they don't realise that when nature thrives, it all thrives, good and bad. He said they don't realise that they're the only ones out of place in nature, despite being fortunate enough to be the only creature in nature that isn't lower than something else in the food chain. And as if on que, a sea eagle swooped down in our view and rose with a lizard in its talons. I wouldn't let a few harmless flies put you off such beautiful pasture land 😉😊
Thanks Martin i enjoyed reading that and completely understand the point your wise friend makes and it certainly makes one think! I still dont really like metal detecting and trying to concentrate a bit and make some sort of sense when talking to the camera and trying to film, when flies are zipping up your nose and down your throat! Not the same if you are living somewhere but I was fortunate enough to have the choice to leave and come back again when hostlile insectry is less active! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas Haha, fair enough mate 😊 You can master the flies, if you can master the horses. Otherwise a wee blowtorch could work, and blast the pesky blighters to smithereens in your vicinity. A less complicated and not so dangerous and more manageable option could be one of those small rechargeable fly repelling gadgets clipped onto your belt 😉 Happy hunting
Nice clip !! How’s the eBay thing , been watching 😊 As a watcher of your channel , always wondered what I’d have to do in Devon to find something amazing as it’s very quiet. Well next months treasure hunting magazine is where my dream came true 👍. All the best Andy 😊
That Halfcrown is magnificent, nicely done indeed. If those flies are trying to keep you off the fields, give 'Skin So Soft' spray from Avon a go. It's so effective as a bug deterrent, the S.A.S use it. 👍
Another fun clip! That Charles half crown is absolutely fabulous! Congrats on that one! You ROCk as usual! 114 here on Friday!!! UGH! Have a graet week my friend and thanks again for a great video!
Hi Alex, I can't believe I won your roman coin, I only bid today after watching this video and absolutely over joyed. Great to support your videos also which are very informative, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for the additional coin, which is very much appreciated, look forward to your next video, best regards John 😊
Lovely stuff Alex, an' that 1/2 crown = amAZing eh?... 🙏 Quick 'Pro-Tip' if you don't mind matey: (Your HQ shots of Spink Pages etc.) - Try to keep the camera steady if poss. ie. Don't try to simulate the head/eyes whipping across the page to look for a coin pic. It's ok to have a little natural 'fluidity' of movement - but any 'moves' across the page shoould be slooooow and steady really. Hope you don't mind, and that makes sense?... Take care then matey - and thanks 🥰 for the fantastic content as ever! Bobby 🐭
@@HolzHammerSagas Hey 🙏 pleasure Alex... Yeah - I've got an exciting new Deus 2 Program! - but the weather awful/inconsistent atm... Will keep going tho'... 💪 😄
Hi Alexander. I am with you in regard to the Rome commemoratives, I have three (one from Lyon, one from Siscia and one without a clear mint mark) and they are some of my favourite coins among all the ancients that I have. It is also interesting to note the slight differences in the depiction of the wolf and twins from the different mints. I have five of the Constantinople ones and while they are a fine design, I think the wolf and twins are more evocative because they hark back to the beginnings of Rome's rise to greatness. The image on the coins portrays the wolf very differently to the famous statue in the Capitoline Museum. Great weather and yet another successful day on the pasture, with a nice range of finds, rounded off with that magnificent hammered half crown. Enjoy the rest of the summer. PS I know you were annoyed by the flies but in that regard you should be thankful that you aren't here in Australia, as we have to have fly screens on all the windows and doors. On a hot day they come in droves and they seem to be becoming immune to fly sprays and the personal insect repellents.
Thanks John and yes, I too have noticed a big difference in the various wolves appearing on my coins.. Hope all well with you! Flies don't tend to be a big problem over here generally but i think a mixture of sudden heat and lack of their usual horse flesh meant they went for me! Thanks as always for the knowledge and All the Best!
More amazing finds on yet another amazing journey into the past with you, Alexander. That Charles 1st is just WoW!👏 Mandy Manticore and I would love to have a day detecting there with you. No doubts, you have the best metal detecting channel on YT. Keep up the great work! All the best, Lee.
You remind me of my uncle, who brought me up from a small boy, he too was a well spoken, kind gentleman.what machine are you using? And in which area of England please?
Hi Allan - your uncle sounds wonderful! I am mainly detecting in East Anglia and I use a Deus 2 Lite having used a Deus 1 Lite for many years both are fabulous machines! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Hi, thankyou for the reply, I have a garrett approach, I'm looking at the new garrett storm.would love to detect in East anglia, I'm in Yorkshire and have never found a hammered or roman coin.i live in hope
Alexander, Tasci would have chased and eaten the flies. What a huge silver, quite a loss back then I would say. Best wishes to you the family and little Tasci.
I suspect it would have been a bit of a loss! And Tasci would have been brilliant; I dont like him eating flies but it solves a problem as i like flies even less! Hope all well Christian and thanks for watching!
Hi Alex, I always look forward to a new video from you! What a great coin, I didn't know such a big one existed. Next week I'm leaving for England again, first to Cornwall and then to the Cotswold to see if there's anything to be found.
