this does happen - depends how much water there is. This can be due to not enough momentum through brewing that does not get all the water up through the coffee. Otherwise - what usually is the case - is that some water will always fall back down in to the bottom chamber as the brewer cools down.
Any tips on a non-pressurized portafilter/basket that will fit this machine? They seem to be elusive. I'm looking for a small, simple inexpensive machine for my office and this one looks to fit the bill, but I would like to get away from the pressurized basket if possible. Thanks!
There hasn't been any non-pressurized portafilter/basket I've come across sorry. Even if there were - I'd be concerned that the machine may not be able to handle it long term. The best non-pressurized machine I'd go for the Gaggia Classic - but it is 2-3x more expensive.
this is NOT espresso. This is perculated coffee. What a misleading title. Espresso is water-coffee ratios of 2:1 - 2.5:1 brewed at ~9 bars of pressure where as this is coffee brewed at a much longer ratio of ~8:1 with pressure of < 1 bar. I found the title misleading
Wow Kinu is having a sale and is offering the Simplicty (same as rebel without ribs) WITH the brew burr for $295 in the states! It shows up as $315 initially but when actually purchased - $310 with tax and shipping. CANNOT WAIT! I've been eyeing these ever since they came out but went Comandante because they were always so freaking expensive - btw the simplicty comes with magnetic catch cup too - apparently a recent upgrade. Thanks for the review Josh - had you not done this I would've never bothered to check their site - great content as always.
Yup, the handle is also the older one without the folding mechanism. Kinda sad he didn't compare it to the actual J-ultra, as I am currently debating between these two. Not sure a kinu is worth over 100€ more, especially with the plastics... But I'm torn when he said the 1zpresso is better for lighter roasts because I prefer creamy medium roasts.
@@ExtractionFaction I have experience with both the J-Max and the J-Ultra and the testing notes Josh describes from the Kinu Rebel reflects what I usually experience with the Ultra. Testing is subjective though
Which espresso hand grinder would you say, of all of the ones you have tested, is the best for high body, syrupy shots? Still trying to find that one hand grinder that offers a body forward balanced shot with my picopresso. Thermals can be a challenge with that, so I tend to lean toward chocolate, roasted nuts and caramel flavor notes. Coffees roasted into the high 40s to low 50s in the agtron so clarity really isn't desirable as I am not into digging out the smokey flavors! As an example: The K-Max brings too much clarity into these sorts of coffees for my taste and the body is lacking, significantly. This is for long term travel so a hand grinder is a must, but size isn't much of a concern (just a lack of power, lol). Anyway, any suggestions would be apricated! As always, I enjoyed the video and am looking forward to the next one.
This was the worst coffee maker I have ever had. The metal craft was impossible to determine how much coffee you had. Also it has a rim inside the craft that doesn’t let you ever empty it out completely. Ugh! I never wanted to make that much coffee but it requires tall coffee filters that were impossible to find. My guy flooded the counter a couple times by assuming it was empty when it wasn’t. The showerhead only dripped water from a couple holes, so that was a total farce. It was very expensive in comparison to others and worked for less than a year and the whole thing ended up in the trash. Look at the Kenmore coffee maker - it’s wonderful for a reasonable price, has a small footprint, makes any size coffee, easy to clean and keep track of coffee. Bonavita is a horrible machine and the price is ridiculous. SCAM!
Had mine for 15-20 years, still works! Always follow instructions to a ‘T’ yet it’s a hit or miss 😅 Mostly I get a cappo, occasionally it turns out a latte. Regardless, can’t live without my Mukka 🫶🏼
If you’re making yourself a coffee and you blow on the machine to clean it out that’s fine but if you blew on a machine and made me a coffee, I’m not drinking it, buddy who knows what’s in your breath?
How is the grind stability? I was reading on home barista and reddit that some people are having issues with back-to-back-to-back shots. Example: Shot A 30 seconds, shot B 28, shot C 26 and shot D 24. Not a one off either, about a dozen reddit threads and a few on home barista and coffeeforums. To be fair, my ESP does this to an extent. Shot A is slower than BCD but BCD are consistent. As always, thank you for the video!
I haven't seen this much a decrease no - but some is to be expected with all Grinders and B2B2B shots. Mainly due to heat in the grinder system. There's an optimal range - yet with Single Dosing - you'll hardly every get to this range in a setting. FWIW - Using Mazzer Roburs back in the day - it was usually by the 20-30th double shot that the grinder started to behave consistently for dose and grind settings.
I liked the review. I am interested in the quietness. You said it is quiet but how quiet? Ours is super noisy. I don’t want a gooseneck and looked at a number of reviews including Russell Hobbs quiet, which people say becomes super noisy after a month or so. I imagine it is to do with build up of contamination with use. Could we get some idea of noise compared to similar products.
Hello can you let me know for ONE cut expresso what is the best setting with the grinder pro ? I do 8g with setting 10. And i have 37ml for 19 secondes the coffee is good
