I learned quilting from various books and videos. Most of them are for long arm quilters but the knowledge can be adapted for domestic machines. This channel is for others who love quilting and want to try it at home

#1 Your videos are so relaxing to watch. I love the sound and pace of your machine. #2 I am off to practice because I always agonize over the borders sI've chosen 8/24 as the day I celebrate all my very dearest friends. If I had remained married, tomorrow would have been my 40th anniversary. Last year, I recognized I needed to stop mourning the loss of the love of my life. I wrote him an email letting him go. It's been a relief to not not carry that burden anymore. This is being saved to my list and to my quilting journal. 🎶💐💖🫂

I have dipped into your channel on and off over the last year for inspiration and I must congratulate you on how much you have improved. Your work is exquisite and so beautiful. I've been free motion quilting for about a year now and looking back on my work I can also see how much I have improved. When I began it felt strange, awkward and really difficult. Now I can sit at the machine and relax into it. It has become fluent for me. I often find myself drifting off into a kind of meditative state only to find I am quilting without thinking about it. I find it the most relaxing and rewarding skill I have ever learned. Each time I quilt, my skill set is enhanced and improved. I still make mistakes, its never perfect (whatever perfect is), but most of the mistakes are not visible in the bigger picture so I really don't pay much attention to them, I only try to improve next time. Quilting is a skill which can only be improved on and mastered over much time like any other skill. Thank you for sharing your lovely work and process. You are an inspiration for me. x

Thank you most kindly for this lovely feedback. Sometimes I am feel simply blessed because I am getting confirmation that I can help and provide ideas and inspiration. Quilting is a journey for me. I started almost eight years ago and I keep improving the whole time. The last two and a half years were an intense journey as I keep pushing my limits with new ideas. Watching my own work through the camera lens also helped. I aslo see my progress. I am happy to hear that you follow the same way. The ability to notice your own progress and build on it makes a great quilter. And yes, there is no perfect in quilting, or not in the sense of free of imperfection. Perfect quilt is one that is finished, and loved and gives you this moment of joy as you realize that you made it! I love making baby quilts or quilts for my boys. Something to love and put all the good wishes and hopes into it. It is a slow art and I love it. I hope, you will visit more often! ❤❤❤

Hi there! We cannot have lonely, sad, quilt tops laying around! I mean we can and we all do, but some quilting is in order😆. I also have six tops (that I remeber) that are waiting... one day. Quilting is a wonderful activity, hobby, passion. It took me some time to get good at it but it was possoble. My first quilt was pretty bad, but my boys loved it and we cuddled under it for many years. Take it easy, practice and then go for it. Compare only to your work from last week or, so you can see your progress. there are some tricks and easy patterns that help to understand what we are doing. Keep me posted!

I dont know that i agree with you about not being able to be a professional quilter. Your quilts are unique and very marketable. Id bet you would find an audiece happy to buy any of them as custom quilted and one of a kind. I dont think i could do a commisioned quilt for the same reasson. Lol
@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 3 дня назад
Thank you for this wonderful feedback. And thank you for your kind words. You are partialy right. I can sell at least some of my quilts (it is rare due to the price). However, being a professional quilter also means quilting for others the way they want and I may have problems with that. I am very often unable to stick to the plan, especially with more creative projects. I plan one thing and something else is happening. Some clients would be OK with it but some probably not.... I do hope that one day I can shift to be a professional at least part time. I would love to write a book or two, explore some projects and design some quilts...But for now I still have to be a responsible adult. Thank you again!❤❤❤

I agree with you Gosia. When I put my quilt under the machine I put my ruler foot on and it usually stays there until I'm ready for binding. A hopping foot (that I loved when I started learning free motion) is now distracting. I now hate the hop. I made sure when I chose my new Janome machine the free motion feet do not hop. Good video for beginners. Cute baby quilt. Thank you for all you do for us. ❤
@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 4 дня назад
Dear Patricia, we agree on all points. Hopping foot is more stable and tension is less of an issue, but it slows me down and the movement is distracting! I love my ruler foot and I use it most of the time. And baby quilts can be simple. Most important, they are warm, stable, and are made with love. And they are the perfect size for beginners. My quilting circle made over 50 baby quilts for kids from Ukraine and the process helped many of my friends to start quilitng. ❤❤❤

@quiltingnerd
@quiltingnerd 4 дня назад
Hi Cynthia, Hopping foot is great for stability and when you have tons of seams... but I am not good with it... the reflection and the movement distract me and quilting is slower. Ruler foot or gliding foot is so much better! (for me at least). This quilt helped me to relax. Simple, small things that keep you happy. As for the stress.... I got some things organized and planned, some are done or in progress... Next few weeks will be very busy, but sometimes it is like that. Have a wonderful Sunday! ❤❤❤
