Those old "most hated characters" videos were my only real exposure to this hatedom. The funniest part looking back is how vague and meaningless the criteria for them are. Sure, let's put mildly infuriating side characters like bowser jr and big in the same realm as jasper batt jr and manfred von-f*cking karma.

part of me feels lucky i managed to spend $85 on a PSP on eBay with the proper fixings and some UMDs because i never liked the retro game market considering demand
Thats what i hate about those retro youtubers. Over the years they keep making videos on hidden gems or games that people should buy. They would exaggerate about each games as if they were so precious to make up for the clickbait title. Once the viewers caught wind of them, they then would start searching and as a result of the demand, the games become more and more expensive. The market becomes insanely pricey over the years till this very day in August 2024. Games that used to be so cheap ended up becoming as expensive as your monthly bills. Meanwhile, those youtubers that kept talking about the gems never even play their games. They would talk about it for few minutes and then just move on to the next one. Some of them even have a big shelf where they store everything they collected but they never ever put them into the console to play. Thats why i rather emulate than wasting all my money on games. Its not worth it because with emulation, its free, convenient and comfortable where i dont have to worry about hardware failures. However, those youtubers with a big collection have a big ego where they would look down on anyone that ever mentions emulators. They make fun of those people while at the same time, showing the expensive games right in your face just to rub it in and make you jealous at them because they know nobody can beat them.
Emulation is where it's at. Original hardware is dying, original games are dying. Everything is disintegrating. I'm on my 3rd ps2. I have a snes that won't turn on. I replaced my genesis with a clone, and I buy repros from China.
