Sometimes I make serious commentary, sometimes I make silly commentary, and then sometimes I just make dumb sketches. I make content that I find interesting or funny and maybe you'll like it too.
i would just like to point some things that are wrong in this video- first of all, you didn't even consider any of the characters' past. everyone except marshall had a rough time in their childhood which shaped them as a person secondly, you mentioned that ted made robin get rid of her dogs. well do you know that this was actually a compromise that the writers had to make because the actor of ted mosby is allergic to dogs so they had a hard time filming with them thirdly, you mentioned that lily went 'crazy ex girlfriend' mode. yes, her moving to san francisco was selfish but she regretted it and missed marshall. when she came back, marshall flirting with another woman obviously got to her because of a decade of marshall and lily being together. i would just like to end this by saying that this is not a hate comment but i want people to read this to get a different perspective. i think that these all are people with flaws and they are learning from their mistakes(except ted), they all are overall great people and iconic characters.
I feel like you didnt really understand the concept of a sitcom, when you say that Barney isnt real, but the other characters are... Those characters are all extremely unrealsitic and are only done this way to be entertaining.
Idk found it disingenuous making it so that Barney the character and the real Barney were viewed differently. You can’t just not take the bad side and only see the good side. We could ignore Lily breaking up people as her “character” but keep all the good things about her like helping Marshall through his father’s death as the “real” Lily. It doesn’t really make sense to me how you pick and choose what counts as real and the character. Also yeah Ted doesn’t change that dramatically within the show but I always thought it’s because at the beginning he always had a good heart but just didn’t know how to express himself and overthinks things way too much. In the clips where you show him at the St. Pattys Day Club. 2030 Ted tells his kids that he was a jerk that night. He absolutely sucked and that’s the point. He was glad he didn’t meet the mother the way he acted then. And that night served as kinda of a reminder. The Clip were he sent that weird letter. You also left out the part of how he put the letter in he realized how stupid he actually was. That’s a character flaw but nothing that makes me hate him. He’s just an idiot when it comes to his love life.
Barney should definitely be higher. multiple of the things he does on the show or brags about are straight up r-words. the bad sexual one of the two r-words.
I absolutely agree with the title of this video, but the order is so not right! Let’s go: Marshall. Easily the best one. He loves his friends, his wife, and his family and shows that love multiple times during the show. He gives tough advice when he has to and even tells Robin to move out after she breaks Ted’s heart. The judge job episode is his lowest point, and he was still thinking about what was best for him and Lily. More: he admits he’s wrong and goes to Italy with Lily. He doesn’t suck at all. Robin sucks so much, man. She literally goes back and forth with Barney and Ted, and only wants the guys when she can’t have them. On the day of her freaking wedding, she says to her fiancé’s best friend that she and he could run away together, even though she had rejected him months earlier. Not to mention the time she cheated on Kevin with Barney and then rejected Barney with no explanation. She’s one of the worst. You nailed Lily’s part. She really sucks. But I still think that Barney and Robin are worse. Putting Barney in that low position is madness. Barney’s lies and crazy plays can’t be ignored. Do you remember that girl he took to a forest, stole her car, and left her there? Who does that? He slept with Robin in season 4 without thinking for a second about how Ted would feel, cheated on Nora (one of the best characters in the show), and shows no interest in his friend’s problems multiple times. Ted really is a jerk sometimes. He cheated on Victoria and did some bad stuff to some girls during the show… But he actually seems pretty decent to me, in comparison to the others. My ranking would be: • Barney • Robin • Lily • Ted • Marshall
i agree with you, except that you rated every character as a person, but only Barney as a character. I think Barney doesnt suck badly, he is in his core loyal to his friends and I really loved his character development :)
I really agree with the position of barney, but not by the same reason. Barney starts the show in the biggest of jerks position, and near the break-up with nora and after he meets his dad, he started being a really great guy, I cryied rewatching the show 5 times, when Marchall lost his dad, when Tracy played La Vien Rose, the end credits with all the cast footage and the 2 last ones where barney`s, when he goes visit his dad and asks why he cant be a surbarban dad for him and when he teaches those 2 boys that nothing is legendary without his friends. Barney says in all the series that the easiest girls are those with daddy issues, but he was the one with daddy issues, but after all he was the best friend of them all (bellow marshall, but he doesnt count)
Marshall is the goodest of boys, I will not deny. The only thing against him is the job decision, which Lilly did the same thing in season 1, and the slut shaming of Robin. Other than that, I'd die for Marshall Robin being only at "sucks" is so bad. How many relationships did she ruin for her own benefit? She needs to be higher on the scale.
ok look I loved Barney's development and stuff but HOW, the actual HECK, is he listed as the 2nd LEAST BAD person in the show??? Yes Ted and Lily have manipulative tendencies worth calling out, but Barney legitimately admits to, engages in, and encourages assaulting women via manipulation, lies, trickery, getting them drunk, etc, etc. He's an actual textbook certified r*pist, but somehow Ted, Robin, and Lily are all WORSE than him on this meter???? XD Does not compute :P
Interesting perspectives, I do think there’s a difference though of character’s personalities sucking and having interesting characters that make for a good story and tv show
I get it, but I also gotta take umbrage with placing Barney above Robin. Barney absolutely does suck and does heinous shit - he just happens to do it to no-name side characters instead of the ones the audience is attached to. Robin lacks emotional maturity herself just like Barney, but you can make the same arguments and empathize the same way with her and the reasons behind it. 🤷 But also, this is all incredibly subjective and like I said, I do get it. I think we can all agree that Marshall is the best and Ted sucks the most though.😂 (Yes, I know you put Lily at the bottom instead of Ted, but I'm not even gonna make an argument against that, Ted is just the worst in my own book.🫡)
I assumed grinch always meant that ted called her a bitch (it also almost ryhmes with grinch), but then lily says "son of a bitch" all the time so it was always so confusing. Honestly i dont get americans strange take on the word cunt. To me i feel like bitch is FAR worse to call someone especially a woman. Not sure if this is an age thing or not but it always seemed strange to me.
