Finally! After years of uploading randomized fishing content to my other RU-vid channels, I came to the determination that fishing is a big enough part of my life that I can focus an entire channel just to the pursuit of the fish!
I hope you will follow along on the adventures and maybe I'll see you out on the water!
Raised in the Uintas. Swift water is difficult to fish. After a run in with a bear a cougar and 3 damn dogs, i dont go into the woods without my Glock 10mm.
3 dogs at once? Domestic pet dogs?? I was walking about 400 yards from my truck in the snow up from a trailhead here in Utah a few weeks back. Some other Christmas tree hunters had their pitbull. That dog came a charging at me and got close enough to have me pretty worried until the owner could rush up and get it away from me. All the while I’m trying to talk nicely to the dog and be friendly. Where was my gun? In the TRUCK!! Lesson learned, take the damn gun when fishing or anywhere because even domestic pets could be a real danger!
Still absolutely love them! Hope I’m not too rough on them and put too many unrepairable holes into them because they are fantastic! First waders I’ve ever had that my socks stay dry inside of the neoprene! Would buy them again no question.
I came across your videos. You are doing exactly what I have been wanting to do. To find some remote beautiful fishing spots, and enjoy the views, peace, and solitude all by myself. I appreciate you posting your videos. I hope to do that, as well. I just bought a dirt bike (2 stroke 300 GasGas, a GoPro, and all my fly fishing gear. I moved to Utah coming up on 2 years ago August, and what you are doing has been my goal, as I said. I’d love to get some advice on where to go, and just pick your brain. Thanks for your efforts to post your experiences and I look forward to watching more. Hit me up if you would.
Haaaaay!! Good to hear it! Sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I usually check messages over on my moto channel much more regularly, as I rarely have time for creating fishing videos as of late. Be sure to check those Moto videos out over there! @captmaxadv
I've been an avid fishermen since a child. I've camped and fished in extremely remote places for years. I am very comfortable in the forest and rugged wilderness areas. To the point I've taken my own family out with me every summer from first thaw until fall when hunting season begins. Last summer had such a experience with my wife and children. I had to question if it is even safe to be out in the forest anymore after decades of enjoying these woods. We were followed nearly a mile through the forest by a group of something. Not bears or cougars or even human beings. We ran to the vehicle and drove like hell off the mountain. My wife is now terrified of going deep into the forest. My kids refuse to go anywhere near where this happened. I really don't know what others think. After an experience like this. You won't ever go into the forest without wondering who or what is watching you.
I had a really freaky experience fishing a couple weeks back, where a guy approached me. I talk to anybody & everybody while I'm fishing, but immediately, I knew this guy had targeted me & I was in great danger. He finally left, when I had a fish on, completely ignored it, and wouldn't turn my back to him. Everything he did & said, was trying to be harmless & disarming, trying to charm me into letting my guard down & taking my hand off my weapon, (a butcher bait knife, and then my 'personal safety device' clearly grasped in my hand, in my bag, and he was never detered.) He spent about 15 minutes trying to get me off guard, no matter how many times I pleaded with him to leave, repeating that I fish alone, and to leave me be. He kept his hands, placed on his thighs, the entire time, even while he was walking up to me. He never spoke with hand gestures, they just stayed on his thighs, trying to seem harmless. He had invited me to fish originally, when I pulled up, on the dock he was on. Even at that time, I said, no thank you sir. I fish by myself. I went about 100 yards away. There was someone that stayed in his truck the entire time, keeping watch on everyone entering the parking area. After he watched me about an hour, he put his fishing gear up. so I thought he had left. He didn't. It was just so he could approach me, unencumbered. I realized later, how they had parked, was for the look out to keep watch. They were backed in, so nobody would see a plate. He kept asking questions trying to see if I lived nearby or if anyone knew where I was, and completely ignored ALL my repeated requests every sentence, to leave me alone. Very scary indeed. I think he knew, I had him bested in a Mexican stand off, and that's why he left. I've fished, usually alone, for many years. This was even scarier than when I came across poachers in CA, and even growers deep in Humboldt.
Daaaaaamn!! Wow dude. Helluva experience indeed! One can only imagine what dangers could have befell you. Goad you kept your guard up! I generally always pack a 9mm, especially when fishing. Mostly for animals, but it gives so much more peace of mind in general. Glad you’re all good! Too bad you couldn’t get any follow up on evil doers in that area after you left.
These waders are fantastic! I haven’t used them too many times, but they’re sturdy as hell and a pure joy to wear! The biggest advantages are: gore tex is fully effective at allowing breathabilty when hiking to and from, the knee pad cushions, and just all the advanced features of the straps and zippers! You’ll love em. 🙌🏻 🎣
Ive played that walking back in the dark game, far to many times, while alone. I prefer not to see any animals or people after dark. To many sketch stories, but its hard to feel like they'd ever happen to me. Great day out there, super relaxing place with gorgeous rock canyon views. Gotta love them gorgeous cutts among background like that.
