This channel will mostly be about the video game, IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, and most of the videos I post will be from that game. I hope to encourage others to play it.
I only do Single Player stuff. So, it's me against the game's AI. In all of the "Aces" series missions, the AI opponent is set to "Ace" experience level. Thanks for watching.
I miss the old IL2 gameplay, especially with all of the available mods packs. There has never been a better ginner experience, and the sense of speed was always incredible. The new series of IL2 suck ass compared to the original series. I'm sorry, it just does.
I think You make a serious mistake, decreasing the Power of engine, to stay behind Zero.Just keep the Power trying to climb higher , You can get him later, reaching tactic advantage. Never loose speed, that is the Point. That is the Martial Art.
Excellent dive out to avoid the shots from the six. Seperate and go head on is a good tactic. Flying back to your wingmen was a winner. The engine sputtering at the end makes a trip back to base quesionable, however in 1942 New Guinea there seemed to be air stips everywhere :)
I was lucky it was a Zero on my six and not a Tony. A P-40 will easily outrun a Zero in a dive, but not so easy with a Tony. During the second head on engagement the bandit hit one of my oil lines. The engine still performed well, but there was so much oil on the windscreen I was having a difficult time seeing in front of me. Because of that, I missed a couple of shots at the number 3 Zero, and my number 7 had to shoot him off my tail. Fortunately we were close to home base, so even if the engine ran out of oil, making it back to the airfield was not a problem. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the positive feed back. :^)
In new IL-2 BoN its practically impossible to achieve this kind of kill in head to head confrontation. The eight 0,50cal guns in P-47s working like eight 0,303 in this flight sim, you almost must fire whole ammo to get kill.
On the other hand, these two kills seemed to involve a quite small number of hits that nonetheless dismantled those crates. I'd suspect increased ammo effectiveness was enabled. I generally must get rather more hits--actual hits, not just shots fired--to do such destruction. (Been playing this since 2003. ;) )
I thought you were going to dive under the bridge. This one is a hard fight. You literally couldn't out dive and out run or out climb or out turn him. You only have chance on head on shots and I'm glad you made him overshoot without getting killed. You basically did the only thing you could do and you did it very well. Bravo.
I thought about going under the bridge, but there were too many pylons holding it up. ;^) Because I screwed up the initial engagement, I really didn't have any other option but to attempt getting him to overshoot. I won't make that mistake again in the future when I engage a K-4 while flying a P-38. Thanks for watching.
@@LancelotChan That's not likely. I don't fancy spending the money it takes to keep up with all the latest greatest stuff, and they don't have any PTO content.
@@tomhighway1952 No problemo, I'll still be watching. You've improved your shooting recently. You no longer suddenly stomp on the rudder or jerk just when you shoot hoping to spray and pray. That's a lot better!
That D pulls off a sweet defensive move but in the end the twin Allison engines and a superior turning ability gives the P38 the win. 👍 thumbs up video.
Notice how the reflector glass takes on a prominent yellow splotchiness when your plane goes inverted? This phenomenon of the gunsight reflector texture being most apparent when the Sun is shining from underneath (as though the floor/hull is transparent) is a consequence of one or more factors nit fully appreciated by the creator of the sight. In some cases the sight glass goes quite 'milky' and hazy, significantly reducing contrast. Some windscreens suffer similarly, too. The opacity of the texture, its Ambient and Diffuse values in the texture's .mat file and the orientation of the model's surface normals play a role. In my mods to sights and for my new creations I take such factors into consuderation. Then there's no unrealistic enhancement of the glass that could occur only if the Sun could shine upward through the floor. ;) Furthermore, I do add a new element where aporopriate. And that is a reflection of the collimating lens. It dynamically varies in intensity as the angle of the Sunlight changes, being strongest when the Sun shines straight down, directly on the lens.
This is a real good mission for download and play 👍💯 note on the gun cam the close up on the A6M Zero the a.i. pilots puts full flaps down to stay with low speed flight. I think it is the best of any flight sim.
Here's a link to the mission download for those of you who might be interested in trying the mission for yourself. www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=3194
Thanks for watching, Douglas. I'm considering doing another series on being a wingman instead of the leader of a flight. Unfortunately, as I've discovered, Those sorties take a long time because the AI pilots don't seem to be very aggressive. They also do really stupid stuff, and it's difficult to keep them alive. ;^)
Thanks for watching and commenting. One of the points of the "Aces" series was to not have any advantage on either side at the onset. I refrain from shooting at the opponent in the initial merge because I usually take them out immediately, and that makes for dull, short videos. ;^) I actually prefer head on shots when going up against opponents who have a more maneuverable plane than mine. Getting sucked into a turn fight against a more agile opponent usually doesn't end well. You invariably wind up "low and slow", and that is not a good place to be in any of the American planes, especially when going against Japanese planes. American planes aren't that good at turn fighting. Some of them do "okay", if you keep the speed up.
Anatomy 109K4 low speed and climb advantage. P51 high speed manouvering advantage. It looked like the a.i. pilot was trying to force a flat spin. You held it together long enough to get the victory. Air to air is more than a one circle fight. Well done, thumbs up video.
i have always liked those early John Wayne P40's with the twin fiftys mounted up front in the nose. The Ki43 is probably the most dangerous plane in the game. staying high an nose up shooting is most likely the best tactic against an ace. Thumbs up video.
Try to stabilize before firing. You seem to have a habit of sudden movement just when firing, either up or down or left or right. Try not to move suddenly when firing. :D
