The mission in this video is a recreation of a historical event that took place on November 5th, 1943, in the Solomon Islands. I created this mission using the FMB tool in VPModpack. The player flies an F6F-3 Hellcat, and is tasked with protecting the bombers. The bombers are tasked with taking out the Japanese cruisers anchored in the harbor at Rabaul.
The first half of the video is mostly the bombers doing their job.
This mission is available to download and play from the "Mission4Today" website. It's title there is, "Air Strike Rabaul 11-5-1943"
If you like the video, please leave a like and a comment.

Good to see that, unlike too many players, you are not keeping your virtual head practically glued to the headrest. 😅 Rather, you're making use of the Z-axis (fore-aft) component of 6dof movement so as to lean away from the headrest and thereby obtain a better view aft (and enjoy a better view through the gun sight.) I tend to bang on endlessly on this topic, groaning when I see videos where the player is suffering a quite needless restriction to visibility of the outside world. It amazes me how so many folk don't appreciate the benefits of setting up and using their head tracking gear to full advantage.

After using the track ir since Christmas, I've found that I don't prefer it. In fact I dislike it considerably. I fly well with it, but my gunnery skills suffer when I use it. I miss a lot of head on and crossing shots that I normally make when I'm not using it. Can't seem to keep my head still enough to line up those quick snap shots. So, although I keep it on whenever I'm flying, it's usually "paused", and I just use the hat switch for views. I have the head movement functions mapped to my throttle. So I can do head up/down, left/right, and forward/backward along with the hat switch. It works pretty well. I do use track ir when I'm making a video though.

@@tomhighway1952 You should definitely look at setting up a bigger deadzone in the camera as a replacement for that, with a bigger deadzone the camera will center even if your head is moving a bit and you can adjust it so that that you don't accidentally misalign your shot but can still glance around quickly

@@KvltKommando I figured out how to do that the day after I posted that response. ;^) It perturbs me that the Track IR5 doesn't come with a manual, and that I couldn't find one on line. I also couldn't find a decent tutorial on line. At least not one I could understand. But I finally figured out how to make a dead zone in the center, and I'm enjoying the head tracker a lot more now. After some more practice, I'll probably like it a lot.

Yeah, I didn't want to give folks the impression that I "always" win. Sometimes I get impatient and/or greedy, and make a bad decision. Most of the missions I create with the FMB tool are fairly challenging. If you fly one of them several times, you'll likely get shot down at some point. ;^) Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

Sometimes the Knight in Shining Armor slays the Dragon, and sometimes the Dragon eats the Knight. ;^)
