That looks good. I'd like to find my love of cooking, again. Maybe its eating the prepackaged crap that stealing my energy & enthusiasm for life. You've made me reconsider if what i consume is affecting my quality of life

Personally I love the carved look. I keep it on anything that doesn’t need it for a logical reason. That includes spoon and chisel handles, and all lot of my diy wooden tools. Looks rustic and honestly really pleasing to me. I use a scraped surface on most of my tool handles and walking sticks, with only a little rough sanding so I don’t get splinters. I only truly flatten or round out something for joinery or furniture.

I solo built my tiny house too! Used steel framing so I could stand the walls up because it's much lighter than timber.
@streampunk76
@streampunk76 Год назад
Oh that’s awesome! Lots of people have asked if metal is an option. How did you like working with it?
@vanessagrierson9392
@vanessagrierson9392 Год назад
@@streampunk76 I think it's qualities are superior as it's way lighter, unaffected by moisture, and always perfectly straight unlike wood however where the steel intersects the double layer tends to break a lot of finer drill bit when you pre-drill the holes while attaching the internal cladding (it's risky to simply screw your fixings with out a pilot hole because screws often break or hit the second layer of the overlap and go off in a different direction 🙄) also I wish I had glued some timber blocking inside specific intersections where my internal cladding ply sheet corners met because it's easy to over screw the steel and then you have a loose screw head that pops out due to movement once plastered over which is really annoying. If it had a depth of timber behind as well it would solve the issue. The weight factor was the main reason as my 'tiny' is fairly large with two upstairs lofts and in my country (not sure where you are) I am restricted to 3.5 tonne weight limit. The dimensions are 2.4m x 6m on the bottom floor and 2.4 m x 7.2m on the loft floor which overhangs/shelters the back entrance deck. I also built in all the furniture and cabinetry myself to control the weight and sizes that I wanted. I used 9mm ply linings and 19mm ply for the structural stuff ie loft floor over framing and stairs, some cupboards, bench tops, shelves that hold weight like for oven and fridge etc. I clad the exterior in long run vertical colour steel corrugate and used a 20mm cavity of thermal bridging bats over the framing/weather proof barrier. Even though I didn't require an extra cavity because of the corrugation profile of the external cladding it gives me extra piece of mind for dealing with any possibility of water ingress. Especially since I also made and installed my own steel flashings for the windows. It's not fully finished yet but I got really excited about living in it so my son and I have already lived in it while I saved up for the expensive gas fixtures and tradesperson to install them. Just some trim and a few other finishing bits to go 🥳Lately I spent time preparing a permanent site to shift it to with all my sewer and water connections, washing line and a garden shed to keep excess crap in. I'm really excited to move it soon then I will start on the outside gazebo/deck
