Jewelry advice and answers from a professional for real people wanting real answers.
The last thing we need more of is ignorance, especially blatant and deliberate ignorance. You are here on this channel so you can keep learning.
If You are frustrated trying to find information, rather than opinion, this is for YOU.
Most are either selling you their product or they are someone who has no experience to answer these jewelry questions correctly. This channel is different.
I have years of hands on experience with bench jewelers, stone dealers, appraisers and most importantly people just like You. This gives me unique perspective to balance all these views into REAL answers
I have taken formal jewelry education in the form of GIA's AJP program and the full Colored Gemstones course.
Some constructive feedback - you spend a lot of this video showing yourself (no joke - maybe 95%!) and your face while explaining instead of what gemstone newbies probably want to see, which is visual examples. Case in point, your thumbnail image for this video was of gems and not yourself. While some of us can use our imaginations, it would have been better, for instance, to visually demonstrate the differences between carats, a bigger carat example, and how a mm measurement loses the other dimensions, while a carat captures mass and better represents the stone. In other words -- you could keep this same audio, but instead have a lot more gem footage. Presumably viewers want to see the gem themselves, and not the teacher, especially if viewing the teacher actually takes away from the topic that should be demonstrated with visuals, instead of the viewer's brain. This is a strength of video -- you provide the "imagination."
Wow they are all so beautiful! I had no idea jade came in purple, blue and gray! I have never been more excited about a gem stone. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you!!!!!
Moissanite (Silicon Carbide)is the latest diamond simulant. Like CZ, it was initially praised and pushed by retail jewelry stores with a high price. Now CZ rough material for cutting costs a few pennies per carat. Is moissanite better than CZ? It is better for the retailer since he is making a big markup on price over what a CZ would cost. Actually, visually the CZ appears much brighter and is colorless, unlike moissanite which has a faint greenish overtone. I am a Graduate Gemologist, a chemist and a faceter (I cut gemstones).
The stones hold zero value. They are popped out and the metal is melted. A generational ring? If the diamond is crap it’ll have no value. Even if it’s a great diamond, it will chip and have inclusions.
I think the whole idea of birthstones is just a sales technique. Which would be helpful for a jeweler. If I am going to buy a stone, it will be for its beauty, not for which month I was born. I did enjoy your video.
Seems like a big deal over nothing. The big 3 are the big 3 for a reason. Except for a few rare gemstones, like Paraiba Tourmaline, and Alexandrite, they generally carry the most value per carat. One of the dealers i buy from has a variety of categories that you can search through, including precious gemstones and semiprecious gemstones. The only real reason I can see to remove semi-precious as an identifier, is to allow jewelry retailers to jack up their profit margins on popular semiprecious stones.
I have lavender, watermelon, apple, dark green and dark purple { looks black, really pretty } - loose stones jade. After seeing thine last photo at the end, I would 🤗 love🎐 light and 🟦dark blue, 🥺🤯WOWIE❗❕
Thanks for the appreciated info, I purchase loose, Jade stones online to create my own jewelry. It doesn't have to be "Imperial." The less expensive and/or dyed gemstones work for me. As long as I realize its true quality and value, I still love them. I merely buy inexpensive ones, 🤩LOL {{ for now . }} Lavender and pink Jades are my favvvvvvvvvvvv. They are truly stunning.💎💍 I wear my DIY - Designed Jade Bracelets and necklace every single day for 🙏blessings, healing, healthy🛐 protection and prosperity.
