just a little tip with the top water fishing when they blow up don't set the hook right away give them just a second bc alot of times they only have the legs shorting the leggs is also going to increase your hookup ratio
Always fun fishing top water. I use 50 lb braided in the pads also. Good stiff 7 or 8 ft rod and set hook like you mean it. Some people might think you are going to rip their lips off, but you don't. Horse'em in.
You could but if you do itll make it less weedless. All depends on the cover you want to fish. I've been trying to fish the thickest stuff I can find lately so I need them completely weedless. I did find the lunkerhunt prop frog though, it has a special stinger between the 2 back legs and is really effective!
@@jasonhaswell9289 sure does. Also I started using a new frog yesterday and my hook up rate was insane. It's called the jackal frog. I think because it's so soft and the way the hooks are set. I caught a ton on that one
Some nice bass for sure!!! Those gills would go in my fish basket. I’ve caught some pretty good bass on your 2.0’s along with nice gills, rockbass, red ears 👍
Fletchers is overpopulated with bluegills anymore the populations are out of whack due too people keeping too many predator fish out of there. I haven't caught big gills in there in years. Still good crappies but gills are stunted
Nope, actually the decline of them is why bluegills got messed up. Mostly started from people killing all the dogfish, between them and pike they keep populations of panfish where they're meant to be. Didn't help that the one tackle shop was telling everyone to kill them....pike fishing hasn't been anything like it used to be. It's a shame. Still great bass in there but they can't keep the bluegills in check. I sure hope it comes back to where it should be
Hey!!! Thank you! I haven't fished that one yet mostly due to the depths. It seems like it would be a tough lake to fish. I need to cross it off my list though. I'll head there soon🙌
I have a Old Town kayak with a Minn kota on it and love to troll. I fished that lake a couple of years ago and caught some nice crappies and a 5lb bass. I primarily use Beetle Spins and Rapalas. Just like you I like to try different lakes.
Send me a message if you want to head to the back lakes. The damn you were at can easily cross a 16ft John boat. There are 5 lakes behind Ausable all surrounded by woods and filled with fish
lol coming back is a little harder going from power water level to higher but that teeter totter really makes it easy The first lake back there “little Ausable lake” has some giant pike
Yes it has Walleyes so does the big lake but very hard to catch unless you go real early morning, the tend to be in the big hole off the point to the west of the launch
@th6308 I kinda figured. Probably because of the boat traffic. That little lake should be good all day I'd imagine. I'm going to try and go back real soon
Gotta tell ya one of my favorite ways to catch Bass is with a frog.... yes need to go heavy on the braid with a fast action rod.! Awesome video Brother 👊
@@ripbozo1540 you're welcome! They have alot of forage, tons of minnows, frogs and crawfish in the river. I like to fish jigs and plastics along the edges of holes and around slack water. Some of the marshy spots of the river you can toss frogs and do well. Usually anything that resembles a minnow will get smashed though. The freedom Baitz barracuda in white is a favorite of mine on a 4/0 bass hook
Nope I can make one though. They aren't made much for swim action like the xrap, they're a jerk bait so with the jerk of the rod tip they dart side to side. I feel they're no different than the rapala xrap
