@postureellie
@postureellie 9 часов назад
It really depends on the body. Every body is different (regardless of being post-partum or not) and I wouldn't like to suggest anything without knowing more about your body first. Generally speaking, if it feels good, do it more! If your body grumbles (even a little bit), back off the exercise xxx

I have so many issues with my posture, first, I had an anterior pelvic tilt, and then I started being really inactive, because I was doing a lot of crochet orders and sitting in terrible posture. So then I started to notice that my chest wall was really compressed, and my shoulder started to round forward, as well as my pelvis, kind of being stuck in a posterior position as if it was tucked under. Then I started to force an upright posture, so that I wouldn’t look hunched over while I was walking and that started to give me a lot of issues such as vertigo and more back pain. Overtime I started to notice that I have developed a really extreme sway back posture. So I started to walk in a way that wouldn’t let my knees lock or push my hips foward. And I kept doing random exercises as well as PRI stuff for ribcage expansion. Now walking I have noticed that my upper body kind of wants to lean forward, which I thought was vertigo because it felt like I was swaying back-and-forth again. But I recorded myself and relaxed my body (made sure my knees don’t lock but don’t fully bend my knees) and when I do that I lean forward. But when I let my knees lock , I go back into a sway back pasture.
@Rokia2003
@Rokia2003 3 дня назад
And to avoid the swayback I started to kinda of walk with my toes lifted so that I wouldn’t go into swayback, so now it’s like I’m stuck in a slight hinge. Everything is a mess

@postureellie
@postureellie 2 дня назад
You're not doing anything wrong, you're just exposing how your hips are currently stuck in internal rotation. It would be a case of focusing on posture exercises that don't ask you to load through your leg (like standing) whilst trying to straighten out the hip/knee. You most likely need more supine positions. I can help with this type of thing during my 4 month deep dive course, The Posture Revolution. Check it out on my website! @postureellie
@postureellie 2 дня назад
I actually don't use this anymore (it was too low/too floppy) and I can't really offer dimensions as it's dependant on your leg length. You are looking for something supportive (like a coffee table/bed) and you can use cushions underneath your calf to prop the lower leg up sufficiently so it doesn't flop to the side/or being held with some tension to prevent it flopping to side. Storage container + cushions should be fine I think! xxx

How can you trust your intuition when the body is scrambled enough to be in so much pain? IMO your intuition is scrambled too. My #1 reco is to, as Ernest Hemingway wrote, "Write about what hurts." Then study John E Sarno, MD and his theory on TMS... NY Times best selling author. Then, get some magnesium oil and rub it in... it calms the nervous system and aids in detox. Then do buteyko breathing like crazy. Your pain level is an indication of problems in your body and subconscious. Positive thinking is rainbows and unicorns. You need to work hard to get pain free.

Thank you for this video! If my body created the scoliosis to create balance from having a wonky pelvis (which i do have), would it be a bad idea to address the scoliosis before the wonky pelvis? I do have back pain where the scoliosis is, so a relief from that would of course be nice..! Thanks again.
@postureellie
@postureellie Месяц назад
It really depends on the body and how it responds. Some people will be best off tackling the scoliosis first and some people may be best going straight after the pelvis. In my opinion, normally it's best to approach scoliosis from the breathing, shoulders, and thoracic area first, before tackling the pelvis. But everyone is different! xxx

@postureellie
@postureellie Месяц назад
Hey Enrico - it's ok to do anything you like, as long as it feels good for you. What I would say is that, if you're crossing your feet, you'll likely also be taking your knees a bit wider and putting your hips into rotation. The neutral position of the hip (knees together) will help you connect better with the feet in this exercise. So I personally wouldn't do it that way but it doesn't mean you shouldn't if it feels good! xxx

This sequence has helped so much in the past too, however I've done it about 6 times today, getting loads of relief until I have to get up from sitting on the loo! Hey Helen. Sorry to hear about your sciatica and I'm pleased the routine gives relief whilst you do it. I am unable to offer advice without knowing anything about your body I'm afraid. I would also have a look at my free 45 mins 'Intro to Posture' webinar (you can find on the homepage of my website) which will run you through some function tests and may help you to determine which area of your body you need to work on most to help relieve pain more quickly. That's great you've found exercises that bring you relief for a few hours! Fantastic work - you have found exercises that suit you and deliver the desired effect that your body is after. The work now would be to keep doing these exercises more frequently and probably add a few more into the mix to build strength so your body can hold itself pain free for longer and longer periods of time. The process takes time but you're describing what everyone goes through at the beginning! It’s strange that fighting feels easier than being gentle with ourselves
@postureellie
@postureellie 2 месяца назад
I think I am learning that this is because very few people have much self-compassion (myself included - until lately). We are so cruel to ourselves (in a way we would never be to anyone else) that we think we somehow 'deserve' it or that being kind to yourself is taking 'the easy route out' or something. And actually, it's this lack of self-compassion that is holding us back in so many ways. I have recently realised that actually, my work solely boils down to teaching people self-compassion. That's all my job is! xxx

@@postureellie yes that's so true and why do you think it took you so long to become more self compassionate despite working in the health industry for a little while now? (no need to answer but maybe it could be a good topic for a post/video). I also think that feeling safe within and trusting oneself are key ingredients to healing. I am still figuring out how to feel safe and how to trust myself on this healing journey... i guess that being more present/mindful of how i feel, what i want etc will help and meditation will help with those things as well but i tend to go on autopilot to try to numb the pain (both mental and physical).

@@eleonoreconstant I think because I am human like everyone else and have a lot of unresolved issues stemming from my childhood. Only recently have I started therapy and this has been life changing for me (and breathwork last year too). I didn't even realise how cruel I was being to myself, it was totally subconscious. Now I have more self-compassion and boundaries with people, I have more space to be compassionate and kind to them as well and just feel so much better. I have also realised how I have literally numbed my pain my entire life and I now feel like I am feeling life again - it's great but been a journey!
