Thanks for Visiting Red Fox Garage. I have been an automotive enthusiast since the early 90's with a particular attraction to fox body mustangs. I have been test and tune racing off and on for 20 years and have acquired some knowledge from the school of hard knocks. The objective of this channel is to share our racing and automotive experiences, good and bad. My current goal is to participate in as many local 6.50 index races as possible with my 86 fox body. We'll be sharing technical information, product reviews, as well as racing footage and and endless list of mustang projects.
Interesting. My 2013 mustang gt blew a fuse #7 and I replaced it, then it blew again shortly after and after changing the fuse again the motor came on and was screeching. I figured bad motor so I replaced it and the original fuse, I did notice inside the connection had some burn damage so I put some terminal grease and plugged it up. It ran for a week with no issues however I noticed while sitting in traffic with my AC on it started to climb in temp and ac slowly stopped cooling similar to before so when I pulled over, I noticed the fan motor wasn't working, I left it alone for about 2hrs and cranked it back up and started driving and had no issues, when I drove back to my house with no ac (15minutes away) I pulled in and the fan was on high running. I turned on AC to see if it was causing the issue but the car ran the way it was supposed to. I'm not sure what's going on. The fan motor is new and motorcraft. Car has 125kmiles
pertronix manual says only plug their distributors into their digital hp black ignition box. ok just to attach like stock setup to the coil? want to get an hp box but have to wait a month or so. got the vehicle with just pertronix distributor and flamethrower coil... and it runs.
If you were going to fit a 325/50/15 tire without shortening the rear end, what back spacing would you recommend on a 15x10 wheel? I’m in the process of mini tubing my fox and I’m unsure if I should shorten the rear end or not to achieve that tire size.
I think 7.5 BS on a 15x10 would put it just about right with a stock length rear. I now run a 3/4 spacer and the tire still sits inboard a noticeable amount more than stock with a 6.5 bs.
Still my dominator wont connect to the lcd . I have the problem you had with the low battery and then suddenly wont connect to the laptop. Im kinda lost. Its a new unit. Bricked after loading the v6
I like where you put the mega fuse it looks neat in that spot. You helped me figure out where to put mine. On the small plug I went to the junkyard and found a newer car with the 3g. I unpinned the small plug wire and all. then pinned it into my plug so there is no splice there. Thanks for the help.
@@CarlosMoreno-jv9vh the two wires are replaced by the 4 gauge wire because the two wires together aren't as heavy as the 4 gauge pluses it cleans up the wire harness a little bit
another thing you can do is, there is an adjustment to get it to light off faster so you dont have to crank it so long. but i unfortunately cant remember what is was somebody on youtube had it and makes the car start so much faster. i believe it was an ignition setting not fuel. i have a question, your none adjustable cam/caster plates, do they make the steering really heavy? i was thinking about this kind. thanks ron
Thanks for watching, if you think of the setting please let me know. As far as the fixes cc plates, I didn’t notice them changing the steering effort, it may have affected it, but if so it was very minimal. The car does seem to go down the track with less wandering. I like them, as long as you have adjustable a arms.
@@redfoxgarage9660 my original post got deleted somehow. if you go to leech motorsports he has a video on the hard starting, has to do with using stock ford cranking timing numbers and crank to run rpm. made big difference in mine. ron
There is a product called Simple Stage that is really simple to set up and the cost i believe is $99! The settings are infinite! You just need it plus a momentary button! It works really well!
Awesome work brotha. Your car is working well. You ever figure a good setting on the rear Viking shocks I have same ones and can't seem to find a sweat spot
Thanks for the kind word!! I have tried changing a few things, but the car continues to top out the struts and unload the rear on a marginal track. I am planning to scale it and get a bit more serious about getting it to hook consistently on a bad track in the next spring… so as of now I don’t have any useful info on dialing in the Vikings. I disagree these old school 6AL boxes are great I got 10 solid years out of mine the problem guys have is not grounding the box correctly always run ground directly from battery not fire wall always use 12 guage for ground and hot wire, and have a good quality battery that’s will last for years

My best NA time is a 7.80 and best 150 shot time is 6.78 I'm running an Edge converter that stalls around 3200, what stall do you recommend to get a little faster ET? I'm foot braking, no Transbrake. Hello and thanks for checking out the video!! I used an Edge converter in an AOD several years ago. I was pretty happy with it. What kind of intake and cam do you have and what gear and tire size? What are your typical 60 foot times and mph? I would generally say something closer to 4000 would be better but if the engine is built more as a torquey street engine it may be about right at 3200. I will say that I have had several converters restalled through the years and looser has generally been faster in my experience.
Mine is still working well, when I made this video I was a bit o the fence about it, but it does seem to have quite a bit more cranking power than the ford mini starter.
Good running car...12s are easily attainable. I ran a 13.38 at 108.5 on all season street radials with an extremely mild combo. Stock roller block, E303 cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 650 DP Holley, Long Tube Headers, X pipe, 1 chamber mufflers, 4.10 gears and the stock T5 and stock style clutch, bone stock untouched E7 heads. Thanks for watching!! They were made by accufab, I’m not sure if they still make headers or not. There is definitely a very specific order of operations to get them on, but they do fit good considering all of the obstructions that they have to clear.
Great build nice job!!! I just did the same project on my notch and had a simular situation on even ride height. So if you have aftermarket uppers you need to use spherical bushings on the diff and you cant have your antiroll bar connected when adjusting ride height. I fought that for weeks til i called Dave at Team Z and he walked me thru it
Two questions please?? If you decide to run 12" wheels, what backspacing will you have to have and I noticed your Mayflower tire machine.... I've been looking at them and wondered how you like it?? Your car looks awesome!! Thanks for the videos!!
