Ah, great one kev! I love oxford rail, they do great products such as this, for a great price! I think hornby owns oxford rail now so hopefully prices dont increase! Great review mate, and i was just wondering something... RailroudHobby was saying something about you and him setting up a model railway club, but I'm slightly confused with it all?! It is a great little wagon have my eye on a loco they did a few years ago to try and yes railroud mentioned about setting up a club and seems a cool idea but im a little the same as to maybe how and where unless they may be moving to the uk and looking for something need to have a proper convo to see what may be involved and if people get on boar it could be a awesome little group or maybe start something on fb will have to double check myself haha had a lot on recently and need a recap! Ah, great stuff kev! As you said, sadly I can't get down to the model shop where they are, and so I'll wait for when they maybe become readily available! Great stuff kev, and what a milestone- channel "merch" I guess you could call them! Great video as always kev, very nice vehicles once again :)

I have mentioned this before but due to a manual quite dirty day to day job as best i can i do but sometimes even the best industrial hand cleaner doesn’t always work but they are always clean and sanitised before every video is filmed😊. Thanks for watching

Great video. The Lima tooling was actually excellent for its time and available in many many liveries. But the motors were not good and very noisy Vitrains used to make a replacement chassis set specifically for Lima Class 37 You are correct as I now use the Hornby Railroad Models to do this You need to run them in well and add some weight to improve performance I think this is why you see lots of railroad bodies on sale on ebay?
Thank you for the kind words and ahhhhhh ok its concerning about the weight though as i made a lot of noise just in general thought the weight would have really effected the motor more putting more strain on it. It had been run in fully but still unsure but the ammount of bodies on ebay is great haha 1 chassis and swap the bodies out!! Thanks for watching😊

Aqesome video kev, live this wagon the weathering is lively and the detail seems very good too! The opening end is sooo cool, i think you could trim down the lever a bit so it looks a bit more realistic, i really like these rapid reviews too, theyre a great watch for a sunday afternoon!

Don't forget folks - if the Hornby TT products were not expensive enough before, the company has just officially announced massive price rises of about 10% across its entire range. You'll have to get some help from mummy and daddy to save up for these trains now! 😉😄 Is it really worth it for models which regularly have technical and performance issues? I guess we'll have to wait and see if Hornby manages to survive. 🤔🤞
Sadly true im no businessman but surely cheaper models would mean more sales loved hornby models for years and take up most of my collection would be a shame if they were to go keeping everything crossed for them. Thanks for watching😊
I've just order this model. I did not know about Scotland the Brave, but this perfect to go with Airfixs recently released Scots Gaurd's band!!! LOVE IT!
I had no idea either!!!! When i said Ive pressed that option at lease a dozen i meant it!!! Its the best sound feature Ive known on a loco its fantastic i dont care if its gimmicky i love it! its even on the tt version of the loco!!!!! I would get it just for that🤣😂 Thanks for watching😊
@@Themodelrailer Indeed this is a gimmick that probably adds zero to the cost and can be easily ignored by those who don't like it. I had one of my class 37s loaded with some star wars sounds (mostly R2D2). Great fun!

Oh wow!! There must have been something electrically wrong the smoke generator produces cold steam it doesn’t heat up like the seuth ones do definitely the tank plug not being in wouldn’t have caused this as the p2 doesn’t have a tank cover just the smoke box door to cover it up hope you can get it changed for a working one as they safe to run without water in but f24 will turn the smoke off should you wish again hope you have got it sorted now. It was working ok, until I put the water in, I was very careful not to over fill it, I put 2ml in and no smoke, the instructions said put 3ml in on first go, so I put another 1ml in ( a minuscule went down the side of the loco which I dried) and it smoked, it did 2 laps of my layout, ( without the plug in ) then I noticed smoke stopped coming out of the chimney and started coming out of the water tank hole ( without the bung in ). The loco ground to a halt, with a strong burning smell. Totally fried, “water and electricity don’t mix” no truer words said…..!
This comment intrigued me as I had recently learned about how coastal express trains used to be composed. The Atlantic Coast Express (ACE) for example would have a number of 3 carriage sections at the end of the train when it left London. Each 3 carriage section would comprise 1 brake third + 2 composites and at certain junctions these sections would be detached and hauled off by a local train to their relevant seaside terminus station. The main train terminated at Ilfracombe where the locomotive would detach, turn around on the turntable and rejoin the train at the other end where the brake third coach was.
TT scale seemed perfect for me as I've always loved this hobby but never had the space for a layout. Unfortunately I think I may have received the "Friday afternoon special", as my Easterner made a loud buzzing sound and would not even move until given about half throttle, after which it would jerk into action. I ran it in but it never got any better, and that in conjunction with the fact that the locomotive coupler was at an upward angle and would not connect to any of the included carriages sealed its fate. I'm quite saddened by this, as the detailing on the engine was beautiful, and the rolling stock and track seemed to be very high quality. Trying to decide whether I just was unlucky, or if Hornby has some sort of quality control problem.
Oh noooo im really sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with your set im sure that this is just a one off it sounds like there is a problem with the motor have you sent it back to be exchanged under warranty as it sounds like you have just been unfortunate with that set they make hundreds of sets locos etc its not the point but sometimes a bad one gets missed have had this before and they have been brilliant in getting it sorted hope you get yours sorted as you will love the set! @@Themodelrailer I got my Easterner set off Amazon, so I returned the whole set back for a credit. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should try again, but I'm concerned that if maybe there was a bad batch I'll run into the same type of issue again. All the RU-vid reviews I have seen are very positive about it though.
Well thats brilliant you were able to send it back and get a credit note i completely understand it knocking your confidence when something is new of course its expected to work straight away without any problems thats the handy thing about model shops a lot of them will let you see its working first or in my experience anyway. i wont tell you to go get another set or try again but faults do happen if the reviews you are seeing are all good its highly likely it was just a bad set. If you do try again let me know how you get on as its a amazing set either that or unless your heart was set on the easterner set you could always try a different set hope this helps😊
I've got the TT120 The Scotsman set, analogue version. The detail of the loco is amazing in this scale. I may get more to be honest as I don't mind the scale at all.
That set does look good am i right in saying i think the coaches light up in that set too! Would be really interesting to get one to see how hard it is to fit the decoders into them. Thanks for watching😊
@Themodelrailer they're in the tender but very fiddley if get shakey hands. Wish they had the connection a lot of 00 gauge tenders have and not that wire and connecter. The Pullmans in my set do indeed light up. The loco is Blink Bonny, but I do need a Flying Scotsman in TT scale haha

@Themodelrailer think it's only in the set, so more track if you do incorporate TT onto your layout. I've already have and pretend it's like the Ravenglass to Eskadale railway haha.
I started doing model railways in 1964 at the age of SEVEN!! My first train set was a Playcraft Light Freight Set with a box van and an open truck and a brake van, all hauled by a 0-4-0 diesel shunter.
That's a nice-looking set, I've seen a layout with the main part being OO, with TT in the middle distance on the hills and N right at the back. Which helps give a forced perspective , it seemed to work. Speaking of layouts, there should be an update on Dylan's 009 sometime over the weekend... Cheers James 🙂👍
Its a amazing starter set even at full rrp what you get for the price is fantastic and weeeeeel i do have a idea that could be fun with n gauge if i were to ever get one im really not sure yet but could be really fun if it happens! It sounds glorious!! I have sound chips in three of my locomotives, while the rest are silent and run on standard analog controllers. I have some lovely trains that run on my layout, controlled by an ANEMODEL LD101.
If my parents had gone for a Tri-Ang train set instead of the Playcraft set they chose for me, I might have been experienced enough with TT:120 to make it my system.
Same my first set was a 00 gauge intercity 225 and still have it now! Ooo maybe that could be a nice next video! Thanks you for helping me remember that! If you would like then you can follow how i get on with TT even if it isn’t the scale for you hopefully i can make some at least fun to watch videos about it😊
TT:120 is a very attractive size. However, I would never consider buying this system. For me, it’s got to be 00 gauge and 0 gauge. 00 is the smallest I can see to lay out the track without having to use a magnifying glass.
Thats why i love and will stick with 00 its a great manageable scale great detail you can see and work with and a lot easier to handle too completely understand why TT would still be too small but if you can manage the size being smaller it is indeed a very attractive size. It felt like my 00 was 0 gauge compared next to it 😂 Thanks for watching😊
