Pedialyte can actually be super chill depending on the flavor and if you have it slightly colder than room temperature. The orange one is not a good flavor for me though, I usually go Blue Raspberry, Grape, or one of the red ones but i dont remember if I liked the strawberry or cherry punch one🤔 I find the acid from Orange juice makes my stomach kind of upset though so i might pass BUT this is a cheaper option for SURE 👍
I have acid reflux and cant do orange juice. I'm on vacation and had the stomach flu I thought I was getting better but today I tried some soup and threw up. Its been 5 days already. Yesterday I had half a chicken sandwich and was fine . Help
Water with rock salt. Everything else he is pointing to is chemical warfare. Ginger tea and water with rock salt. Skip the Coca-Cola masquerading as an electrolyte drink. Sugar dehydrates and is hard on the system plus all the other chemicals in there. Orange juice (unless you squeeze it) is basically a Coca Cola too. Doctors don't take nutrition courses to become MDs and they have shorten lifespans overall.
Chemical warfare? 😂 yes, doctors aren’t required to know a lot about nutrition but they doesn’t mean that they didn’t study it extensively by choice and are actively doing so. As for doctors having shorter lifespans? That’s simply because they often work long hours, often into the night in the case of surgeons. Having an irregular work schedule or working when the sun isn’t up will shorten one’s life.
Also orange juice is absolutely NOT Coca Cola essentially…coke is devoid of vitamins and minerals. Orange juice? Has it, while high in sugar…of course whole fruit is always the best route
I am always one of those people who has horrendous vomiting every ten minutes and can't keep anything down, so I have to go with the pedialyte. I will keep vomiting but at least I will have energy and not pass out. It's torture for half a day.
I’m currently drinking zero sugar sprite and zero sugar propel. I’m type 2 and have to watch my sugars. They always spike when I’m sick. I feel like since drinking the propel and sprite, I feel so much better.
This worked. At first I was taking medium cups of the orange juice drink. And that for whatever reason causes me to throw up. And and then I just periodically took small sips. And I found that that worked a lot better. And I didn’t throw that up. It’s been two hours since I’ve been taking sips, and I feel significantly better, no urges to puke. I’m also slowly nibbling on graham crackers. And it’s the first food I’ve been able to keep down. Don’t force yourself to consume too much. a little bit A lot of the time is better than a lot some of the time. Good luck on your healing journey
Thank you Doctor for touching on the subject of diarrhea. That is exactly what I wanted to hear, dehydration after diarrhea. I’ve tried all those drinks. Thank you for the home remedy of orange juice and water and salt or baking soda. Will try that. Would like to know how long with rest do you feel 💯 😊
Sooooo... The easiest and tastiest solution is gatorade/powerade. You could have just said that. Nobody is mixing orange juice and water and salt like a bartender when they're throwing up. Just more pedantic dr. BS.
up all night on and off and on the can again. finally barfed this morning, felt a little better but then felt dehydrated. went and got some imodium. that seems to be doing the trick thus far, water is staying down and so is some chicken noodle. sipping on some pedialyte as well.
I had a stomach bug in the form of a fever and diarrhea all day today and feeling the vomit coming and kept suppressing it. Then I crushed up three cloves of garlic at the end of the day, chewed and swallowed them. In less than three minutes I felt the vomit coming and it sprayed like a firehouse LOL! After I vommitted no more fever, body ache or belly pain. My strength is back.
I am dealing with a stomach bug or something today. I did finally buy some generic Pedialyte. He is right it does not taste good, but you do feel better sooner. I'll take the bad taste for the relief.
I'll have to try this for nausea. When I had the stomach bug last month, I took zofran, anti nausea and that stuff is magic. I was definitely less miserable.
Why is an MD giving nutrition advice? Nutrition is less than one hour of the entire medical curriculum. Gatorade is one of the worst things you can consume.
Thank you very much! I got food poisoning cause by Bacillus cereus. I had the brilliant lazy idea of eating the roomtemp leftover pasta from the previous night instead of making fresh ones. I will never, ever neglect food safety from now on.
