This would have been more emotional if they done this at the old White Star Line dock site in New York. As a tribute call to say "we have finally arrived"
They need to grow a pair of balls and pipe in a 2inch pipe of compressed steam for the full sound instead of this weak compressed air b.s. since it can handle the stresses.
It is beautiful to see everyone commenting about the Titanic like she's not just a ship, an object, but a person. At the time, she symbolized human supremacy. Humans are capable of everything. If they are not capable of doing something today, they will be able to in the future. Humans created a Queen of the ocean. She was such a beautiful ship. She still is today on her seabed. She had a huge impact when she sank and revolutionized the world of navigation by installing better rules and precautions. Her death was not in vain. She's still so important today. It is beautiful to see people still remembering her and being interested in her. She symbolizes dreams, hopes, ambitions but also death, ice, pain and suffering. Life. To hear her whistles again symbolizes rebirth.
Thanks for posting this. It is remarkable that her voice can still be heard. I remember reading about how when the whistles were recovered, the middle one sparkled in the sunlight like it was waiting to be found so that it could do what it was designed to do once more. There are many perspectives on whether this occasion should have been joyous or solemn. I can only say that I know of one family who lost a relative on that ship and they felt joyous. They weren’t there, obviously, to observe the send off of the maiden voyage, but letters indicate that there was such excitement surrounding it that this moment in MN felt that it must have been similar. She was a beautiful ship, magnificent to look upon, if her voice can still be heard after all this time, then her spirit remains unsinkable.
Sounds haunting. I wonder, if they sound different with air instead of steam? I read they used high pressured air here, but Titanic used steam, although it was steam that ran through a dryer to remove moisture so it would rain hot drops of water on the passengers or damage the horns by exposing them to the water...although lol doesn't seem like water bothered them at all.
just found this in 2023... holy shit the goosebumps and teary eyes it's an honour to hear titanics voice again after 111 years and to think that people heard this on the night of the sinking is haunting like a scream for help but no one came in time..
