Hey Y'all! My name is Zowie (like Zoey except cooler)
I am a former zoo educator and Naturalist, small business owner (check out Her-petology on etsy!), Reptile educator, and reptile mom, who loves promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle to help aid in the conservation of our species!
one thing I dont really understand is that iguanas will eat my tomato plants new leaves aren't nightshades toxic to them? Also they don't seem to eat old leaves of any plant like any trees typically they also will only eat mangos that have dropped from trees never physically still on the tree
@@zareptiles my crested gecko was really scared of the fireworks last night ..I had windows shut n shades down .but still was scared ..would putting Styrofoam round outside of her enclosure work to block out noise ? as a sound barrier ?
@zareptiles lol I realized after the fact you were busy with your turtles, but glad all is well. Still looking forward to seeing how that basement is going! ❤️
Looks good! I would add some sort of cave hide or two tho, like cut plastic box or half a flower pot. My tort likes to take naps after eating and having hides ready also prevents digging.
Thanks for the suggestion! It’s def on my to do list still! I had an idea, but the store didn’t have what I needed, so I had to pivot and think up a new idea lol!
I’m a new iguana dad and have been seriously considering a grow tent for our eventual adult enclosure; thank you so much for the advice! It’ll definitely take some work and while we can afford a more traditional enclosure, i’m excited to see whether this will be a good long-term solution ^^ Love your vids!
Hi I am your subscriber. Hope you are doing well. I am from india and I am going to get a new ball python, I am a little confused about the temperature. Here in india the room temperature is somewhere around 30 to 35 degrees celcius which is 90 degrees Fahrenheit do we need to have a heating elememt such as a heat pad, ceramic heater or a heating bulb . Or is it fine to leave it in the enclosure without any heating element ? Need your suggestions here mate . Hoping for the response.
You shouldn’t need so much humidity given the fact that it’s not that humid in her natural environment.. east Africa is extremely arid - great setup though ..
Young torts actually need higher humidity to assist with proper shell growth! Even in their natural environment their are pockets of high humidity for them
Could you make a video on tank set ups for morphed axolotls? We have an axolotl that is currently morphing and I’m completely lost on how to set up a proper home for it.
Informative, sad people don’t give the best care😩 I wish people researched pets before getting them, and be prepared to give them the best care for their life.
Idk if anyone's looking, but my 2 are in 18x18x18 Trixie brand. It's perfect size, and def cheapest I found. Mine are babies, and I can tell they're exploring at night and climb on the objects I put in. ❤
@zareptiles I get them on Chewy, the quality is really great and just as good if not better than the big name brands. Other brands are 199.00 for that same size.
@@zareptiles I know a woman who kept two Sand boas together for four years, came home from work one day and one was eating the other one so be careful if you’re keeping them together.
@@maremuse I don’t think anyone here is keeping them together! Cohabitation is risky business if done incorrectly! I think you may have mistaken this comment for cohabbing! I believe she just meant that both of her boas are in this brand enclosure, not that they are in one together! :)
I had to put in an 80-watt RHP for my 1st BP, and it's actually heating up the entire room where I keep all my snakes. Im actually very happy it is because I will worry less come winter! My old house is very cold in the Midwest, and it's usually lower than 70 degrees yr round. I was thinking they'd all need a heat panel, but they're gradients are already benefitting from having 1 large panel in the room. Wanted to pass it on, as I can't be the only one with that issue. ❤
You really should, especially if you are planning on keeping a species that needs high humidity! I didn’t because these were meant to be used as displays for my traveling education business, so they very temporarily housed my ball pythons
Looks alot easier than your zen habitat build ( i think it was zen.) I was going to get zen but after pricing.. toxirium 48x24x24 enclosures, the 2 tank setup with the 2/1 cabinet in the middle AND adding wheels is $20 cheaper than virtually the same setup with Zen and no wheels.... when Zen is 20% off and excluding shipping on Zen. I think im going to go with Toxirium now
I'm glad you listened to your instinct, from my own life experiences watching loved ones and friends I wish they had too. Renting isn't always a good idea, owners at times want more and more to the point ppl end up filing bankruptcy. I'm just saying, its happened to so many. I think you'll be successful, you've got a good head on your shoulder's and are focused! I wish you all the best, and will continue to ❤ looking forward to seeing your basement too, so much potential!
Thank you so much for all the kind words! Luckily this woman was older and looking to get out of renting, so she was even talking about selling me the business in a couple years (my lease would have been a 2 year lease). I think that’s when I started second guessing because I knew I had big plans for the future that would require more space and I didn’t want the expectation to be that I would buy it from her down the line. Now I’m starting to think that if I can get my finances in check maybe someday I could build the facility that I’m envisioning 🤩 Baby steps though lol!
@@zareptiles great head on your shoulders! I wish we had a place here like you're planning, I'm just glad Wisconsin pretty much allows me to own any reptile. But a business like what you're planning would be awesome, as it is we don't have many places to even buy them from. And everything I've learned, has been on RU-vid from ppl such as yourself. Which I'm very grateful for! Wish I could help paint lol I love doing that! Can't wait to see what you do there ❤️
@@Kellz58 thank you so much! I live in a rural area without any zoos or family fun areas like this around so it’s definitely a need in our community! Thank you! Im not looking forward to painting but im looking forward to having it done!
@zareptiles ahh me too, I'm in southern part state on a tiny town. I have to get supplies shipped too for my babies. I am terrible at rolling, but trimming is my thing lol. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, ty ty so much
