About me: In 2018 after working in the USA for 20 years, I decided to take a sabbatical year, 8 months later I decided to go ahead and retire, sold my house and belongings and completed my move to the Philippines.

My channel started out as a documentary of my thoughts and travels for myself, friends and family, I have started to expand my channel as I see many people need for advice on different subjects. If you need consultation then don't hesitate to contact me to set up a consultation, its currently 35 usd/hr. To set an appointment go to About and get my email address, from there send me a short email and we can set up a time that works for both of us.

Never stop hearing about how great the mangoes are in Philippines. Along with a short list of a few others, coconut, banana, lansone, they are comparable but not better, and the rest are worse most of them far worse

Do you like big cities over smaller cities? If you like smaller ones, give Penang, Malaka, and JB a try. It's very easy to bus between the cities. Each one has its own charm. Kl is the most expensive. All cities have a bus terminal. Book tickets online (I use redbus). You can guarantee your time and seating.

Hai guys...!!! Welcome to Malaysia...!!! Malaysian will always welcome good people like you to visit or even stay here if you like... Just try to mix around with the locals... We are in mostly English speaking community so there should be no problem to communicate in English.... But some of the workers comes from various country like Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal etc... they might not well versed like the locals... But some can understand English well through experience....

After visiting Peninsular Malaysia numerous times over the last 15 years, I now tend to venture away from KL and Penang. During the last trip in December, it was decided to drive back up to the Cameron Highlands for a re-visit, which was nice, but then while exploring another mountain range, our first experience at Fraser's Hill was highly memorable. Stunning place! Having been to Brunei several years ago, I'm yet to hire a car in East Malaysia and explore that part of Borneo.

If you want to live long term in Kuala Lumpur. It is much easier on the pocket and quieter in the suburbs such as Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Damansara areas. They're all connected by the train system such as the LRT or MRT public transportation, in some ways.😊

Be sure and visit KLCC park and see water exhibit in evening. Also, China town is a must see. We were there in July of 2023, great clean city, but for us it didn't really have a Southeast Asia vibe to it and airport is long way from city center. Pluses, it has about everything in stores as in west, great service, clean food fresh food, feels safe. Enjoy your adventures.

KLCC park is just another tourist trap.. why do people walk around in a small area and say this is KL.. do you think this conurbation of 9 million people has only one park.. you need to go around before making comment..
@ardentblue7493

should visit the traditional village neighborhood in Kampung Baru, so that you can experience the "south east asian vibe".. also try visiting the craft complex in Jalan Conlay and Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman which located nearby. There is also a free cultural show taking place in Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC) in Jalan Ampang on certain days of every week.

My Filipina fiancé and I spent a week in KL earlier this year (in the Bukit Bintang area), a wonderful city and experience. We hope to return in 2025, we love it there. You are correct about the difference of being there in vacation mode vs living, the social element is different compared to the Philippines. At least in KL lots of people speak good/excellent English so figuring things out was easy - cultivating acquaintances and friendships will come as more time is spent there. As a place to live, we would consider KL an option because we enjoy city life and all the conveniences it offers. The cost of living there is very similar to Manila or Cebu, but in terms of a value proposition, KL has a lot to offer in terms of quality living.

Kuala Lumpur is an awesome city. Earlier this year, I stayed right near where you were walking at the beginning of the video, at the Crown Suites Tropicana, the Residences. There's an excellent Iraqi restaurant around the corner, called Samad Al Iraqi, you might try if you are still in KL. Not cheap by KL standards, but it was excellent.

Hi Paul. I suspect besides being a little bored, you chose to grind it out a little more to give yourself more of a financial cushion. Smart move. IMO, in these crazy times (and it is crazy right now) nothing lowers the stress level more than knowing your financial condition is reasonably stable and flush. Looking forward to more vlogs...smiles!
