For me, the wearing of short skirts put women as objects. The women in the original series could never grow because of the skirts. I like Gene R. trying to move women as equal partners in the 23rd century.
It seems that Clint turned out to be a pretty decent guy. His brother Ron however, turned out to be a woke nightmare straight from hell. Watching Ron Howard on the Andy Griffith show, and even American Graffiti and Happy Days, it's hard to imagine how evil he would turn out to be.
I enjoyed watching this episode. I understood Charlie's frustration for failing to befriend a woman he wanted because I had experienced this situation. I never had love with a woman until I was 39 years old.😣 Teenage boy Charlie is an Incel. He had been alone on the planet for many years and cared for by the guardian. He gave him power. Once aboard the Enterprises, he was not accustomed to the social environment, especially women. Charlie tried hard to befriend the woman he wanted. He got upset after the woman rejected him. That led to the destruction of everything. He felt frustrated, and a guardian finally took him away. I see today's American women are horrid, bitch, and domineering. Several of them are gold diggers seeking men for money, power, and fame. Misandty propagandistic mainstream media and WOKE Hollywood media industries influenced and brainwashed women to dominate men and loathe men. These situations alienate and isolate many good men with growing numbers of Incels. That explains the one reason why family values eroded nowadays. Holy Incel power, Batman! 😱
Hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since the Sci-Fi Channel did this special edition of the original series. Happy Star Trek Day and live long and prosper 🖖.
“She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge. . . she studied sculpture at St. Martin’s College, that’s where I. . . caught her eye. . .” - William Shatner
I watched and taped theses episodes as they aired as well. Time snd circumstances (as well as no more VHS's) intervened so Im glad someone else has kept these "historical records" for posterity. (Best Galaxy Quest alien laugh!) 🤓😎🖖🏻
The account of Jeffrey Hunter leaving is practically legendary now, but I've heard it confirmed by multiple sources. After doing the pilot Hunter scored several big screen roles. When they wanted to shoot a second pilot Hunter's agent called him. His wife answered and famously told his agent that, 'Jeffrey does not do television acting anymore'.
I do own the entire TOS which I purchased a few years ago. I have never seen anything like what you are asking for in the collection. But then, I have the DVD collection. It's remotely possible in the Blue Ray collection, if it in fact exists.
It is interesting to hear what the network execs thought of a female second in command, not surprisingly the character got cut. Fast forward to TNG and Commander Shelby. Just this week, Elizabeth Denehy who played Shelby said back in the 90s, some fans resented her and treated her with disdain... who does she think she is? Now 30 years later, she said that is no longer a problem. I think Majel would be happy to hear that!
An interesting irony is that mankind, invasive and stumbling blindly onto other planets, is in fact the 'Devil in the Dark'. The Horta called the miners 'devils' during Spock's mind meld...which is where the ironic dagger of the mind starts twisting. All of which begs the question... Is mankind somehow destroying innocent lives even as we speak? Is our medical prime directive to 'above all, do no harm' being ignored in our zeal for materialistic gain? Here's an ironic fact... Every year, 50 million human babies are aborted around the world. ("Minors, not miners!" - Dr. Lazarus) The reasons vary...but the result is the same: the equivalent of eight and one half Nazi holocausts performed annually like clockwork. The devil in the dark... Darkened minds...unenlightened...and languishing beyond redemption.
The obvious blooper where Kirk enters the turbolift wearing his yellow shirt and walks out of it wearing his green shirt isn't mentioned, but the stupidest blooper in all of Star Trek where you can barely see Charlie's reflection is mentioned and it was fixed in the remastered version.
