As a Chipotle worker I just want to thank you for not invading us by shoving a camera in our face it changes nothing just depends on the person you get and if a high official is around double looking over your portions
I wonder what's the difference between American malls and European malls. As far as I can tell, malls in my part of Europe are still bursting with life
I actually was able to find this video through the search function. Although there was literally only this video and another one. The rest were completely unrelated stuff
I watch one video about politics then suddenly RU-vid acts like all I care about is politics. With adhd I just end up watch nothing but political bs and get stressed out. I like a variety of stuff and I feel like I’ve been in a select few different echo chambers for years. Am I misremembering or was the original algorithm from OG RU-vid the best? I miss ending up in the “weird section” of RU-vid
Your results aren't that relevant when you make weird orders. If you're getting two beans then sometimes they'll be doing half and half and sometimes two full portions
Basically we used to have "town squares". When euclidian zoning gained popularity, we lost a lot of downtowns and town squares. Malls were the way to takeover the need for a business district. Then when online retailers like Amazon came around, people stopped shopping in person. At first, smaller stores closed. This didnt have a huge impact on businesse, but soon larger retailers started losing business and closed down. This meant that the landlords of the malls either ate the lost business or raised everyone else's rent. Obviously they did the right thing and- lol gotcha. They raised rents. This meant that the largest stores that were already making significantly fewer sales, also had to pay more rent. I was friends with an owner of a mid-sized store. He said that ome year they doubled the rent. Then the next year they doubled it again. When time came to renew his lease again, it was doubled so he didnt sign it and left. Basically, amazon is our new mall. And to fill the void of auntie Ann's? Doordash and uber eats. The socialization aspect? Social media. The lives of the average person over the last year went from organic socialization from doing daily tasks to semi-organic socialization during planned outings. And now, we have to specifically plan a social time because so many of our needs are met by delivery and the Internet. A lot of people dont even have to leave the house to work anymore. The internet has changed every aspect of so mamy of our lives. Some changes are good. Some not so much. Just my personal view/opinion.
I’m a bass fisherman and I get the same feeling on the lake. Either when it’s super super early in the morning and there’s no one on the lake or during the early spring and late fall when there is no one else on the lake. It feels like I’m doing something wrong when I’m doing what I always do just at a different time
The osrs background music from time to time is fun to hear lol, currently on a fast, so thanks for this 30 day endeavor. Very entertaining and also interesting to learn
I am one of the biggest Chipotle stans. Everyone in my circle no matter where I go knows how much I LOVE chipotle. I can go on tirades defending it. Constantly calling it the perfect trifecta of quality, quantity, and price. Meaning, if you find another place with better quality, its more expensive. Like an actual dine in restuarant. If you find a place with more quantity, its either really crappy low quality food, or its great food like all you can eat korean BBQ, but way more expensive. And if you find a place with better price, than the quality or quantity, (usually both) is worse. Some simple tips to control quantity and avoid small portions. Dont order online. Its too easy for them to short change you when you are not standing there watching them or able to ask for more food. Dont order a burrito as you will always get less food than a bowl. If you want a burrito, order a bowl with the tortilla on the side. You will be able to put half the bowl into the burrito, and still have a good sized burrito, while still having half a bowl left to eat. The only time I really feel them skimp consistently is the rice. But guess what? Rice is free to ask for more. Dont feel bad about. Dont make it awkward. Just ask for more rice until you are happy with the amount of rice. Beans are always portioned fine for me. Fajitas are hit or miss, but again, if you want a bit more just ask, its free. I honestly never had an issue with meat portioning in a while. I suggest doing chicken because its the cheapest one. And I think they are fair with the portion. They normally grab a spoonful, and then like a tiny second spoon with a couple pieces to top it off. I very rarely have to say, "hey can you put a bit more chicken on there". Skip the queso and guac, and dont do double meat. (Cant complain about thier prices if you're actively adding things that cost more money) Ive never had an issue with the portioning on the mild or medium salsa, or sour cream. Sometimes the cheese is a bit light, and if it is, I simple ask for a bit more. And thats it. Thats my order. It comes out to $9.35 for a very filling, and very full chicken bowl. In this day and age that is a fantastic price for the amount of food and the quality. I grab a water cup, and chipotle flavored tabasco sauce and Im set. And Im a big guy, 270lbs, and it fills me up. To get a full meal for under $10 in 2024 if fantastic. All the fast food combo meals are $9 - $11 these days. I eat asian food a lot. Like vietnamese, chinese, thai, etc. A standard dish there is $12 - $17. I like subs, like jersey mikes and firehouse. Those cost between $12 - $18. A NY style pizza costs about $17 on average. A mexican dish out here is $11 - $14. And then everything cheaper than $10 is like shitty unhealthy fast food. Like a $5 biggie bag at wendys. Or a buy 1 get one for $1 sandwiches from Mcdonalds. So again, to get cheaper than Chipotle, I have to decrease the quality of the food to lower quality small burgers and fries and nuggets. Which can be tasty, and I do eat those as well to change it up. but those foods are unhealthy. Or, the other way to get cheaper than chipotle but still good quality is way smaller quantity. And I have a couple examples of places that are higher quality than chipotle, like sushi, all you can eat korean BBQ, a high quality thai or vietnamese dish, hand pulled chinese noodles, etc. But they are all more expensive than chipotle. So, even now, in this day and age, I can still confidently say, that Chipotle is the perfect trifecta of food. And, imo, it still tastes great. The meat is cooked right in front you, and the workers season it themselves. There is no freezer, so nothing is ever frozen, everything is fresh. Cheese comes in blocks, and they manually shred, so its fresh, they cut the peppers and onions themselves, so again fresh. (source, I actually worked at chipotle for two years when i was like 20 - 22'ish.) So in conclusion, Chipotle is still the goat and I still eat there 2-3 a week. I get a very filling and tasy chicken bowl for $9.35. Cant beat that.
Honestly. MASSIVE sheetz L for not accepting the partnership. Considering the fact that I had no idea what tf sheetz was I think this was a HUGE PR mistake form corporate. Now this video sits at over 2 millions views and I honestly hate businesses that think they know fucking everything. Now I will be sure to steer as far away from them as possible because that company is an L
Did you go to the same chipotle that knew you were doing the portions experiment the majority of the time? They have a lot of the same workers and news spreads. That may be the reason for the large portions.
I think Contrapoints put it really nicely: The dying malls are, essentially, a new gothic aesthetic. In a dead mall, you get a comparable feeling you get in an abbey or an abandoned mansion. As you, yourself said, an empty stadium. But instead of an Abbey where people were going for their spiritual aspirations, or a mansion that people of wildly different social classes lived in, but the upper class that of this mansion has become irrelevant. A dead mall can mean different things, like, material longings, dreams of success, happy moments with loved ones. Maybe it's so confusing because, that downfall is happening really quick and right before our eyes and many of the aspirations in our culture still remains intact. So the dead mall evokes those feelings but we're not entirely sure why but it is very similar to a building with an old gothic aesthetic.
This feels like an intentional reframing that misses the point. The problem isn’t a “lack of consistency”. The problem is that they charge too much for the tiny amount of meat they often give.
I think the BIGGEST reason is actually the rise in GUN violence. I remember so many reports of the malls being on lockdown due mass shootings, same with movie theaters. It’s a lot easier to escape and contain one store vs a whole mall/hallway of stores.
