The second "store" to the right from the corner store when you first walk in is where I bought my ,Orion refractive telescope, years ago.

Once the anchor stores close down, there goes the mall. I worked at Sears from 1999-2012. RIP Crestwood Plaza/Court!!!!!!!

i enjoyed this mall and have great memories through the 80s and 90s but i loved southcounty mall the best,,,,,i remember the first time i went into southcounty mall,,it was a friday night and i could not believe how many people were in there in the early 80s,,its hard to believe how crestwood has gone under in such a short time after being the number one mall in stlouis,,growing up in stlouis city i never knew these malls existed,,yes i lived a sheltered life without my parents owning a car,,,the time for malls are apparently over but memories are forever,,,,southcounty mall is next unfortunately,,its a ghost town,,,,thx for posting

I remember going there with my parents when I was real young. I was born in 1996 and grew up through the 2000s. I don't remember a whole lot of the stores that were there but I do remember some. I remember the movie theater where I had seen a couple movies maybe, the arcade, the food court, and I remember the carousel ride that was outside of the Dillards entrance from inside the building if I'm not mistaken I remember riding on that too. Now these days with the whole building being completely gone whenever I'm in the car with my mom and we drive past crestwood mall it surprises me how much had been torn down. I miss that old mall I had some good memories there. R.I.P crestwood mall.

You, sir, just made me feel nostalgic. The NES was the first gaming console I had, exempting the Commodore 64 my dad had for several years. I also loved the way you ended it in a Christmas Story fashion :-D

Lol I can totally relate to that story even though I'm a little bit older then you. I was born in 73 so the big system I wanted as a kid was the Atari 2600, we got one for Christmas 1980 and of course I was ecstatic. I played the crap out of it for years, still have it to this day and it works like a champ. When there was the video game crash of 83 I still played the Atari but ended up moving on a little bit to computer games. Those early King's Quest games hooked me yet again to gaming. I wanted a NES for Christmas 86 but instead got my own TV for my room so I wasn't too upset but finally got one with Metroid for Christmas 87. I played Metroid for 15 hours straight and I have made it a tradition that always around Christmas time I break out Metroid and beat it simply for the nostalgia. When I finally got Legend of Zelda, which was probably around May of 88, I was so blown away by how incredible the NES games were I remember telling myself that I wanted to just keep on playing video games until the day I die. Up to that point I had 3 passions in life, Star Wars toys in the 70's to early 80's, Transformers toys 84-88 and video games. I ended up selling my entire collection of Star Wars toys and Transformers toys about 10 years ago but never wanted to part with my video game collection. Final Fantasy & the Dragon Warrior games hooked me on RPG's and those have become my favorite over the years. Got a SNES for Christmas 91 and once I got Final Fantasy II (4) it has become my all time favorite game, 3 of my saves on the cart have all my characters maxed out at level 99. I still play my games today, although it is no where near the amount of time I put in as a kid, but I find that if I can mix in some good game time today it keeps me more up beat and happier with the daily grind that life can throw at you. If I had to pick my favorite Christmas it would be 87 when I got my NES, such a special time that was to me. Thanks for your video, it made me think back to my similar time period.

+BlueRigel81 This ones finished. They are going to start demolishing it soon. The County decided to use Tax money to redevelop the site where it stands. They have already started moving in heavy equipment to start tearing it down.

I have SO many memories here as well. I grew up in STL and this was THE mall in STL until the galleria got built up and south county got renovated. West County's rebuild was the ultimate dagger..

aw, of all the Crestwood Plaza videos, I like yours best...thank you for sharing your memories and stories. It's just incredibly sad seeing it like this..so lifeless. I spent most of my shopping days at this mall through the 80's and early 90's before I left St. Louis. I even worked at a Southwestern Bell Telephone office right there above where the Orange Julius was by Dillards....I'm guessing that's gone now too. I hope something good goes back in that area It must be awful for residents around there to have such an empty large hole in the town.
