You don’t need to have VAT number to pay for this. VAT number is only needed when you need to charge VAT to your customer as retailer. You can find out rates here. www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty **Sales VAT as consumer or Buyer** When you buy stock in bulk or buy things like chocolate bar from local super market in UK or a service, You pay VAT as consumer/buyer To Retailer / wholeSeller who have crossed the VAT threshold and registered for VAT and charge VAT to their customers as required by HMRC, they must provide you VAT invoice with VAT number written on it.
