Isn’t there a clean copy of Gordon Walker Playing this anywhere? ( like for sale?) I love this version, but it is distracting that the sound quality is compromised.
Pity about the sound distortion. The volume was too much for the microphone of the camera used. I still like Angus McColl but my new favourite is definitely Gordon Walker.
lomax343 they play in a micro key. Between B and B Flat. It's a pain when your learning the pipes and your own school doesn't support them because they don't know a thing about them. Even the so called "Scottish Music Teacher" in my school doesn't even know how to make the pipes work with other instruments. I find it kind of unbelievable that a Scottish school is more prepared to teach someone the ukulele instead of Their countries national instrument.
@ODoda It's a Border pipe - sounds a bit like a GHB but less loud. the chanter reed can last for years and years because it's not mouthblown - which means that it can be scraped so that you can cross-finger a fully chromatic scale plus B and somtimes C above high A. It can be a finicky beast though.... The Border pipe has probably been around at least as long,as(maybe longer) than the GHB and has its own idiom.
What i it about the pipes that make me want to bodylam my wife and punch my dog in the face??? I get so fucking fired up from this shit! It must be in my blood...
It's the reel/hornpipe version of Fiddler's Rally... since he wrote the jig I assume he wrote that arrangement of it as well. It is somewhat reminiscent of TJN though.
