ELO's time is a Rock Opera, too. Yet it seems that there is going to no Broadway play or movie. Yet Time is mostly for the ears. The few videos help to tell the story. Maybe one day Jeff Lynne will allow Time to be competed. For me, the time transporter may have sent Julie to the future. Maybe the dream is focus on he the MC finding a woman like Julie.
Interesting video, but the intro to Hold On Tight ("Time Transporter") on Flashback actually starts as a tag to "Getting To The Point" which is the track before.
the narrator of this song expresses complex emotions, being grief stricken and betrayed by a former lover who left him, and the fury in his emotions suggests he might murder his once beloved, "if the lord don't get her i will", this part suggests this i think, or the way i interpret it.
Talking about inspiration...Well my Beatles could have been sitting in their homes playing with their balls if it wasn't for the following ones... Three great influences that shaped The Beatles' music include Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and The one and only King, Elvis Presley. While all three of these musicians impacted The Beatles strongly, Elvis' style, sound, and all-around charisma left a lasting impression on all four of the young, eager members. The Beatles were also influenced by Cliff Richard and The Shadows, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, Ravi Shankar and Eric Clapton. 13 Beatles Hits That 'Rip Off' Other Songs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BSkHRigtkrk.html
Time is my favorite album ever made. Its the reason i discovered ELO and Jeff Lynne. I bought it after hearing only 2 songs from it, absolutely loved it, then went on to buy album after album of ELO, totally blind. And now ELO is among my top 3 bands of all time!
The algorithm just introduced me to your channel... I think I'm about to watch all your videos lol. This was really well done and I love videogames music so you got me hooked!
I often find myself recreating the sound effects from this particular game a lot and it may be due to its music-alike nature that I‘ve not really even considered until this video. This was interesting and now I understand why I keep making the noises 😅
Great video! I love the style! I feel like the only thing I have to say about it is that the silent start did confuse me a little haha, crazy how much music helps ease you into a video
thank you for watching!! feedback noted, I appreciate this. I liked the idea of having the music kick in after the first sentence - but I will absolutely keep this in mind for future videos!
great watch! I never realIzed just how musical the sounds of mario world are, it's hard to separate the sound from the context of "oh, that's the mario world x sound" hahaha
thank you!! yeah, they’re such iconic sounds that you don’t really think about them. it was only when I learned that trivia about the yoshi voice that I noticed it throughout the whole game!
very well made video and perhaps more impressive than that the content of the video isnt just a repackaging of things that've been said 1000 times. which is tough to do when making videos on subjects like the music and sound fx of a mainline mario game. great work. if you stick with it and the algorithm on this site is functional at all you should have a ton of subs in no time. best of luck.
this feedback really means a lot to me, thank you! it feels like a balancing act selecting a topic that is simultaneously interesting to other people, something that hasn’t already been talked about, and that I feel present in an interesting way - and it’s hard to know if I’ve succeeded. so this is great to hear!
thank you for watching! the Koji Kondo interview snippet is a translation from shmuplations.com/. there are tons of fantastic translations here so if you're interested in this kind of thing, definitely check it out.
Some of these lyrics seem a bit Beatles-y, mentioning submarines and plastic flowers. Is Jeff Lynne also looking back to his younger days too, at this point, considering his ELO career, and band that he predominantly drove, song-wrote, and produced, and the acknowledging the Beatles influence on his writing and the ELO sound?
Jeff was never a Beatles copycat. What he did was to bottle the essence of the Beatles as inspiration to his own music. Hence little bits of ELO sound like the Fab Four, but not quite.
Hi there! I met Brendan Higgs a couple of times through a friend. He came to my wedding in 1996 and gave me as a wedding gift 2 tapes containing 2 unreleased songs, knowing I was a huge ELO fan. One of the tapes contained Sad Affair. It definitely sounds like a track from the Time sessions. It might have been me that posted the lyrics on that website. I was searching for another copy of the song because sadly, I had let someone borrow the tape to dub it back in the late 90s and it was lost. I was (and am) a member of the Showdown ELO fan club and I think that’s where I posted the lyrics that I remembered. I still remember Joe the song goes, too. But it exists only in my head until I can get another copy. It’s not that great of a song, to be honest. Jeff made the right call to leave it off the album. If you’d like to know the melody and how it goes, contact me and we can set something up.
Don't Stop Me Now by Queen is also a fairly happy song I would say. But this is by far (in my opinion) the happiest, most cheerful song I've ever heard.
