I have the same exact problem when people ask me what music I listen to ^^ I am glad RU-vid recommended this video to me, it was reeally interesting! And I was surprised to see how small your Channel is, keep up the good work :)
worth mentioning that type of music changes how much these stats "matter" or how theyre organized. for example, Come and Get Your Love is in one or two keys the entire song, but key information matters much less in other songs, consider frank sinatra - Have You Met Ms Jones, pretty popular "american songbook" tune but reflects more of a journey through keys than a single tonality
edit: i got it to work by copying the playlist into a shareable one, but I'll leave this comment here in case anyone else has questions :) Hi, I got everything set up and just need help with the last step. After executing the .py file, it asks: "Connecting to Spotify... Paste the URL of your playlist:" What URL is this referring to? I tried simply navigating to the "your liked songs" on spotify web and copying the URL, as well as the localhost one. It also didn't open an external window like was said on github. (please excuse if I made a dumb mistake, I'm fairly new to programming) (also this is a very interesting project so thank you for publishing it and inspiring others)
great to hear you’ve got this set up and working! sorry if any of the steps on github aren’t clear or if things are working differently on other machines. Thanks for watching and for trying it out! :)
so, once you create the app using the guide on Spotify’s documentation, if you go into its settings, you should be able to see a “Client ID” and “Client Secret”. You can paste these into lines 24 and 25 respectively. as for the redirect URI, you can just copy the localhost value commented on line 26 if you like. then, if you run the script, it should hopefully first ask you for permissions, then for a link to your playlist - and then do its job! let me know if you have any further questions :)
you’ll have to make sure you’ve installed Python first. from there, you should be able to (if you’re using Windows) open the command prompt, and run the command “python” followed by the full path to the 7deadlysongs.py file!
it doesn’t, although that would be a good stat to incorporate! As far as I’m aware, you can’t access number of times listened with the Spotify API (but it seems to be a highly requested feature). I believe you can do using the last fm API. thank you for watching :)
I had initially found this channel through the Evergreens EP, and I must say, your content is as quality as the music, which is to say, exceedingly so! You have a pleasing visual style and good editing, and along with that, interesting subject matters about music, like the one here, which I happen to ask others about a lot myself. In short: Well done!
I know nothing of coding but I love htis idea, does anyone know if I can do this on a standard chromebook (yk cause its run on google I don't have acces to python and such) and give me some instructions, great video btw
