Thank you so much. I never even touched a sewing machine. However, I got into camping and found myself longing for one. I have watched numerous videos, and this is the one I have been searching for. The perfect step by step how to.
Mistake #1 is going to your local fabric store in a small or medium sized town and buying pretty QUILTING fabric to sew a garment with. It is almost impossible to buy garment fabric locally if you don’t live in a large city. Quilting fabric might do for a little girl’s sundress, but for an adult, it is going to look frumpy and be fraying at the seams after the first wash. (Oh, and #2 is not pre-washing your fabric)
Biggest mistake i made was not making sure my directional fabric was facing the correct direction before cutting... my daughter almoste ended up with a bucket hat that had an upside down beach scene on it.😊
thank you sooo much!!!! i recently have been doing these mistakes cuz i am still a beginner but after watching this i knew that the things i have been doing are wrong and some things i dont even know about {like the numbers on the needles}
thank you, but I would have hoped you would describe the three setting wheels on most machines like the ones on your thumbnail. The computerized machine threw me kinda off.
I am really struggling here. There is no measuring being done, no instructions on where the princess seam for the side fronts is to begin, how to cut those pieces properly, adding seam allowance. I simply don't see how a beginner could understand the process.
I just watched this and I was wondering if you would revisit this but show us how you would make this kind of babydoll dress? I’m going to see Melanie Martinez later this year and I want to make something to wear to see her. But I’ve never done any sewing on a sewing machine and I have certainly never made a dress. I would love to make something similar to this. I love this tutorial and if I can find a cheap sewing machine this will be the first project I make !
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! As a new sewer I was advised to get a dress form, easily done, but…I am a big girl and had no idea how to make the form work for me, until I found your video. Now I have an eerily accurate form that I can use for my sewing adventures and….perhaps use it as motivation to loose a few pounds. ❤❤❤😊
If you’re getting taped, if at all possible; DO NOT HELP. Remain in the same position. Always pull off strips of tape, do not pull with the roll. Gauze at the throat is a gentle and nice option to plastic. ❤
I have a question for anyone who may be able to answer. Iv'e been trying to sew for a while now but an issue i run into is when pulling my fabric away from the machine to cut the string it gets stuck. I end up having to pull pretty hard which ends up breaking my string especially the bottom one. Not sure why but the bottom tring is always getting stuck somehow. How do I prevent this? Also sometimes in the middle of sewing the string will pop right off the needle. Nothing I try works. Any tips?
