Full process of the making of my Clawdeen Wolf cosplay from Monster High. I go more into detail on how I sewed the bodice, the jacket, the skirt, the boots, and how I made her accessories. I made this cosplay almost a year ago and learned so much since then but hope you can learn from my experience and it helps you out with your future projects! #monsterhigh #cosplayer #diycrafts

I love your cosplays, this was so cute not to mention the baaawwwwdyy. I don't sew, but these videos always make me feel slightly more confident that designing cosplays isn't as intimidating as it feels

Clawdeen Wolf is my favorite character from Monster High. I'm definitely gonna try this for myself for Halloween 😍

This is a little add-on to your tidbit about plastic wrap! Try the stretch-and-seal type of plastic wrap, it works a lot better than the standard stuff! It's easier to manage and more self-adherent (but not in the way that regular plastic wrap sticks to itself) so you can cut little pieces to patch empty spots without adding layers and layers of plastic wrap to ensure complete coverage. Adam Savage's Tested channel has a video on building a mannequin and the part about plastic wrap comes up at 13:32.

This is so cute! I googled a pic of the character and kept looking back and forth at it as you did each detail, you nailed each and every one! Does anyone know about that zipper method though? I hate dealing with zippers and that looked so easy, if anyone knows the name of it or has a page with a better explanation that would be awesome!

Such a great idea to use foam as a base for boot covers. I've always had trouble getting the tall ones to stay up and have tried different methods so I'll remember this for next time

Love Clawdeen's cosplay ensemble. Seeing the entire process with the commentary on WHY choices were made adds to the "how to" of it all. YES, agreed on avoidance of the zipper. I will go to any lengths before ending up with a zipper. I seem to be incapable, even with the help of You Tube videos, to line up both tracks of a zipper. Usually I use snaps or hooks or frog closures or laces. I have even glued a vintage button onto a snap. ETSY and Amazon have tons of interesting fasteners at affordable prices. I will even use small amount of velcro to avoid the zipper, but velcro is my substitute of last resort.

So many great ideas! I've been binge watching you today. A little advice though! If you heat seal cheap satin like that after sewing it works well as long as the seams are inside the garment. Which looks like thats what you where doing anyways! An I also would sigzag over the seam. I am one for making my kids costumes as cheap as i can but with sewing quality! Anywho nice work!

Hey April, great video as always! I hated sewing when I was a teenager. Watching your videos made me really wanna retry it, you always make it seem so easy! Of course it wasn't easy at all :D anyway I self-taught myself to sew and after weeks of frustrating failures (don't ask me how many seams I've ripped open because it was wrong xD and the amount of skipped stitches because well, I started with a super cheap sewing machine, so that's on me), now I have made several dresses and shirts for my fiancé, both thrifting and made from scratch
@coolirpa
@coolirpa Год назад
Thank you! I agree on paying more for a machine that will give you less problems 😄
@Anonymous-zk7yk
@Anonymous-zk7yk Год назад
I can confirm the machine thing. I learned on a Nechi, my HS had Berninas, and I bought an $80 Janome for my first machine. Never had issues with any of those. I gave my Janome to my friend because I'd been given a project runway Brother. That thing was a nightmare. Every time I used it it would have issues. My mother gave me a 1963 turquoise Singer and it rarely has any issues. A good machine makes all the difference. The main difference (imo) between high and low quality machines is bells and whistles. Anything with a computer won't last long, certainly not 60+ years.
