Welcome to The Official Dave Harris Channel. It is my pleasure to have you as my guest. I believe that all of us are born with a different curiosity in a different aspect. My Channel might not give you all the answers but I can answer some of your questions about the Navy
I am blessed to have you as my guest and hope that you would stay and become a CERTIFIED SUBSCRIBER!
0:25 GADAMN IT! You're right man that is EXACTLY what they told me before I signed my contract man🤦♂️ I thought it was fair due to my low ASVAB score. Piece of advice to anyone reading this rn, DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTACT WITH THEM IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE ANY RESEARCH ON ALL THE JOB THEY HAVE, that was my #1 mistake before joining guys. Thank you for this video bro now I have more insight into what I'm getting myself into now.
In all reality this is a bunch of BS. Just to get you to sign up. Once you sign the Navy will put you where THEY want. My Son was promised to be a SEAL, was He got out of Bootcamp they sent Him to NAS Pensacola as a Airman. Made some lame excuse for not assigning Him to SEALS. You're on your own once they swear you in.
I know a 22 year old vet since childhood….. he always stuttered as a child , he just lied and said the military caused him ptsd and that’s when his stuttering began….he gets 3800 a month until he dies …and he left to the Philippines forever to fuck hookers ( he never even saw combat )
Im.35 and scored 65 on pretest. The recruiter was happy as fuck lmao. I dont have a high school diploma though. Im working on it. Im not dumb i just made bad choices.
Some I'd add: You dislike commitments. This is my biggest reason for getting out. In the civilian world if you dislike your job you are free to quit whenever and they can't do anything about it. You can't do that in the military. If your squad leader is a power-tripping jerk, oh well you signed the contract. You dislike being tested constantly with your job on the line. While they aren't hard, the ACFT, qual ranges, HT/WT, etc. stress me out and I got tired of it. I only want to worry about my job. You have zero patience for stupid BS. The military is the master at wasting your time and frustrating you. That's why you are compensated so well after 20 years. You dislike people. The military is not a good fit for loners and introverts who want peace and quiet. Hate to say it, but many service members are loud obnoxious and cringey pain the butts.
Respect! Being a submarine cook is lowkey my dream job. How many years did you do it for? Also how was the transition back into civilian world? What was your first job outta the navy?
When you mentioned for your loved ones to bring a box of clothes for you to graduation got A school, are they allowed to bring a suit case or does it have to be a box?
Damn that L shape rack.... i didnt have those when i was on the FFG, CG, and DDG, but the LCC rack and heads were pretty ok as far as standard goes, but still not a place for normal peeps toilets still dont work as they should, in the O club their living standards are way better then of lower enlisted... the head looks about right except we have metal toilets that never work.
I know this is an old video but OS does not related to ATC in the civilian world. Unless you are going to be an AIC controller then you have a chance. Being an OS gets you zero points towards ATC in the civil world. If you the want literally the best chance to become an Air Traffic Controller on the civil side then become an AC hands down. Has the best sea/ shore rotation out of all rates in the Navy. 5 yrs shore duty and only 2 yrs sea duty. OS is most based on ships so the rotation last I heard was still 5 sea and only 2 shore if not 1 shore.
I WAS IN THE NAVY FROM 2000-2008 AS A CS3 SW/AW. I HIGHLY DESPISED BEING A COOK. THE ADVANCEMENT RATE WHEN I WAS IN WAS 108% OVERMANNED THAT WAS BACK IN 2005. I WAS ON THE DWIGHT D EISENHOWER FROM 2000-2001, NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BARRACKS, 2001-2002, USS NASSAU LHA-4 2002-2005 NATIONAL NAVAL MEDICAL 2005-2008, AND THE USNS COMFORT MARCH 2007-OCTOBER 2007. I WAS A BAKER, ASSISTANT WATCH CAPTAIN, WATCH CAPTAIN, DIET OFFICE AIDE, PATIENT TRAY DELIVERER, AND ALSO WORKED IN SECURITY TOO. IF YOU REENLISTED UNDER THE STAR PROGRAM YOU CAN MAKE E-5 WITHIN 2 YEARS. I WAS ON A 9 MONTH DEPLOYMENT 0430AM TO 2000 PM. I DO NOT MISS THOSE DAYS AT ALL PERIOD.
