Quit flying about '77, but after watching this, I just scheduled a lesson for next weekend to learn to fly one of these old Condors at Dockweiler Beach. I'm making the 6 hour drive out from Phoenix. And why not? Hell I'm 69 and won't be around forever!
Neat to see the undersides of all the pretty gliders! ☺️ I like that camera location. It looks like it gives more unique reframing options. 😯 That seems like a lot of other gliders to look out for… looks stressful even if everyone isn’t at similar altitudes! 😬
I love hearing you “Woohoo!” at the awesomeness of it all! And those clouds streets (0:53), newly forming cloud (3:11), that cloud arch with whisps (4:00-4:15) Thanks for inspiring me (us)
such a cool event! i can't believe more people are there (or was the pic at 3:17 not everyone?) Goat looks super happy😀 Are you using an Insta360 camera?
There were about 16 contestants that actually flew, not including organizers, mentors, tug pilots, etc. 7 of the people in the pic were mentors. I think there were more people that helped with the event than flew in it!
i got lost at the end and when you landed i recognized the deck of the landing hills which threw met because that meant you were south of the LZ instead of north where I thought you were (i'm gonna need a better gps😄) Love your smile at the end! Also, what happened to the spot landing target at the bottom of the big hill?
Yeah I think the distortion of the wide angle lens makes it a bit harder to orient yourself. But towards the end of the flight when I was flying past Trenton you can see the ridge to the left of me, implying I was flying south. Not sure about the target, is it not there currently? I think it was pretty seldom used.
well done! I had fun "flying with you". The house you landed in front of is referred to as the "Duracell House" because it has a copper top😉 Looks like someone else sunk out with you (nice to fly together👍)
Haha thanks! Learned something new today about the area! That was Arik that landed with me. He tried following me to the point and sunk out in the same spot 😁
Nice flight, and I liked how you were clapping and playing around hehe went so well with the music. Looks like a nice warm day for winters. We here in mid Atlantic VA were flying in 30s yesterday.
this surely sounds as a bias but just look at this - what else can give that much joy , beauty, sense of freedom and breath-taking experience compared to a hang gliding? What else can provide a feel of a bird for an hour and more of such flying?
