Editing may cut it down to 60 seconds, but that took you at least 15-20 minutes plus getting prepped for the dive. Still impressive amount of money in that time.
My brother was a saturation diver from 1993 until 2001 and that’s a dangerous job. He worked in the North Sea at depths up to 500 feet deep servicing the offshore rigs. It’s not a job I could do I hate any open water and I wouldn’t even scuba dive let alone have to get in a pressurised diving bell then lowered to the bottom of the sea.
Good question. Not rust necessarily since we are dealing with stainless steel shaft and bronze prop nuts.. the prop is a blend of nickel and bronze too. With these metals, you will see green or pink corrosion. But there are zincs (sacrificial anodes) installed on the scat to prevent corrosion. They can still get seized together tho.
I have lots! Everything rusting eventually, ratchets are my arch nemesis. WD-40 moving parts. Get higher quality tools, stainless when possible, rise after every dive. But harbor freight for things like pliers that will get seized up anyway. Use lifetime warranty. Higher quality steel lasts much longer tho, just rinse, wd40 and wire brush.
Honestly ratchets doesn’t really matter what brand. Less moving parts or bigger moving parts the better. Quality matters, maintenance too. Freshwater rise and Idk if you’ve seen them but those handheld blowers… I might get one to dry gear off after I throw everything in the truck. Feel free if you have any other questions bro.
Yeah man I drop stuff every now and then. When I’m in shallow water just working on docks and stuff it’s more common. Less common when I’m working on boats. As long as it’s not too deep, not as issue. It becomes a problem when it’s like 40+ feet deep because I don’t have a reference line so I’m hoping I went straight down but not always the case.
