this is pretty cool...I live in Wisconsin and cannot even get the city officials to talk about having a one day tournament in a local city park with temporary portable baskets just once a year to raise $$ for the improvement of the park that the tournament would be held in...?
Bro, I just binge watched this and it's absolutely amazing. A sight into what disc golf communities are. Please do this more, do other communities and histories. Favorit disc golf watch since alden and makes me want to go play golden and meet these guys
A great story about community, which is one of the most important aspects of Disc Golf. It’s great to see how welcoming it can be. When I played Ultimate in the 80s, if we wern’t in the winning bracket after Saturday’s round, and a Disc Golf course was near, we’d go play a round with our lids. Any Disc Golfers we saw would nod with approval :)
Nice slice of showing the behind the scenes. Leonard has dedicated his life to frisbie. These are the people who have made the disc golf we have today. But, it seems many of the other disc sports (Double Disc Court, Guts, MTA, Freestyle, and others have been left behind, which is sad. Some of these other disc sports should be included at Disc Golf and Ultimate tournaments even if it’s just for fun at the parties at night :)
This kind of documentation is great for the sport. I'd love it if you came to Charlotte and did one of these on Kilbourne or Reedy Creek considering their long history. Keep up the great work! Happy Independence Day!!!
Im so glad I got to have some 1 on 1 training with Proctor. Since that day my putting has been so much better, my flicks are still trash though 😂 Go get ‘em’ James!
Awesome to see him doing well. I feel like you can't really tell the story of DG without DW, but, like many others, he was too early to benefit much from the boom it is now (and growing), or become a major face to the newer generation of players. We see what he's throwing now in distance contests and, while it is impressive, when he was doing it originally, it was an exclusive club. Now there are many players throwing well over 500', and people are competing from all over the world. Such amazing growth in the sport. I'm happy to see him still showing up here and there so everybody can get to know his story and his place in DG history.
Remember that this was created in the winter of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was in full effect. Masks/social distancing/COVID protocols were all in effect.
I love this documentary but the last world record doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you have a world record during 95 mph winds? I went down to the park when it was super windy and I threw 609 ft. I throw 400 ft😂
The difference is your distance is only offical for You, his were in an organized competition with the current rules applied. I might never be beaten even in those conditions and he keep winning distance competitions. I would guess the next official competition for the actual world record will be with some rules for wind and slope applied, hopefully with less accuraccy than the latest ones since its hard to air it out fully. I have ZERO issues with his record being the max distance pre x and the next he sets the max distance after x. Keep hucking Wiggins! :)
@@Iliyena87 I completely get what you're saying and he's a beast. I'm just saying distance competitions should have no more than 5 mph wind and no more than 5 ft of elevation change. That way people can see how far you can really throw.
Stoked to hear of more amazing disc golfers living in Charlotte! So many great challenging courses to play in Charlotte. Keep up the great work making these videos!
Missy is so great. Glad her and Tom got themselves a house where it’s warm! But I’ll always rock my Missy hat and Missy discs for NY. She fuckin rocks. Big Major Money Missy.
Brilliant work, again! Similar documentary of Matty O would be amazing, if you still have the inspiration and budget to do these things on your own (I read the pinned comment before posting my own)
Hum Brah! During migration, our courses are great to combine birding with disc golf. Nice to see a couple of our local courses get some love. Cheers, David. Y'eard me!
