The World's 50 Best Restaurants list is an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of almost 1,000 international restaurant industry experts. What constitutes "best" is left to the judgement of these trusted and well-traveled gourmets. There is no pre-determined check-list of criteria; for example an interesting experience in a simple establishment, where exceptional innovation was discovered, could be judged better than a more opulent meal from a widely feted restaurant team. The results are a simple computation of votes.
Given that this well-constructed list is based on personal experiences it can never be definitive, but we believe it is an honourable survey of current tastes and a credible indicator of the best places to eat around the globe.
The 50 Best Restaurants brand also includes Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants and Asia's 50 Best Restaurants.
From the NYT with respect to this list and one of its entries: "Rasmus Munk, chef of the eighth-best restaurant in the world, Alchemist, in Copenhagen, pipes a mousse of lamb brains and foie gras into a bleached lamb skull, then garnishes it with ants and roasted mealworms. Another of the 50 or so courses - the restaurant calls them “impressions”- lurks inside the cavity of a realistic, life-size model of a man’s head with the top of the cranium removed" No thanks. 🙂
This is subjective. A group of people trying to tell you the best restaurant is a little ridiculous. I have ate at 6 of the restaurants on this list and they don’t come close to the little old ladies taco stand off imperial highway in east LA
Every year is different some move up some move down some don't make the list, this is our industry way to get recognized and create a buzz for industry where the labor and the food cost is 60% of the industry p&l. Why don't you go create the best taco stand the top 50! You want some Andrew Tate sh!!t
