Iris Calculator is a tool for helping design and make mechanical iris diaphragms quickly and precisely. We also have a range of irises available in our store. Try it for yourself at: iris-calculator.com
I have tried 4 times and followed the exact instruction just to come to the conclusion that this tutorial is shit, seriously enough to make a grown up cry
Hi there, Please see my introduction video on my aperture I built ten years ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cpdQGh1y3F0.htmlsi=L12DXI-LPOfcwZwv Regards, Jeffrey
I just paid for your program and I like it! But I am having difficulty on how to make one to use with card stock paper, is there a way I can contact someone to help me?
Great. I had this idea aome hours ago, when I looked up ways to glue a circle from wood strips. Now I see you had this idea already. But I would like to use more segments for a better circle.
So, when I was a kid, my mom could never find a working flashlight because I was always taking them apart and using pieces for experiments. I'll bet this guy's mom had the same problem. 😂
Can you do a demonstration of how it is designed into a box like that on fusion 360? I have my iris downloaded from the calculator but I am having issues putting it together. The leafs overlap too high and the pins I make are not long enough to hold the body or actuator rings
Two opposite leaves are independent in the array. When the aperture closes down to about 2 mm, a cam pulls the pivot pins of those two leaves back, allowing them to act like a shutter. There's a brief write-up here: iris-calculator.com/creating-the-best-engagement-ring-box/
As long as the blades are distributed evenly-ish, ensuring some blade overlap, it would function. 4 blades stacked next to each other probably wouldn't work though, as the first would bump into the last as it closes.
changing the shape of the slots on the control ring will result in different shapes as the iris closes. start by making the sides push less than the tops and then tune to get the shape you want. hope this makes sense! good luck!
Absolutely wouldn't. There are already glasses lenses that dim themselves when you are outside, and if you cant afford that there are clip on sunglasses you can buy for your glasses.
Good stuff, Could be improved with a large threaded screw in the base that also twists along with the shutter movement to raise the ring through the opening.
