Spaghetti iris dismantled and reassembled 

Couldnt find any videos on "how they work", came here.. now I know. Far more simple than I imagined.

As long as the blades are distributed evenly-ish, ensuring some blade overlap, it would function. 4 blades stacked next to each other probably wouldn't work though, as the first would bump into the last as it closes.
