I seem to lack focus but it's fun! Videos I create and those I like, channels I subscribe to are all over the map.
I try to upload a video about once a week or so regarding some current project. RU-vid has a learning curve with it ~ I'm grateful for the content other folks put here, I'm enjoying sharing some of the stuff I do. Hopefully some of it can be useful or even entertaining!

It's not normal to have this much trouble, just bad luck. Midnite solar has been awesome with tech support and fast service. A neat, innovative company where knowledgeable folks actually pick up the phone and solve problems. Good support this time from Magnum as well.
Probably mostly irrigation. We'll be coupling it directly to a little homemade axial flux alternator for efficient battery charging in an off grid power system.
This is fascinating. It would be great to have a CNC machine to carve that wood, just like guitar factories use. They are so accurate. I wonder if a 3D printer of some sort would also work (of course the blade material would be also something to consider).
Actually these blades were carved with a CNC router. And definitely you could 3d print these although I prefer wood. All that said... very easy to hand carve too. The brain is a pretty good computer and the human body is excellent at controlling tools ;)
This was my favorite video of the series so far. It matches well to my second small axial flux alternator I built with it being about 23 rpm/volt at no-load. I'm glad you talked about efficiency a bit and really explained how the restive losses were split between your load and the coils in the alternator.

Lol, no. Just a high school diploma and a bit of machine shop class. Lots of years delivering pizza! 😊 mostly I'm a shade tree mechanic who's spent most of my time living off grid with too much time on my hands. I have taught lots of workshops on this stuff though, and years ago we made a book 'homebrew windpower'.

Thank you. I will, when it needs king pins but for now mine have no noticeable play. It's quite a bit easier to clean them I think that replace them, and mine are not worn out. I do have spares in stock for when the time comes.

I just cast my 5" stator tonight. 200 turns 24 awg, 3/8" thick, 12 coils. There are 6 1.25" dia. x 1/4" thick N52 magnets sitting on a 1/2" plate. I'm going to wire it up as two separate single phase, 6 coil machines with two individual single phase rectifiers.
You have installed your cable clamps backwards. The saddle (not the u-bolt) should be against the "live" side which is the one carrying the load. You have the saddle on the "dead" side. Always follow the wise saying "You don't saddle a dead horse". This applies to all of the guy cables as well as the winch cable. The u-bolt is more likely to cut through or weaken the cable.
