If you don't feel comfortable removing the box, there are retrofit 4" units that are available. That being said, a 6", like he installed generally has more light output. One thing to note on changing from a domed (boob) ligfht to recessed slims is that your light angle has changed to a more downward light instead of an outward light from the dome. This may illuminate the floor and most of the wall height, but the top of the walls and the ceiling are only getting lit with reflected light from below. Sometimes just replacing a dome light with a modern LED fixture will be significantly better and simpler as you'll get a similar light pattern but the fixture doesn't need to be so big to fit 2 incandescent bulbs in it (also LED and CFL bulbs are horrible in dome lights as the heat doesn't dissipate and ultimate ruins the bulbs quickly). New flush mount fixtures can be MUCH slimmer. Good video. Well explained.
You guys did an amazing job on this house! Are you a full-time woodworker/contractor or do you have a day job and do these projects on nights/weekends?
Our daughter just did a 200k renovation on her house and went trim less because her designer told her this was trending. She hates it now because everyone tells her the renovation looks fantastic but without exception ask how ask she is going to trim out her doors and window openings.
Wow! The best part is that you totally invented it just the way you've claimed! Here are some adjectives in no particular order describing your awesome and totally original invention! Clever Alluring Level Tri-legged Rugged Ostentatious Perfect
Respectfully… why not just use plywood for the curved portion instead of using it simply for the template? Seems like more work than needed but I’m not an expert… sincerely asking.
I love the look of this, the only thing I'd worry about with that headboard is cleaning the grooves out when they inevitably get dusty. I think if I made this I'd do much wider slats for boards about 2" wide with a 1" gap between them and I'd probably skip the routing channels for them.
BEAUTIFUL! I want one of this in my house, enter into this video thinking "maybe I can do it myself so I dont waste so much money" Thank you, I'm DEFINITELY going to buy it now 😂
I LOVED the vid, the thought process, the planning ahead and prepping for each step. That's what experience is for (in my head at least). I hope it won't be the last Pinterest make lol One question though: why use this flat-join and not dominoes? 🤔
This is the first video I've watched of yours amazing work and great result! Gained yourself a subscriber keep up the hard work looking forward to watching your other videos!
Seeing you cut all that MDF for the jig made my lungs hurt. MDF is made from wood fibers combined with resin, often containing formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen. When you cut, sand, or machine MDF, it releases fine dust particles that can be harmful if inhaled. These particles can irritate your respiratory system, and long-term exposure can lead to more serious health issues. Using a respirator is highly recommended to protect yourself from inhaling these particles, along with working in a well-ventilated area or using dust extraction systems. Thousands of people watch this stuff, be a good role model.
Looks great, but it's really difficult to see the finished project at the end because you have all the suggested videos covering it up. On an up note, you did finally give me a great reason to have a kid!!
