Both sets of grandparents (born between 1919 and 1930 respectively) and my father (born in 1954), all HUGE Cubs fans that never got to witness this historic moment. My mother and I watched the Cubs entire playoff run up until the final out of the 10th inning in Game 7 of the World Series. Like many others we cheered, and we cried, when that last out was recorded. We both held pictures of both sets of grandparents as well as a picture of my father together as we watched Game 7. I literally hit my knees after the last out. I pointed to Heaven and I said “God, I know You’re listening! I have one thing ti ask……FLY THE W!!!!!!!!”
Not a CUBS fan but I am a baseball fan! I acknowledge the awesomeness of the CUBS going all the WAY!!!!!!!!! I pulled for them the whole playoffs that year even over my team…still go bravO’s!
It was more ppl of colored on the team you got to admit tho the fans was mostly white could of at least had some blacks and brown ppl as well especially for a song video
When they won it I didn't know quite what to do. My family and I are loyal Cub fans . Through thick and thin we are loyal fans. My favorite time at Wrigley field was singing with Harry.
One of the greatest fairy-tales moments in sports-stories history, 07-years ago today.....The Chicago Cubs have finally ended their 108-years drought of long tormented cursed is over. They have earned my respect ever since winning the [2016] W.S. on 11/02/2016! #FlyTheW #GoCubsGo
I always end up in a puddle of tears every time I watch Eddie Vedder’s video or the highlights of the Cubs 2016 World Series championship. What other MLB team can take a 3-1 deficit and force a 7 game series…with extra innings…and a 2 hour rain delay? My grandpa, an immigrant from Sweden who fell in love with baseball after coming to Chicago, and my dad never saw their beloved Cubs win it all. How I wish I could share my joy with my dad! But I know that there was a party in heaven that night.
This was one of those moments as a sports fan you have to admire. I grew up a Cardinals fan in central Illinois where everyone was either a Cubs or Cards fan. I didn’t follow baseball too much as an adult but I was glued to the TV on this night rooting for the Cubbies and for sports history! It was pretty special to witness.
Gotta love how this was one of the greatest World Series ever even the Sox’s World Series which was one of the least watched couldn’t compete to a cubs World Series where the world was watching
I said the greatest day of my life was when we beat L.A. and made it to the World Series. A week later I said the greatest day of my life was being at Wrigley for a World Series game. A week later WAS the greatest day of my life.
Years back I worked at a target store. They hired Santa over the Christmas holidays. One day I told him all i ever wanted for the rest of my life was a Cubs World Series win. he put his arm around my shoulders and said...."I'm sorry son, i'm not God, i'm Santa Clause and I can't do miracles.'" I guess God heard and finally decided a miracle was needed. For all those who didn't see it happen. For all the players who gace us great baseball. And for Harry Carey. God bless us one and all.
When our trip had ended I didn’t know what I had to do. Who really cares at all? I had to get away somehow. Settled on the place where the open road had closed.
