p3r is amazing, but it lacks its own identity. it tries to be just like 5 with a persona 3 coat of paint. also personally i prefer 4 and 5 from the og and reload, to me at least the stories, characters and gameplay is better but 3 is still amazing and i think the story is better but i prefer its successors. a 4 remake (if done well ofc) will probs be my favourite in the series
another thing is that im a huge p5 fan, so after playing p5 then going to p3r was disappointing gameplay wise at least, but i love p3r's look and style (ui and menu) it looks sleek and sick
I grew up with the PS2 and it was amazing experience, i'm choosing this console nowdays instead of the recent ones.I'm collecting all the games!!!!!!!!!
PS2 will always have the better master race and better games than Gaystation 5 and that's that 🕺🕺🕺 Boy am i so glad i grew up in the PS2 era back then. I just bought a PS2 at a Pawn Shop for like $125 and i must say, that was the best buy of my entire life and i was thinking of selling my PS4 to a Salvation Army or something.
Seeing things you grew up with become retro and opined for by younger people is odd, because I did the same thing as a kid (playing NES and SNES when ps2/ps3 was current). Everything shifts. Glad I got to live thru ps2 era
Whatever man, I have a PS2 here and it's just collecting dust... I spent more time getting an MX4SIO working and getting a custom Guitar Hero 2 iso going than playing any other game. I had a DS back in the day I rather play decent DS game (there's load) than 95% of the PS2 library. I think people just have nostalgia for games that weren't even all that great. For someone that grew up playing mostly Super Nintendo and N64, and than emulating GBA on PC and then playing DS, I'm glad I really didn't miss much of anything. Crash? Yeah, it's cool, but have you played Mario? SotC? Epic, but how about the N64 Zeldas? I also never really got that much into GTA, it bothers me that GTA V actually ruined Zelda by forcing it to become the shitstorm it became with BotW. All those RPGs also pale in comparison to Chrone Trigger, a SNES game... Like dude, I really don't get why people go so crazy over the PS2 (and God of War is the most overrated pile of crap, like playing this game feels like those cheap Hyrule Warriors games where you just mash and kill tons of enemies, then do it all over again... Like where's even the fun in this braindead stuff?). I can only think of Guitar Hero games as a plus, and from Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band they were on pretty much every console, so whatever, again
I'm not necessarily saying i disagree with anything said here, but the difference between Yukari and Junpei in regards to how receptive fans are to them is that Junpei directly addresses and grows from the things fans could initially dislike about him and ultimately becomes a better person because of it. Even if Yukari had a character arc, alot of the aspects of her character that are disliked largely remain the same throughout the story. Her behavior, mannerisms and the way she treats specific characters doesn't really change in hindsight. I wouldn't say she's a poorly written character by any means, and she has her moments, but would it really be that far-fetched if she was perceived as a bitch?
I have a genius idea for the next persona game, listen: 1st - we are not playing as a trickster and don't have a wild card ability, but we play as a ruin charecter, who can awake Persona in any man or woman. 2nd - we fight against the trickster, who using his abilities in not a good way. 3rd - The trickster is protagonist's father.
Honestly, it was better when Megaten fans were inside the closet instead of being all over the place. SMT and Persona feels like algorithm based targeted ads nowadays instead of what the developers really want to make.
As someone with a life on par if not way worse than Sayori's, and friends whom are in a very similar boat, her social link made me feel seen but it was also upsetting to some degree. I think what rubbed me the wrong way is she went through all that emotional turmoil only for conclusion to be.... (spoilers) an incest enjoyer 💀💀💀
P5R message: Move on and endure even if it means dealing with a world that's sometimes unfair and cruel. Me: Fuck it!!Maruki-san take me to your ideal world where I could always be happy, I don't want any harships in my life.If it means rewritting this unfair reality, I will happily accept you with open arms as a God and praise you until the end of the Universe!!
I had a similar story, but the villain of my story was my own dad. Basically I wanted a PS3 because all my friends had PS3s and they were all playing Call Of Duty together (I live in Brazil, so PSN allowing you to play online for free was a big deal, since back then LIVE memberships were really expensive on our currency), but my dad really wanted the Xbox 360, and he couldn't explain why he wanted the X360, and he still is unable to explain today, he barely touched the console to this day. And that's how I missed on the golden era of Call Of Duty games.
Was always a Playstation 2 ans Nintendo Gamecube kid. I recently bought a OG xbox and a Dreamcast and i loved them so much! Probably my favorite video game generation
i was born mid 2000s and grew up with ps2 and 1 cuz my uncles/aunts were obsessed with it, and im glad they did! edit: its the same reason why crash bandicoot is my all time fav
I too, had an original Xbox during the console generation. My dad came back from a vacation with a bunch of knockoff Asian ps2 games in the ps3 era though. That was fun but they were the wrong region for NA consoles.
I never got to play the PS2 Grand Theft Autos because my parents didn't want me or my brother playing The Hooker Killer Simulator, so I've just never really got around to them.
Good video as usual. I will say, as someone with 0 stake in the persona 2 good or bad debate. This video read more to me like a rebuttal or response when compared to the video you made on the first game. I dont recall any talk about the dungeon exploration or how the overworld works here. And while your points and complaints seemed fair. I didnt feel i had much understanding coming out of the video for why you liked Eternal Punishment so much more. Aside from some character and story elements. I also feel i didnt come out of the video with nearly as good a grasp on the games as i got eith your video on the OG. Maybe i missed something though. I usually watch your long persona videos a couple times so maybe ill pick up on something i didnt quite tune in enough too. Either way i appreciate your content and work!
I had a ps2 as a kid, and i only had 3 games. rayman 3, rattatoulie, and spyro hero tail. I also had a wireless logitech controller, and damn. can you guess what game I played the most? It wasnt rattatoulie (ok, it was rattatoulie). when I was around 10 or 11 I started getting really interested in older consoles, my brother had all this lying around and I didnt care until that point. fun fact: im pretty sure the ps2 version had a completely different ost, cause when I searched the ost to listen to it, it sounded completely different
Issue i have is the movie adds alot of context which is not added to reload. Such as Yukari not liking Makoto because he does things cause hes told to, not because he wants to. This is big plot up until second full moon.
Now that I have seen persona 3 and persona 3 reload put next to eachother, I can see that the original did way better with cutscenes and impact of the story compared to reload
I don't think the game is homophobic because Kanji didn't turn out to be gay at the end, but I do think it's homophobic because in the camping scene Yu and Yosuke were both incredibly homophobic to Kanji and the game never addresses that ever or calls them out for it and just treats it like a "Haha funny" and for good measure the homophobic scene leads into a scene where the punchline is "haha this character is overweight isn't that funniii?"
Also worth mentioning that 80% of the Slice of Life scenes involve the guys being incredibly sexist or being outright creeps. I don't hate P4, but it definitely has a lot of issues.
This is the most 'first world problems' video I've ever seen. It's almost as bad as Rishi Sunak complaining that his childhood was ruined because they didn't have Sky TV.
The first two are absolutely darker. The music alone sets a way darker tone more reminiscent of mainline SMT games. Whether the characters are better is highly subjective. I will say that I prefer where the characters spend most of the game interacting with the main plot and not a whole bunch of side plots. I have enough hobbies, work, and a life that I don't need to live vicariously through virtual teenagers.
