His vivid lyrics remind me of Kurt Cobain and red hot chili peppers.... And I feel he speaking on power dynamics...on how money is perceived to be bait for women.. n male credence is valued against how many or how much punani..one gets...he saying I feel us as males have everything but because we weigh monetary value to women instead of our value..we engage in the weed n alcohol..the vices are there cause us as males assume we not okay so we distract with the vice
I’m pretty sure dead inside was def abt Geneva when she cheating on him that’s why he saying “where was I when he was touching on you with his hands at night” bc when he went to jail a call was leaked abt her telling him what happened and why she did it (why she cheated on him)
You were wrong on Joeclyn flores. She was a girl who reached out to x because she wanted to be a model. X flew her and another girl out, someone in the room took money. X then kicked everyone out his room and got them all there own rooms till they can get a flight home. X had a friend check on Jocelyn throughout the night and everytime he came back she was in the bathroom and the door was locked. He got worried and had the hotel manager opened the door to find her there dead. Thats why he was so affected by it, because he wanted to help her pursue a modeling career
This is a really great synopsis of 3 of the songs from Frank Ocean's studio albums. I really like the way you interpret the dual meanings of "Nights" and 'Pyramids" and I agree with there are more perspectives to approach when looking at when providing a listening ear to this songs. OMG and Siegfried.... This composition of melodies brings me the appreciate your authenticity of Frank Ocean's character and what he states on the record" This is not my life, this is a fond farewell to a friend" from the outro bar of the 1st verse and transitioning to the bridge. then the melody comes in and his next lines explains all of his thoughts in this song...
Great breakdown. I think this is one of the best songs ever written. I’m not sure if you mentioned it but the whole second verse Sampson is telling Cleopatra, her future and the future of her people, if she decides to run away with him. telling her “we’ll run to the future shining like diamonds in a rocky world.” Then he describes the ‘strippers’ “skin like bronze, hair like Kashmir as we dance to the rhythm on the palace floor“ then has to be describing the ’strip club’ when he says “chandeliers inside the pyramids tremble from the force. Cymbals crash inside the pyramids, voices fill up the halls.” Being as it doesn’t accurately describe The Pyramids of their time, which were tombs
Bro his first two projects maybe three if you’re counting that first unofficial fan project, it’s some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my life, ya’ll need to do the Suns tirade next
Soliloquy is defined as "an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play" so you're right, he's just trying to flex his pen on that one
Extreme respect to Glover for somehow making a funk song, (nearly 50 years after the genre’s prime) better than a fuck ton of funk songs. I loved your analysis at the end! I definitely hear you on that! The album cover (and the structure of me and your mama imo) is inspired by funkadelics album/song “Maggot Brain”.
