Tread sealer is not needed as the gasket is doing the sealing.

The drain is 1 1/2", how does a 1 1/4 reducer fit, is that how it works, I'm so confused.

I want to share how I solved the slow leak on my new Rubbermaid 100 gal stock tank. As others have noted, the seal is achieved by the gasket and not the threads. All that was needed was to tighten the bulkhead nut a lot (obviously not to the point of cracking) using channellock pliers. No sealant/chemicals/tape required.

I love my Rubbermaid 100 gal stock tank. When you buy your new stock tank! MAKE SURE THE DRAIN VALVE is tighten. You need some big Channel locks. To tighten the nut. on the stock tank, NOT THE DRAIN PLUG! The tanks drain adapter OK Mine was loose. but it never did leak, I just took my finger to see if it was tight? and it was NOT! I would never known this? if i wasn't putting a filter pump on the drain
@426superbee4
@426superbee4 Год назад
I'am going to use the drain on mine, for a filter pump > its 1.5 outlet. So 1.5 nipple down to 1.25 hose out let EASY AS PIE, Then take the inlet hose just throw it over the top down into the tanks i can use plastic ties to hold the inlet hose in place. Love the holes around the top to

I agree! Not adequet for quail! I had the same issue with this machine. Fully developed in shell and dead. I use the extra hole for the external humidier and this machine needs another hole for air.

The heating pad under is great and not directly under but elevated above the heating pad on low. I used coasters under the corners of the machine and it worked great constand 99.5! Find her video its called 100% hatch rate! RU-vid

Ive had horrible hatch rates with this on my quail. Out of 44 eggs i got 6! The trays make the egg goes in all the wrong directions and after i did a 100% hatch rate of chicken eggs. I called this morning they tell me they should be like a 75 % hatchrate or more but i got two horrible hatchrates for quail and 100% for chicken. I think those egg turners need to be changed for quail

Why don't you buy the digital humidifier. It should take care of the problems. Also use blue foam to fill the gap between the egg turner to keep the eggs rolling properly. Cut them at the same angle so the eggs keep a small amount of pressure to jeep them in place. Just a thought. 🙂

Found an abandoned baby quail today, or should I say she found me! She ran straight at me and sat on my foot. I live in southern Oregon. I looked around and waited for mamma to show, but nothing. What should I do?

My wife and I had a similar idea, except mounted outside the cage and a quarter of it cut out down the length of the PVC pipe for their heads and then cutting holes in the caging for their heads and having it mounted to the cage. So basically a 3/4 circle trough. This is even better and surprisingly doesn't take up any room inside the cage and is more similar to the Tupperware containers with holes cut in them everyone loves as a cheap no waste feeder. Only problem with them is they take up more room inside the cage and eggs apparently always get hung up on them. This is the perfect combination of those Tupperware container ones with holes and a trough or J-feeder. Love it, this is what I'm going to use. It's small and unobtrusive, very cheap and easy to do and everything the Tupperware containers are not. No eggs are getting hung up on that on a tilted floor cage with egg catcher. Might just have to fasten it to the back with wire so it doesn't slide forward on a tilted floor cage. Love your logic too "end caps? Lol, too expensive and no need, this thin little cap will do just fine and only a buck". Bravo, I've done the same with other projects with PVC too, just glue or caulk (or tape like you did) a blow off cap or those thin slip over caps (frequently blue or red in color) like they also sell in with the ABS and PVC piping, if doing something which does not require strength or good watertight sealing.

@MrBilld75

@@Sheilazy1 Wish I had a picture, but I have not built one yet and don't have any Quail yet. I would like to get them come spring or summer, when others local to me, are breeding again. Seems nobody is breeding around me in the winter, but the few connections I have found here (just small scale private Quail keepers), said that come spring they will be breeding again. I have most of the supplies to build cages but haven't done any building yet. I really don't want to order them from elsewhere further away from me and have them shipped in winter, too cold and they eggs won't likely be viable due to that. There are sellers online, who ship them from a few hours South of me, but with winter and shipping, I think the chances of them being viable are low and nobody guarantees viability of the eggs, so...... I just don't want to waste my money. The more local, the better. I would actually like to by chicks/live Quail to start and then get them laying and hatch my own, rather than start with eggs and hatch them. I want to ease into this and do hatching after I have got some live ones and get used to keeping them. I'm so new to this and inexperienced.
