Hi, excellent video my wife and I are traveling to Japan end of July for 19 days with our 3 children 12 yr, 2 yrs and 3 month . I was debating between renting a car vs using the trains. Would a JR pass be worth it ? Waiting in long lines with little children would be quite painful . What would your advice be . Do bigger strollers even fit on the trains ? Best regards
Love your video, I just shelled out for the 14 day pass. The reason I did this was because I was having anxiety issues after watching (too) many videos about the Shinkansen. I had enough so I bit the bullet and I feel much better. I’m an experienced Asia traveler but the Shinkansen thing was driving me nuts. I booked on Klook which had better price than JR and they threw in free eSIM (3GB data only) but one less thing to worry about getting off the plane.
I’ve used the Simply Filling Plan , it was the best over 35 years that works for me👍🏻 WW will continue changing plans , it’s how they make $$ ,what plan worked for you and stick with it, it’s not easy but worth it. There are a lot of videos on about every WW plan , you should still have your books or calculators. Just type in Purple Plan on RU-vid and you will have a lot to choose from🥰
We didn’t experience any of these issues or concerns with the Jr Pass. It was very easy to reserve seats for 9 people. And like someone else said, you don’t have to make a reservation to ride. There are certain cars that care for unreserved. JR Rail pass is amazing! Very efficient and effective. But hey to each its own.. All of my trains were quiet and not packed with tourists. I think she is just nit picking every little thing. Smh…
I'm glad I stumbled upon your video. I completely get what you're driving at. I was sort of on the fence re getting a regional JR Pass. This video helped me make up my mind not to buy JR Pass. Thank you!
Wondering if you have trouble changing your water amount. I've been trying to switch from 8 oz to 10 oz and I finally got it to work one day and then the next day it was back to 8 oz. Software glitch?
Can direct me to where I can get more information on the activity portion of my app? I have asked a lot of people and looked in the app, no one seems to know the answer, evern at the in person workshops. I don't understand why I only earn 1 to 3 extra points per day. How does it work? How do you get more points? I do have a tracker attached. Is there a formula somewhere?
Hello, so I think im gonna do the Nozomi green bullet train for all the cities i visit. Not doing the JR pass. Do you recommend for them to be bought online or is it better to buy at the station kiosk the day of the trip?
I never book ahead because then I have to take that exact train and lose all flexibility. The exception being if you’re in Japan during a holiday. You’ll definitely want to book ahead in that case.
Hi Manya, I recently did a trial of Slimming World and it seemed like how I remember the Purple Plan (so carbs like brown rice, pasta, quinoa and potatoes are "free foods" as well as fruit, veg, fat free yogurt, eggs, lean meat etc.). I felt that the plan was a bit stingy in terms of treats though, I always seemed to go over my allowance and it was discouraging. I'm thinking of going back to WW 😊
I always buy the JR pass when I plan on traveling. We usually go to Yokohama Station, where the lines are short or nonexistent. I’m sorry you had a horrible experience but that was not our case. We take the Hikari to Kobe in the green class and it was quiet and comfortable. Same on the Sanyo, Sakura and Hokuriku. Since the prices have gone up, I calculated how much it would cost for individual tickets compared to the pass. IThe 11:26 pass still came out cheaper than individual tickets. I also usually book hotels that are close to the station. Too bad they got rid of the cart. We usually bought ice cream on board. I don’t need the Japanese experience since I grew up in Japan. I am Japanese American and yes, I can speak Japanese. My husband, who is Chinese American prefers to go to Japan. I went to China once and I never want to go back.
What worked for me in 2006 was Turnaround, and I maintained a 40-50 pound loss until I lost a few friends during Covid. When I tried Purple, each day I'd do a tally in my mind of Turnaround points, and I was somehow always on target! Now I want to try Turnaround eating mostly Purple foods like the healthy grains, oatmeal, lean meats, fruit and veggies, etc. I've got tons of paper trackers from ebay, so this is my plan. Track Turnaround with Purple in mind.
Thank you for your honesty. I enjoy your videos. I to do best when I eat a more plant based diet. Starches and veggies make me feel awesome. I love beans.........but I really don't care for meats. I do like fish every once in a while. I can't have dairy, nuts, and many spices due to allergies........so I am always having to change recipes I get and etc. I think the purple plan would be awesome for me, but since it don't exist anymore.........I am on the new plan, which I hate having to weigh and measure every starch I eat.......Starch makes up most of my meals and even desserts, since I use sweet potatoes for making cookies, muffins. I can't do fake sugars, or sugar free junk it breaks me out in hives.....so sugar, or date sugar or just date paste is my go to. Could you maybe make a video showing how I could maybe do the purple plan now either with the app or another app. Thank you very much.
I wish purple was still available. How do you feel now that your back to eating meat. Do you still eat as many potatoes and rice? Personally, I am struggling on WW new plan...because I don't eat eggs, dairy, meat and etc......not even tofu.........so that leaves me eating veggies and I eat starches......but not losing.
1 serving of traditional peanut butter is 190 calories. 1 serving of any of these powdered brands are between 45- 60 calories per serving. Unless you are diabetic and watching your sugar intake, powdered form is a great route and the sugar is a non factor. Also, 1 packet of Stevia to all of these selections makes for a sweeter flavor. Great video.
Hi! Excellent video.. I use chronometer once in awhile to track the macros and yeah it’s a pain! I’m Slowing losing on WW but finding it easy to follow now . On a 63 day tracking streak. Down 6 pounds in those 2 months. Thanks for the information. Stay well! ❤❤
All is well! I had a friend visiting for two weeks and I thought I'd scheduled some older videos to go live but I must have done it wrong because they never showed up! Hope you're well.
@@gailfrain2975 It's super easy! On the main screen, just choose the item you want to delete and drag your finger from the right to left across the item and you should see an option to delete it. Let me know if that works!
Do you like this new plan as well as the purple plan. I have been watching your purple plan videos. For me eating plant based, I believe the purple plan would do best. Are you not eating plant based anymore, more meats now.
Hi there. Sorry for the delay...I've had a friend in town visiting and took some time off. No, I do not like the new plan as well and I'm working on a video to show you how to hack the current WW so you can still follow the Purple Plan. And no, I'm no longer plant based. I decided when I moved to Japan that it would be too difficult. And because I wanted to experience the culture to the fullest. Thanks for being here!
Hi there. As I mention in the video, I’m not a budget traveler so what is cheaper isn’t that important to me. As for buses, they certainly work but they are much, much slower than the trains. I avoid them except when they are the only option.
I am in Tokyo now Yes it is my misstated to buy JR pass return I lose 20% also I need to return the unused exchange order by tracked delivery the fee is cost me too if I see your RU-vid I will not lose my money and also it not convenient at all you need to transfer even I bought a green card it not worked and first class convenience like the way you thought not recommend for to buy a green card you can buy a single ticket at the station ( from Tokyo to Osaka first class 1 way only $20000 JPY ) it will cost you less where ever you want to go( JR pass they charge me $476 USD / 7 days pass ) only pick you at your nearby station location and on the way back they drop you off the same station, even I am asking on the way back I asked for drop me off at Haneda airport they said I need transfer by my own OMG even you have your Green card ( do not listen to some people recommend to buy JRPass on RU-vid) 🍁 🇨🇦
That would be awesome. I want to follow Purple because I eat most of my foods from the starch and veggie, bean group. Thank you. Your videos are very good@@ShorrThing
This site looks like it has good information: www.jrpass.com/green-pass. But as I mention in my video, the green cars on the slower trains are not as good as the regular green cars. So if you’re not a budget traveler and you care about those kind of things, bear that in mind.
Hello, excellent video, I'm going to Japan in April, is it worth buying the jrpass or buying a separate ticket for each route? I will stay 18 days (4-osaka, 4-kyoto and finally 10-tokyo) with the unlimited jrpass, can I go normally or will I still need to pay extra to get to Osaka? But my biggest initial question is whether it's worth getting the jrpass to go from Haneda to Shin Osaka, could you help me please? thanks (I'm using the translator, sorry)
Hi there. My advice is to find a JR Pass calculator online and plug in your trips. I can’t define for you whether or not it’s worth it….only you can make that decision for yourself. As I explain in my video, I’m not a budget traveler so that doesn’t factor into my decision.
I wish that WW had the purple plan still. I eat a plant based diet which is mostly starches and veggies with beans. Under the purple plan the zero point foods were foods I eat mostly. On the WW plan now, the zero points foods I do not eat except for the veggies. I don't eat dairy, meat, fish eggs, tofu, corn, popcorn and etc. How could I do the purple plan and still use the app, do you think it is possible or not?
It’s possible if you’re willing. To do it in the WW app, my advice is to just not log any food that would be 0 points on purple and restrict yourself to 16 points a day. If you don’t want to do that, you could sign up for the Healthi app and pay for their Better Balance plan, which you can customize to match the purple plan. I hope that helps! I do have a video coming out soon comparing WW and Healthi which you might enjoy.
