Simple question. Why isn’t my mix on the board reflecting the recording into my DAW? For instance, the panning of a channel, EQ or anything. The tracks appear dry once I record to Ableton from the 10 outputs of the Mixer. Doesn’t matter what knob i’ve turned before recording In Ableton. Nothing reflects. What settings am I missing? Also, the “Main” Mix fader doesn’t push up the “Master volume” at all. I can only hear from the channel faders. Just bought this mixer today and still learning it. I appreciate any info you have to resolve these two questions lol
I would highly recommend to go to my channel and watch all the videos on the M12 to better understand the mixer. I cover every aspects of it to get you started.
Could you please do one of your demonstration videos of printing the inbuilt effects to a mixed track that has been done solely on the model 12? Thank you.
These videos are great! Tascam should pay you for making them! I've had my Model 12 for years and only since watching your videos have I really begun to understand it.
I rely on the Behringer MIC500 USB every day for almost all my audio needs, particularly transferring cassette tapes from my Yamaha MT50 4-track recorder for my videos. I changed out the original Bugera 12AX7 for a Brimar 12AT7, and the sound quality is so much smoother now!
Great job, Vatche! Exactly what I experienced when I connected my Model 12 to Ableton (Mac user here) to learn a bit about their interaction; I had one of those scratch-head moments, desperately looking into the menu settings and the manual in search of a revelation 😄 Eventually I switched USB AUDIO > PC Ch1/2 to Default (previously it was set to MAIN) and the audio from Ableton tracks came to normality.
I understand what you are saying, but it's not the digital's fault, but the human programmer that does not put the right and correct code of operation. In analog, any mistakes, you are stuck with the problem, but with digital, you can mend it and update to work correctly.
This is a big deal to me as I have noticed and been frustrated by this M12 driver behavior. 1/2 should be 1/2 and the Windows driver should allow you to send Windows audio to ANY pair like any other multi-channel interface. Default behavior on the M12 forces you to choose between giving up the only two channels that have inserts (1/2) or REDIRECTING 1/2 for ALL operations. I posted this video to the Facebook Tascam Model 12 group. THANK YOU RecordingStudio9 for being a mouthpiece with excellent communication skills, to bring this matter to the forefront.
Since the mixer allows you to monitor directly, even having the ability to add Compression, EQ and FX, without affecting the recorded audio, latency is not an issue. I normally have mine set to the highest buffer size. Unless you are using VST plugins in your monitoring chain (guitar AmpSim FX) which will add latency depending on the latency amount of the plugin being used. My video on my channel using live auto-pitch correction with Model 12 should give you some idea.
Tascam please you are do for another Update Firmware & hardware Master Bus Compressor/Limiter on the Main Give us an option to save FX DAW Controller Template & save option Please & thank you we appreciate your continue support
Do you have a tutorial on basic overall setup - to use the model 12 both for recording into my DAW, and for everyday management of my PC sound....I don't want to keep rewiring stuff every time I record.
That's the opposite, the Model 12 is a versatile mixer and multitrack recorder with lots of features. Take the time to learn how to get the best from it and you will be a happy musician/producer. Internet rants and complaints usually come from users that purchase gear before reading the specs, and often times don't spend time reading the manual; on the other side there are expert producers like Vatche who spend precious time studying the manuals and analyzing any aspect of the device before giving a balanced judgement, trying to help other people grow their knowledge and satisfaction. Last, but not least, Tascam constantly updates the firmware so it seems they listen to users. My 2 cents
Each of your tutorials are so clear, focused and efficient. The T-12 was far more complex than I bargained for, and the manual is a bit awkward & overwhelming for the uninitiated like me, so your tutorials are a must for us. I particularly appreciate that you, like all great teachers, patiently repeat information in multiple ways in order for important points to sink in. You are so skilled at anticipating confusion that it’s as if you are answering a question I wanted to ask. You’ve helped me master this amazing stand-alone mini-studio. Thanks again.
Love how relevant the model 12 still is! I swapped a focusrite interface for the model 12 and literally have never looked back! This is the best lil standalone unit there is!
Thanks. I just use a 1080p webcam and sometimes I forget to turn it off. It can be annoying at times to watch, but I can’t spend the time again to redo 😉
Great video!! I would like to follow your series on Prime but am doubtful... I have presonus speakers and received the Prime V6 free. I have worked in bandlab and Traction free before. Request you to kindly advise if can record guitar + vocals and "midi" keyboards at the same time. I have a Focusrite solo 2nd gen (2 inputs for vocals and guitar), midi is connected to PC directly. Thanks a lot for your advise
Thank you for noticing this! I noticed it years ago but never did anything about it (except fume inwardly). Your videos are a great resource and I wouldn't be surprised if they made a big difference in raising the priority of bugs etc.
@@RecordingStudio9 all right so if I want to have let's say eq and gate on my vocals only I route the Mic to the EQ input directly, then EQ output gate input, gate output to mixing console Mic input, maybe I am missing the mic preamp, am I wrong? 1
@@Georges-rp1qi Correct, you need Mic pre-amp as most EQ/Comp/Gate are line level devices. Try finding a Mic-Pre with EQ and Gate. eg. Behringer VX2000 or UV1
Tascam is the worst amateurisg brand that offer no support. The model 24 has had like 2 uodate, its a piece of trash i sold after 1 years im glad iv sold it. Flimsy button, if you dont turn a knob a while they getball dirty and scratch like hell. Now they fix all the shortcoming of the 24, but im sure they already working in a other crappy sub standard product they will release in 2026. Hell they recycled the crappy tiny scren and recorder from the model 24 in this one... tascam all about cutting corner from profit
Very interesting. IK MixBox CS seems like a powerful add-on. Love that it includes presets and that you can Save settings. Question: If using IK Mixbox's effects (like EQ, Compression, etc.) in a live setting, then I assume you would have your physical knobs on the model 12 set to 0 or neutral. For example, Compression would be Off, EQ knobs would be set to 0, and Aux 2 on your Channel strips would be off. Is that correct?
@recordingstudio9 -- I am a novice so just trying to learn the ropes on the Model 12. Your video made me wonder if your Master Bus Compression strategy be used for live music? That is, (a) put Channels 1-8 (Live) on SUB; (b) send SUB L/R outs into Channel 9/10 L/R Inputs, (c) use 9/10's Compressor as a Master Bus Compressor/Limiter, and (d) send 9/10's output to MAIN? Thanks. Love your videos!
this video states that the 2400 does not do DAW control like the Model 12 but according to Tascam's website the new 2400 does have a DAW Controller using the Mackie Protocol.
