Eventually do you think to try the Rocca even using a different handle? Eventually don't on a video, aside from the mismatch on the color, to see if is possible futher improvement during the shaving? And later give your impression.
@kevinturner105 me either. This is the 3rd model I’ve tried. I tried the v12 flexi(2 of them because the 1st was so rough. The 2nd was no better). Some cheaper bronze one mark szorady liked and now this slant model. None shaved smooth or well for me with several brands of blades tried. I wound up just getting an other slant for free. I sent it to a friend & he likes it. He likes more aggressive razors though. As long as someone likes it!
"Dangerous Web Page Blocked" message from Norton standing in the way ot the Jordan's website: Simple resolution is to use a computer (if Windows 10) which has no third-party security product installed. Windows Defender does not come in the stop the web page. I had no trouble going to and viewing the "enjoyjordans..." site on a Windows 10 computer with Google Chrome and no security-protection software other than the already included Windows Defender. This is in reference to my earlier complaint comment about trying to visit the site.
Nice shave John. Great fix to fix the adjustable. I am a big fan of no backbone brushes too and yet i love my boars. Have you tried the motherlode by Boti?
@okiedokie_cool I’m actually trying a ap shave co faux boar it’s very interesting so far! It has a lot of backbone but still splays well considering. It doesn’t hog the lather like a boar. A friend gave me a zenith boat that I broke in but haven’t tried yet. I have not tried any boti knots. I looked at that motherload knot but being petty & picky I don’t like how it looks in pictures anyways.
@subieshaves too funny there is an emoji for that! I thought about nail polish but there so many different types I wasn’t sure what to try. I use acetone to remove excess paint. What do you use?
Have you done a review with the Rex knonsal? I have started getting along with my Rex Ambassador 😂, glad I didn't sell it. Maybe I'll look into the Yaqi
John, great razor review. You are spot on with your observations on razors (imho) so I may hold off getting my first slanted razor like the Timeless Aluminum Slant a d save up for this Fall for the Yaqi. 🙂👍
@samhillanbrand6291 I personally find 3 piece slant razors seem to be more of a hit/miss experience. For me they are either too mild or too aggressive. I suppose you could say the same about DE razors. I guess my point is slant razors seem to be much more love/hate where DE razors seem to be easier to find good ones. At least with this yaqi slope you have 7+ settings as well as in between settings as u can do a 3.25/3.5 or any in between # you wish. Bound to find a setting or few that work for you.
I used nail polish. May not be as permanent, but VERY easy to do. Brush it on, let dry, then gently wipe excess with a cotton swab with remover in it. 👌
Great video! I've been searching for a single blade razor but my father just told me he has a Gem 1912 that was his grandfathers, he's passing it down to me. How cool!
@thelodestaracademy that’s very cool! If it’s a brass one they polish up beautifully! The 1912 is medium/high aggressive razors. If you would like to try shaving with it I can send you some free blades to try so you don’t have to commit to a large package. Email me at my channel name & gmail dot com if you want & I’ll send you some blades.
hello john, thanks for the review. battle reviews are always more informative imo. the aluminum de razor from sheildrazors have 0.95mm gap (confirmed by sheildrazors store - i asked specifically if he made an aluminum de head with 1.15mm gap, the only de razor head with 1.15mm gap is de3 head made from titanium)
@davidkuinov I noted when I made the video he is only currently offering the 0.95. When I bought this he offered both. I can ask if he intends to bring back the 1.15 DE if you like.
What do you think about a comparison between the Styletto and the Timeless slant? While they are a different type of razors, I guess the result would be similar, with the same intuitiveness, ease to use and smootheness.
@nonsolorasatura9093 the Styletto is less blade feel then the timeless slant. The timeless sb45 aka the common aluminum DE would be a better comparison in my opinion. I’ll do that comparison soon.
I love your shave comparisons last time I saw the Dave Matthews Band they were doing a double headliner with Creed who just recently got back together at Alcatraz prison
*Pasteur Pharmacy!* That is how to deal online in looking for or trying to purchase Jordan's soaps. I gave a couple other comments to your recent videos complaining that the enjoyjordans site was blocked upon trying to visit. I saw the link in this vid description, to Pasteur Pharmacy and checked in there to find the Jordans listed.
Nice shave John. Interesting to note thst you fouhd Bayonetta as medium aggressive. I actually found it relatively milder and a tad bit inefficient for my stubble.
Great video, John. SoCal Hipster sounds like a good one. It sounds like it's hard to go wrong with either one of these razors if you like the medium category. The bayonetta handle does look nice. I do like the thicker safety bar on the Kopparkant though.
Great comparison John 🙂👍 After watching that in my opinion I would say the Bayonetta has a slight edge because of the rocket style handle, which I think is unique, the fact that it doesn't occasionally "bite you" like the Aylsworth, and the price point.
I just traded my “original” Kopperkant baseplate to a guy for his “+” plate. Hasn’t arrived yet, but he said the “+” is way too aggressive and for me the “original” is way too mild. Hopefully we both are happy🤷🏼♂️ but he said that the “+” has to be one of the most aggressive razors out there🤷🏼♂️. Not sure the comparison, but he didn’t like it at all. We will see
@the_one_baba 😂hopefully the razor plate swap makes you both happy. I would not call the plus + plate “the most aggressive razor ever”. Yet I could totally see why someone may not enjoy it. Thanks for watching
My Leaf Twig developed a dry squeak in the threads shortly after I bought it. I saw a tip from Leaf to say a drop of their pre shave oil into the recess in the bottom of the handle as a lubricant was what they recommended and having done that it has been perfect since.
@zypang1447 it’s interesting how razors differ used to use. I bought the bison after reading several ppl say it was more efficient for them than the overlander.
Beautiful comparison. Great Call-out on difference in smoothness and blade clamp/rigidity. My beard is bet coarse salt and pepper with cross hatch growth pattern in half of the areas. What razors does your buddy find work well on his coarse salt and pepper?
@christopheratkinson635 believe this or not he gets vintage schick injectors and removes the safety bar completely! He also uses straight razors. I know the PAA DOC is one of his favs.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I am trying the Timeless Slant tonight. I was also interested in PAA Ascension Twist because I find I get better shaves with less aggressive on second, third and fourth passes. On the Rockwell with 3 or more days growth I cut in with the 5/6 and then back to the 4 plate for the other passes.
Nice review! I'm still trying to get my hands on a Merica.....I ordered one from the website 2 months ago so I'm anxious to try it. I recently bought a Winning and I'm nit sure if I like it or not. Keep making great content!
@michael_newton thank for the compliment. I’m sorry your Merica is taking so long. My buddy waited ages for his winning v2! I held off of the winning because ppl said the same as you. Not sure if they like it /mixed reviews. I hope your Merica comes soon & it’s worth the wait. My buddy did email Yates and got his razor faster so you may try that!
I waited for a while as well. Ordered mine in late May and did not receive it until mid August. They've been backed up on orders and having problems with the stainless steel supplier. Sucks to wait but I really like my razor
Hi John. Another great review! I have the Oberlander in SS. I would consider it to be the most mild razor that I own. But I still love it. It provides excellent head shaves. And if I had a bit harsh shave last time and in the mood for something more forgiving and gentle, it fits the bill perfectly. It’s extremely high quality as well.
@felixberkowitz936 the overlander is very nice & great for those smooth shave needing days for sure. I was shocked how smooth the styletto is though. I didn’t remember it being that smooth! They are both top razors for me. I love all the options karve lets the buyers select. Thanks for watching.
Did you feel the Styletto milder and so more easy to use and forgiving than the Shield DE that have a bigger gap? Does are both intuitive to find a mantain the correct angle? Does the angle to use them is predetermined or exist space for small adjustment without losing the ability for a comfort shaving? Thanks. Note: I always ask about the Styletto and the Shield DE.
@nonsolorasatura9093 i didn’t forget about you my friend. I still plan on making the video for you. It’s been a while since I’ve used the shield DE. I need a sharp blade to get BBS with it. They are both easy razors to find and maintain shaving angle with & let u play with the angle a bit. The Styletto is more efficient at removing hair the shield DE. I will do the video for you this week for you.
@robertross8565 😂 I really like the overlander. I can’t wait to get it in aluminum. I order the black aluminum with burnt orange base plate and handle end.
Great shave, John🙂 I prefer medium level and below razors because as you said, "It tears up my neck." I have learned to dial down an aggressive razor by pairing it with a more mild blade. Those razors look really awesome and the highlights you point out on them would make them worth purchasing except my budget is the next level down😂
Great video, The Mühle really is a great and versatile razor. I love the way it sounds, too. I'm looking forward to trying the new Alpha video Bary is having made.
I don't own a Muhle yet. Might have to look into this one and how does that grapefruit cream compare to TOBS grapefruit which is one of my favorites. TOBS missed the mark with their Lime Zest which smells like something I would clean my bathroom with. What you are using does appear to make a rich lather.
Stefan, I have the TOBS grapefruit, and as great as it is, the Hendrix Classics Citrus Bomb soap (John used the splash) is stronger, brighter, and juicier. I'm not sure about the soap John used, but if you like TOBS grapefruit, you'll love HC&C Citrus Bomb.
@stefanpuffer I have only tried the TOBS sensitive in the black tub. I didn’t care for the smell & it seemed to dry my face out. Looking back I wish I had tried their grapefruit instead! Elyisians grapfruit is a Medium scent profile not weak but not super strong either. It makes for an amazing bowl lather. I feel the Elysian is a more premium soap then TOBS personally. I want to try Elysian “lime aid”. I’m also looking for a great lime soap. I have a razororock one that’s pretty good but vegan so I would like more cushion.
