This discussion is very long. What I want to know is how is the comfort? If you have an incredibly sensitive back you want the car to be as soft and smooth as possible. Is this firmer (BMW M3) or softer (Lincoln Town Car). What is the impact on fuel economy?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 2 дня назад
These tires will not be the most comfortable tires out there. They aren't bad by any means, but their bias is towards traction. Now, you can probably run them on the lower side of the inflation recommendation to assist with the comfort, but you'll also give up some additional mileage. There is a slight mileage penalty with these tires, you're driving habits will also play a role in just how much. I saw about 1-2 MPG over the long-haul reduction and my wife experienced less than a single MPG lower fuel economy on hers. So, if comfort is your #1 criteria, these tires might not be your first choice. If you want great all-weather traction and good everything else, it is hard to go wrong with these tires. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and posting a comment!

I was told this SSD has cache, which is best for gamin laptops. I'm still figuring out what that means. Does the laptop recalls files faster for the user to open?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech Месяц назад
For very fast NVMe drives, the cache impact may not be noticeable. The idea behind the cache is to have faster memory available to hold data, mainly writes, to improve performance. With slower drives, this impact can be significant. With modern drives, it will depend on the type of memory (not all NVMe drives use the same type/quality memory). So, if you're not paying a premium for the cache, it is probably nice to get one equipped with it. If not, you may or may not notice much performance improvement with the cache.

LOL! I love the tread design, but how the Primacy hugged the rims and looked - it was really nice. Even though the sizes are the same, the Primacy seemed lower profile and perhaps I just really love the sporty look. That being said, I wouldn't trade the performance of the CC2's. We're actually going to put a set on another car - the one may soon to be 16 year old daughter drives. So, that will make 4 cars sporting those tires... Yeah, I just did that. Anyway, Keith is probably right - I love the look of the CC2's more and more because of how they perform. Thanks for watching and commenting!

This article is my first view of your channel; very interesting. I came across your RU-vid article, while researching for new tires for my wife's 2019 Honda C-RV Touring AWD. I like the tread design and specs of the CrossClimate2 tires. I am a retiring CPA, and not an auto mechanic and not with any special auto or tire knowledge or expertise. My personal opinion is safety first, and not the best mileage you can get from the tire. Therefore, I take the approach of buying new tires before the tread life is near replacement indicators.

I was shocked to see that the Primacy MXM4s, supposedly supplied new from our Lexus dealership, after 28,000kms (yes, not miles) wore unevenly. Following my shock of only 2/32 for both front, 1/32 on the passenger rear and 4/32 on the driver rear, I took my vehicle for a wheel alignment. No issues with the wheel alignment. I spoke with the Michelin support team. Shared my concern with the Primacy vs my usual high end Michelin tire. End result: I only have to pay 40% + labour costs to upgrade to the CC2’s. Gold. I’m not sure whether it’s a Primacy MXM4 issue. I suspect it’s the dealership not installing new tires at all ie. simply charging for them. No suspension issues either. Dodgy Lexus dealership it may be. Thanks to Michelin personnel for addressing and resolving my issues. Thank you to the dear gentlemen sharing their thoughts and expertise. D

Thanks for the video. Are you using the V or H speed rated tires? Any particular reason you chose the tire with that rating?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 2 месяца назад
Thanks for watching! The OEM tires for the 2015 Taurus are V rated. I stuck with that. Although I wouldn't be exceeding the speed rating for either the H or V rated tires, there are other performance characteristics with the V rating that could be desirable to many drivers. The speed rating will impact handing characteristics and ride. Those may be desirable or undesirable characteristics depending on your driving habits. One thing you'll find is if your car was originally equipped with V rated tires, many websites will state the H rated tires won't fit your vehicle. So, I believe the choice will ultimately be up to you, I went for keeping the size and speed rating from the OEM specs identical. Best Regards!

We shot with both of ours in Illinois (Keith has the iPhone version). It ended-up being almost Blair Witch like... We were out in the woods near a river at night trying to see if we could find wildlife from their heat signature. We ended-up seeing a strong heat signature embedded in a pile of brush... It was a bit tense until we figured it. We have a bit more to film to get the episode ready, but likely will wrap-up filming the episode in the next 60 days or so. I would say by the end of the summer it should get released. I, unfortunately, do all the video editing and so I go in waves of when I have more time for that and when I do. We had quite a dry spell of content from November to March. We were recording some new content, so I have a bunch to edit banked. Thanks for the sub and comment!

Thanks for the review. Interesting to see that the front tires has 2/32's less treads than the rear ones. Have they ever been rotated?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 4 месяца назад
Yeah, I have a feeling I know what happened here... With the amount of miles my wife puts on the van, I like to rotate the tires with each oil change. I have a feeling a couple of times I asked for that to be done at oil change time, it didn't and I didn't verify it had. My shop has gotten busier and I think some little details like that have slipped through the cracks. We tend to go in waves of needing service and with the cars my daughters just purchased over the summer for themselves, I am keeping an eye on 7 vehicles. I keep telling my shop they need to give me the fleet discount! It is definitely a conversation I will be having with my shop and it is getting done at the next oil change. With that much differential, I likely will need to keep the current rears on the front for a couple oil changes. I will be monitoring their wear closely now with my tread gauge so I know when the time comes. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Great review. My experience has been similar with your observation about the tread life on the Primacy 4s. I have run two sets of primacy 4s on my Peugeot 308 diesel wagon (60k miles total). I drive rather leisurely ... around 10% over the speed limit (30-65 mph) and turn/brake easily. I do mostly country road and highway driving. I have been getting around 35K miles per set - much less than I expected. I change tires around the 3.5-4mm level. On this last round of tires and just prior to replacement, I noticed that the rear of the wagon got a bit jiggly turning on bumpy pavement (pardon the tech jargon). However, this was immediately corrected with a new set tires. I rotate the tires around every 6k miles (at Costco) and monitor the pressure closely. I live in subtropical climate where it seldom snows and is hot/humid for 5 months of the year (maybe like Savannah, GA). The tire shop staff felt the Cross Climate 2 would have a shorter tire life here. So, now I am on my 3rd pair of Primary 4s. Overall, I like the Primacy 4s. Reasonably good handling (esp. wet braking), quiet, good fuel economy and not too expensive. The tire life is disappointing, and I will not run them to a 2mm level. Thinking about it, I like your hypothesis about the Primacy 4s being more sporty oriented in terms of compounding.
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 4 месяца назад
I am currently within around 7,000 miles of what I got on the Primacy's. For your climate, the CC2's may give-up too many things for little to no benefit since you don't get snow. I also have no idea how the CC2's would handle the weather conditions and they too would get fewer miles. The CC2's on my Taurus are going to sail past the Primacy's, so for me, I know they aren't the right tire. TyreReview just did their large tire roundup review. You may want to check it out. There are some new contenders that are better in wet and dry conditions than the CC2's. There may be a better alternative among those tires since the CC2's are a good all-around tire that is great in snow. There are a couple great all-arounds that are good in snow. Might be worth a look. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Use a knife to get the rubber gasket out and clean at least 2 to 3 times a week. Also, I'm pretty sure the white powdery marks on the blade base is from using the liquid vinegar to clean. Summer temperatures where I live can exceed 110°. How do you think they would do?
@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 6 месяцев назад
I hear you! Although it isn't often, we can have stretches where temps exceed 100 degrees. Then in the winter it can be 30 below zero. Temperature extremes are tough on everything. I see no reason the CC2's wouldn't handle that, but having a garage and shaded parking (many extreme high temperature climates have some access to shaded packing) can help. The sun is the enemy of rubber compounds and the effects of the sun on tires can lead to premature deterioration and tire replacement well before you would need to in less extreme temperature locations. I would recommend a high quality tire dressing with UV protection. The tires ship with a factory coating, but that will eventually wear off. If you end up with the CrossClimate 2's, be sure to update us. We'd love to know how the tires do for you in such an extreme high temperature setting. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I truly understand that everyone has the positive opinions on these Crossclimate 2 tires, But ? I just noticed upon walking out of a coffee shop that my rear tire was very low so as I connected my Milwaukee air compressor to my surprise my tire had cracks along the side walls, So I call my friends shop and he told me to bring the car to him and upon removing the tire we noticed that the other side of the tire was as if it was sliced all around the side walls and this made me look at the other 3 tires and they were all the same. Please have your tire shop lift your car so that they can remove the entire air from the tires because thats the only way your going to see these cracks. If your tire is filled with air you won't be able to see these cracks so make sure you deplete the air. {VERY DANGEROUS} I already made a claim with Michelin and just waiting for my friend to get back to me from the warehouse distributor, GL everyone.

Interesting... This is the first I have heard of an issue like this one with these tires. I can certainly understand the sidewalks deteriorating with age, especially if the vehicle is outside much or all the time. Obviously, you shouldn't have to worry about that with well maintained tires that are still well within the service life. How long have you had the tires and does the vehicle have to sit outside in the weather often - while at work, home, etc? How old are the tires? What climate are you in? Do you use any tire dressings on the tires? What you described is obviously a very serious problem and concern. Let us know what information Michelin provides back to you. We appreciate the view and the comment!

Absolutely, My car is garage kept from Pennsylvania to Fairfield CT & I only have about 11k miles on the tires. I also noticed if I put any side wall dressing & the answer is no. I also went to my friend's shop today & he took my side & stated they have to give me a replacement for free & I told him once approved im only going back to Continental tires (No more Michelin) This issue has cost me 3 days of lost work 200 miles away from home & having to wait for an answer in maybe a few days or as my friend said 2+ weeks.

@dadstalktech
@dadstalktech 6 месяцев назад
The tires on my wife's van are H-rated and more than sufficient. The conventional wisdom would be that V-rated tires could be louder and not wear as well, but that does depend on the tire. I, unfortunately, cannot answer if that will be the case with the CrossClimate 2's. The V-rated, especially for a Pacifica, will be overkill but isn't really a problem other than some potential increased noise and potential decrease tread life. I wish I could help more! You might try checking some reviews on Tirerack or another online tire sales website and see if anyone has posted about the V-rated tires. Thanks for watching and for posting your question! Interesting... Which model Scorpions did you go with? They make a ton under that name, including several 3 Mountain Peak models. I see the Winter 2's and popular and so are the WeatherActive's. The issue I have had with Pirelli's in the past has been tread life. Now, I haven't had the Scorpions, but other model Pirelli's have let me down in that category. Check back with us and let us know how things are going with the Pirelli's I would be curious. Sometimes when you have had one experience with a brand it is difficult to get over that, but I would be willing to do so if the Pirelli's treat you well over the long-haul. It was a toss up between the CC2 and Scorpions. The Scorpions have a bit more tread (11/32) and high " density" rating at 800 vs 600 on the CC2. Tirerack said the CC2 would be slightly louder and less mpg. I'm very happy with the Pirelli Scorpions and saved $100.

Did the same thing. Replaced OEM Goodyear run flats on my wife's 2021 BMW X3 M40i at 29k mi's. Yep. 29k. How worthless were they? OEM run flats, any brand, are the worst. Did some RU-vid University research, and decided on the CC2's. Loved them. Quieter than the run flats, handle better, and, allegedly, the wet grip & snow grip are unparalleled. Haven't had too much weather yet in about 5k mi's, but she drives it, and safety first for wifey. Had Michelin Defender LTX M+S on my 2011 Ford Escape with 69k on the tires, installed in early 2017. Quite frankly, they've been great. I have a compressor with a hose reel in our garage, so tire pressure is checked & corrected weekly, at a minimum. Also, have wheels rotated every 10k mi's. Had plenty of tread left on the Defenders, but trusted mechanic said with winter and 7 yrs. of age coming, replacement advisable. So, put CC2's on. Love them. Turn-in & handling better, tracks better. Plenty quiet, so far. No weather yet in 1k mi's or so.

Talk faster, self edit. Use economy of words. Even playing this at 2x it was pretty brutal to get through this.

@@cynthiagonzalez3334 If it helps I went with a $300 variant of vitamix and its been just fine and it almost never gets used anyway. Just pick something and move on. No point in wasting countless hours watching reviews.

Nice review, good breakdown and analysis so I don't get some of the hate. You should do a video on the Primacy Tour A/S. Website states "17% better snow traction" than the MXM4 and l believe that has been a old design tire that's been out for awhile too. I tried searching for videos on the Primacy Tour A/S and can't find anything.

Thank you! We would love to do more tire reviews, but currently we don't get any tires from manufacturers to test. We have to review what we research for our own needs and that severely limits the scope of what we can review. We appreciate you watching and leaving a comment!

Ok,what people forget is different countries have different Tarmac make up. Scandinavian countries need a Tarmac that will perform to extreme cold. Countries like England, France, Germany etc. Their weather is wet,warm, and sometimes cold. Countries like Spain, Italy, Greece have extreme heat. All these countries have to have Tarmac that works for the weather there. Not all tyres work for every country country. That is a fact. I retired to Greece and found the continental tyres l had on my Isuzu D-Max pick up were useless. No grip in the wet and driving on marbles in the dry. But in in France and england they worked !!!!!. Ok, so l changed to the forerunner of the cross climate. Lattertude cross Michelin tyres. Changed the whole handling of the car. Grip was and is amazing to say the least.l do tend to press on as it were. I have just ordered 5 cross climate 2 tyres for my wifes car.cannot wait to try them out. Yes l will also be getting them for my D-Max when these tyres l have wear out. I have l must say ,Michelin tyres on all my cars. They work the best and wear is amazing. I had a Chrysler 180 sports saloon car with Michelin tyres. 56,000 miles the front tyres wore out. 58,000 the rear wore out. As a young man in early 20's this was amazing. So l have been a Michelin man all my life and swear by them. Grip, long life and handling. Safety first for family.

I have 3 cars now with the Cross Climate 2's. Haven't regretted the decision to go with these tires. We'll likely be doing another update on the ones on my wife's van this winter. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Question. Will a lithium battery give more power to the power tool over the original Nicad, or even HIMH? Not run time, but giving more energy power to the tool? One video said the saw he was using ran better and had better cutting power.

I wouldn't expect that a new NiCad would have less power than a Lithium battery if both were new. Both NiCad's and Lithium batteries tend to be linear with their power delivery up to near the point of needing a recharge. Now, used batteries, especially on the NiCad side where memory can be an issue may yield significant power delivery duration issues would be very possible. So, not calling another reviewer wrong, but if you compare a new Lithium ion battery to an older NiCad battery, there certainly could be perceivable differences in the power delivery and working duration. I have had the crossclimate 2(s) about 3 weeks. So far so good. They stop quicker/shorter distance. They do not spin when I peel out like the Michelin pilots did. They were decent on wet payment no spinning. I will post more once I make it through the snow and more wet weather.

They are not loud at all, my Honda accord v6 pushes them to the max and all I hear is my engine lol. Fantastic tires from my experience 👍I would definitely recommend them for all year round driving.

Thanks for sharing with us! Yeah, I wouldn't say they are loud tires, but some people comment. Perhaps they were comparing with very worn tires and then when to something with some actual tread...

Thanks for the feedback... We always struggle with how long are videos are because we tend to go into a ton of detail... For us, it is what it is... Luckily for us, quite a few people didn't let the duration dissuade them from watching... But, point taken. Thanks for watching for however long it was!
